relief and relevations
Spending the morning kicking a ball around with Leo was the best way to clear his anxieties. Freddie was worried things would change but it didn't, Leo was still handsome and a bit weird. More importantly hanging out with him was still fun. There was a specter of something unsaid hanging over them but Freddie figured it would work itself out a eventually. Not everyone agreed with him.
"Wait so he said he's into you?" Tim asked over lunch.
"Yeah," Freddie replied.
"And you like him?" Tim asked.
"Yeah," Freddie agreed.
"Did you tell him you like him?" Nikki asked.
"I think he knows," Freddie said.
"Does he though?" Tim questioned.
"I'm pretty sure," Freddie said.
"Uhuh," Nikki said.
"You just played football?" Tim asked.
"Yeah I said that," Freddie answered getting a little frustrated.
"That's not a euphemism at all?" Tim asked.
"No just stop okay he knows."
They dropped the topic but Freddie could see the question behind every thing else they said. It only got worse when he went to visit Sadie that afternoon. She saw him coming and climbed out from behind her desk pointing aggressively at Freddie.
"What the hell are you doing?" she asked angrily.
"Going for a workout?" Freddie answered.
"What are you doing with my brother?"
"Not sure that's your business," Freddie said.
"It is if you're dicking him around."
"I'm not," Freddie insisted starting to feel a little offended.
"He told you he liked you," she said like an accusation.
"Yeah I know," Freddie said.
"What are you gonna do about it?"
"Not your business."
She stormed off in frustration after that and Freddie was no longer in the mood so he left. Everyone's words rolling around in his head he was so distracted he didn't realize he'd walked all the way to Leo's apartment until he was standing in front of his door. He knocked, because he was there so he thought he may as well sort the whole thing out.
"Freddie?" Leo asked when he opened the door.
"Hey," Freddie said unable to help smiling at the sight of Leo.
"You okay?"
"Yeah uh I'm gonna ask something and I need ya to just answer it honestly."
Leo nodded.
"Cool, so you know I'm into you right?" Freddie asked holding his breath for the answer.
Leo's eyes darted away from Freddie's, flitting around unable to focus but they met his for a second as Leo said, "yeah."
Freddie released his breath, "cool. So we're good?"
"We're good," Leo answered.
Freddie smiled broadly.
"Do you want to come in?" Leo asked.
"Yeah yeah I do," Freddie answered following Leo through the door and letting it slam behind him.
