day 12
After only one day of Freddie spending so much time at university, Georgie was acting as though she'd been abandoned. She demanded video updates through out the day, and Freddie didn't mind it was easy enough to take a ten second clip and send it though to his mum to make her happy but he quickly ran out of things to say or do in the clips he was sending. In a moment of desperation because Georgie had called him crying because he wasn't going to be home for dinner again, Freddie asked Leo for help.
Any way I could get another Leo Lion vid? Freddie asked Leo.
You admit I'm a lion then, Leo replied.
She's only five it's not her fault she can't tell the difference between a lion and a lizard.
For real tho you'd be a life saver, Freddie added.
A few minutes later a video came through. Instead of a selfie like he'd sent last time, this video was taken by someone else. Leo was standing on what looked like a sports field of some kind wearing a jersey Freddie recognised as belonging to the Pelicans. Sweat was sticking his dark hair to his forehead and there were lines of dirt on his thighs as smiled softly at the camera in a way that would have felt uncharacteristic a few weeks before but Freddie now understood as the special smile Leo reserved just for children.
"Hi Georgie giraffe," he said with a wave. "I hope you have a roaring good day."
On the word roar he roared, whoever was holding the camera started snickering but Leo committed completely.
Freddie smiled quietly to himself, he couldn't believe how lucky he was to be one of the people Leo shared himself like that with.
Bunking off for a lunchtime game are ya? Freddie asked after he'd forwarded the video to his mum.
Leo replied with an eye rolling emoji.
It made sense that Leo was a soccer fan, Freddie thought, as he wandered back to the table his group had set up on. He wondered if he should make an effort to get into football finally, Dave would probably cream his pants if he said that, but the thought was fleeting and the pile of books looming on their table took any hope from his mind.
