coward
It's not that Freddie avoided the sports centre on purpose, it just sort of happened naturally. He wanted to spend more time with his mum and sister when they came back, and the university workload had started to heat up. He wasn't avoiding Sadie, at least that's what he told himself and it's what he told her when she found him in the university canteen a week after their second dinner.
"Hey coward," she announced sitting down in the seat directly across from Freddie.
"Hey Sadie," Freddie sort of squeaked back at her.
"Just because you're embarrassed doesn't mean you can avoid the whole building."
"I'm not avoiding," Freddie said.
"He really is," Tim interjected from the sidelines. "I'm Tim by the way, big fan."
"Lovely to meet you," Sadie said to Tim with a smile before turning back to Freddie with a storm in her eyes.
"I'm not avoiding," Freddie insisted.
"I'll pretend I believe you if you promise to come back."
"Are you saying you miss me Sadie?" Freddie asked trying to cut the tension with humour.
"Someone misses you," Sadie muttered to herself.
"Fine alright," Freddie. "I'll stop by, only because you miss me."
"Whatever," Sadie said standing up again. "Just come soon he's driving me nuts."
Freddie wasn't sure he'd heard the last part correctly because Sadie was already walking away as she said it so he didn't think about it too hard.
