"Joy!" Jimmy called after me.

I turned on my heel and faced him. He ran up and stopped in front of me. I wiped my tears.

"I was just doing what I had to do. I was protecting us. All of us!" Jimmy said.

"I know." I replied through my tears, "Doesn't mean you need to be happy about it or say he deserved it. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was just doing his job."

"He insulted us. He called us freaks and called the twins monsters!" Jimmy said back.

"We are freaks." I said. Jimmy was taken aback. I could tell he didn't know what to say. I continued, "And people are going to treat you like a monster if you act like one."

"What are you saying?" Jimmy asked.

"You just murdered someone!" I said anger rising up in me, "Normal people don't do that."

I was going to walk away. I had said everything I wanted to.

"I had to." Jimmy said now calm.

I stopped. My back still faced him.

"Don't be happy about it." I said.

"I'm not happy about it!" Jimmy said, "I didn't want to. I had to."

"With the way you were talking, you sure seemed proud." I spat, "He had children and a wife you know. He told me!"

"You don't get it. I didn't want to." Jimmy said again, "It just wasn't right and I wasn't going to watch him push us around like that!"

"You don't get it either. I had to deal with it afterwards. I had to watch him look at his body and worry about his family, his young children. And at the same time you were saying he deserved it."

"He had a 4 year old daughter. You took her father away from her today." I started to turn away, "No one deserves to die."

I didn't look back.
