Chapter Four. Closing Night.
The sunlight streamed through the otherwise dark tent, making Joelee groan as she covered her eyes.
It was like waking up from a horrible hangover but by now she was used to it.
" Are you awake?" David called softly, he knew better than to yell at this point.
" Yes..." Joelee replied simply as she released a soft groan.
" Here." David tossed her a silky black robe which flitted easily through the bars of the cage.
" Thank you. What time is it?" Joelee asked as she slipped on the robe, tying it tightly around her waist.
" Eight. We let you sleep in." David said as he approached the cage, swiftly unlocking it before opening the large, heavy door.
" Thank you.... How much did we make in the finale...?" Joelee asked, gratefully accepting his help out of the cage, her legs were still a bit wobbly and the blood rushed to her head as she moved but it seemed normal to her now.
" More than enough.... Are you alright?" David asked, though they'd done this show thousands of times, David knew the pain for her got worse every time... If that was even possible at this point. But that was her curse. Doomed to a tortuous existence every night for all of eternity.
" I am fine, but there had better be coffee...." Joelee said, trying to lighten the situation which made David chuckle quietly.
" Everyone is waiting in Kent's trailer, I'll meet you there." David handed her a candy bar before turning and hurrying away, making Joelee roll her eyes as she chuckled a bit.
Joelee headed towards the largest trailer within the circus, climbing up the large steps as she opened the door and entered, blue eyes gazing around the room.
Everyone looked up as she entered, a few offering small smiles but others just went back to their original activities.
" Took you long enough." Sam piped up which made Joelee roll her eyes.
" Good morning to you as well, Sam." Joelee said as she shut the door behind herself, approaching the coffee which brewed on the stove behind the brunette man.
" How did you sleep....?" Alyssa asked awkwardly, stretching her legs a bit as she spoke.
" Seriously? I slept like a baby, Alyssa." Joelee replied sarcastically which made Nathan, Esther, Sam and Kent snicker quietly.
" Somebody is in a good mood." Alyssa bit back with a roll of her eyes.
" Full moons hurt the most. Sorry, I didn't mean to be grumpy.... Where is Dean?" Joelee asked as she sat down next to Killian who wiggled his eyebrows, making Joelee slap his arm.
" He is in his trailer. He will be over soon.... Do not worry." Esther said, joining Killian in the eyebrow wiggling which made Joelee sigh in exasperation.
" You have been doing this for two hundred years and it still has not happened.... I would think you would have let it go by now." Joelee huffed as she took a sip of her coffee.
" Mmmm, we're never letting it go, sweetheart." Alyssa teased which made Joelee roll her eyes.
" Whatever...." Joelee sighed softly as she rubbed her eyes in exhaustion.
" You can sleep on the way there. For now, let's get to work." Kent put on his top hat, grinning a bit as he exited the large caravan.
" As you wish, oh mighty Ringleader." Esther said sarcastically as the rest of the crew followed Kent to the center of the large circus.
Dean approached the small group, flashing Joelee a dazzling smile before hesitating. He looked much different from the night previously, his muscles being toned down to a more normal level and he seemed less...angry.
" Where we heading next, boss?" Dean ran a hand through this hair as he spoke with a casual expression.
" America." Kent said before tapping his cane, the sound echoing through the campgrounds before a soft shuffling was heard as they tents began to fold and pack themselves up into the carts.
" Ew, America? Why America?" Caitlyn asked with a light groan, not even seeming to care as the circus was taken down around them, seemingly by itself.
" Sam, we are from America." Joelee rolled her eyes lightly as she spoke.
" Yes, but that does not mean I like it... I much prefer England." Sam brushed the dirt off of his lilac suit as he spoke.
" You just wish to see the Phoenix boy again." Esther teased which made Sam shrug nonchalantly.
" So what if I do?" Sam glared at the woman before Kent interrupted by clearing his throat.
" If you two are finished arguing, we may leave now." Kent said impatiently which made both women turn to him with annoyed expressions.
" Wait!" A small voice called as a little girl with long brown hair ran over to the group, her brown eyes wide as she stared at them with an awestruck expression.
" And who are you, little one? Where is your parents?" Joelee looked around anxiously, making sure no adults had seen Kent use magic.
" That is why I must speak with you. My name is Elita, you must take me to Paris!" The small girl exclaimed, rubbing her arms as she spoke.
" And why is that?" Sam basically snapped as she eyed the small girl up.
" My father was taken to Paris by The Immortals, he said that should that ever happen, I should find you." Elita explained quickly, her breathing uneven as though she were about to cry.
The whole group visibly stiffened, all exchanging fearful looks before turning their attention back to the small girl.
" Who is your father?" Kent asked in a hushed whisper, his blue eyes wide in fear.
" Vano. His name is Vano. He said...should I find you, I would know by the curse of the werewolf. I am sorry, by the way.... No one deserves such a curse." Elita looked at Joelee who avoided the small girls gaze.
" Vano... That cannot be.... He... What did he say to you, girl?" Killian's eyes were wide in shock as he spoke.
" He said.... Should you help me save him, your debt will be paid. Though, I do not know what that means...." Elita said which caused Joelee to inhale sharply while everyone exchanged glances yet again.
" Well then, Elita.... Let us rescue your father." Kent grinned as he motioned to the caravan with an excited expression.
