Chapter 1
I sat under a tree and began sketching out a drawing, I saw people walk past me, couples holding hands, people talking and giggling with their friends, children playing tag, people sat and read with friends, and walked past. It was a foggy morning, cold, but not too cold. I looked at the lake across from the tree I sat at every morning on weekends, this would be one of the last times I sat there. A cool breeze pasted by my face and leaving a dewy smell left in brain, I loved that smell, soon I wouldn't get that smell much longer... Why did we have to move, it was perfect here, calming and... Chill, small.I didn't want to be anywhere else. Mom said we would leave on Tuesday next week. I held out my fingers and began counting on them, "1, 2, 3, 4..." 4 days, and then. Poof!Out of Portland. I sighed and moved a strand of hair away from my face. I moved my wrist to check the time on my watch. A picture of me and a couple of friends greeted me as I looked at the watch. "7:59" I've better be going, or mom will be mad. I placed my sketch book back into my bag and put the leather strap around my neck. I pulled my bike away from the and walked it onto the side walk and began on my ride back home.
I slowed down as I got near a blue house with the numbers "4586" and began to walk down the small path that lead to the back yard, I opened the gate and lead my bike through the backyard to the shed where I kept my bike. I opened the door and put the light blue bike in the shed. I unlocked the backdoor with my key. Being an only child, I always was the weird kid who had no siblings, and anti-social, I had two friends, they were like sisters to me, Jamie, I had known her for 13 years, we known each other since we were two! She liked musicals, playing ukulele, reading, drawing and her cat named Lizard. Nora, I had also known her for 13 years and she was a cheerful, artsy, kid. She loved her 90's vintage stuff (as did I) and taking photo's of everything in sight, she had a lizard named kitty. I pulled a "Flip" yogurt from the fridge and grabbed a spoon from the hanging buckets on the side of the fridge. I lived with my mom and dad, we were a small little family, it had always been that way. "Morning Oak." Said dad as he walked down the stairs, he headed to the office. "Almost done packing right?" He said and looked over at me. "Yea." I said and I went back to my food. "Don't forget we leave Tuesday!" Said dad and he walked into his office, he was most likely packing more things. I really didn't want to leave. I tossed the "Flip" yogurt into the trash and placed my spoon in the sink. I walked up stairs to my room and started to pack my closet.
A couple of hours later I heard my phone ring. I ran over and answered, "Hello?" I said and I listed for a response, "Heyyy! Oak, you should come over!" From the voice I instantly knew who it was. "I have so much packing to do though!" I said as I folded a shirt and placed it in a box. "Oak, come on!" Jamie begged for me to come over, I giggled and then responded, "As temping as it is... I have so much packing to do today, I promise, I'll come over tomorrow at 8." "Okay, Am? Right? " Said Jamie, "Yep let me go back to packing, tomorrow, Promise!" I said and then I giggled, "Fine then, have a good day Oak." Said Jamie, "Bye Jamie."
