Sam would like to say after Felix finally acknowledged to Sam's beyond normally sane feelings, and sort of hinting that he may have just as insane feelings back at him that Sam plucked up the courage to just grab him and snog his face off but it didn't quite go that way.
"Oh," Sam uttered dumbfounded, blinking owlishly up at Felix. "Cool."
Felix then snorted, followed up by a burst of laughter at Sam's expense who still stood absolutely frozen not quite believing what was happening. Everything was out. Everything that had been eating him up for months, everything that had almost killed him by the very object of his affections' bare hands was out there and going, to what Sam hoped, somewhere. And he wasn't dead.
"Really?" Felix finally got out, wiping tears from his eyes. "That's all you've got to say?"
God he was beautiful.
Sam still continued to gape at him until he snorted and rolled his eyes with his had until he was looking down the school building. "I think we should get back. I can practically feel Ellen's curi- no, wait. Apparently I don't have to" Felix was looking at the end of the building, an eyebrow raised with annoyed amusement. Startled, Sam turned to see Ellen squeak most uncharacteristically and disappear around the corner only for Jake to appear where she was a moments before, stumbling in a way that said he'd been pushed out against his will.
"Ellen!" he hissed, looking at Sam in a panic and scrambling after her.
Sam didn't know whether to laugh or be angry as he stared at the spot. "I need new friends," he mumbled.
Felix gave out a laugh, making Sam flush pleasingly. "Yeah me too." He agreed before grabbing Sam's shoulder roughly and pulling him forward. "Let's get this over with."
As they walked away from that spot, Sam wondered if was supposed to feel any better once everything was out in the open as it was now. Well, now that everything Sam had been feeling was out, he wasn't actually sure how Felix felt. He hadn't said a thing about how he felt for Sam, if he felt anything at all that wasn't annoyance.
So when they got to the table where Ellen, Sam and Mia sat, both Ellen and Jake looking slightly flushed, and all gave the two boys certain looks.
Felix and Ellen got into some scary glaring contest until Ellen sighed and rolled her eyes. "It was all very dramatic and then very anti-climactic."
"Very Glee episode worthy." Mia piped in.
Sam gave out a suffering sigh, of course Mia had been there too. God, nothing was private anymore.
"Of course you would watch that crap," Ellen scrunched up her face in disgust at Mia. "Glee is the reason aliens are on their way to zap us all into hell. Especially that weird guy with the triangles for eyebrows"
Mia looked particularly insulted. "Darren Criss is a gift to this world, you take that back!"
Sam gave one look at Jake as Mia and Ellen got into a heated debate and started backing away just as the bell rang for the start of the school day. Both of them made a quick getaway, not wanting to be anywhere near the girls and become collateral damage of sorts.
Jake and Sam were laughing slightly, making their way through the entrance when Sam noticed Felix was with them too. Sam wasn't proud to say that he slightly jumped out his skin. Felix flashed him a grin, making Sam give a wobbly one back.
"You are so gone," Jake whispered, laughing as he pulled away and went right with a salute towards the IT department where his next class, leaving Felix and Sam alone to go to Chemistry.
Sam looked up at Felix nervously, feeling himself get hot all over as he wheezed to breathe. "We're- we're good... right?"
Felix raised an eyebrow and gazed down at Sam as they walked, arms brushing sometimes as they moved through the crowded halls, not helping Sam in the slightest as he struggled to keep breathing, his while body shaking. When they reached the classroom door Felix quirked his lips. "Yeah, we're good."
~💀~
By the time lunch came around Sam still wasn't sure what to feel.
He was happy that he had gotten everything out there, happy that he'd seen enough smiles and laughs come out of Felix to last him a whole lifetime of bliss. But although he had lifted a weight of his chest it was just replaced with a new one. What did Felix think of him? What were him and Felix now? Sam was so unsure and confused and yet a fluttery sensation of hope was now buzzing around him, making him feel two things at once.
Sam sighed.
In a perfect world, Felix would have confessed his feelings also and they would have skipped off into the sunset. But of course, like everything with Felix, it wasn't working out that way, it had to be harder than it could be.
"I'm proud of you, dude," Jake said, clapping him on the shoulder. "Even if there is still a chance of the freak gutting you and grinding your bones into powder for some ancient freak-fest, at least you told the truth."
Mia gave him a pinched, incredulous look. "Thank you, Jake – for not helping at all, as usual." She turned to Sam and gave him a blindingly encouraging smile. "I'm sure it's all going to work out."
Ellen came gliding towards them, a pretty scowl on her face, brown hair flying behind her. Felix was in tow, the same devastating scowl patched onto his face. Sam forgot how to breathe as Felix's face scrunched up as the sun glared into his eyes.
"Morning." Ellen chirped- well, chirped as much as she could manage while not having a pleasant bone in her body and slid in next to Sam, causing Felix to awkwardly walk over to her back, hovering over the table and not quite sure whether to sit or not. Sam tried not to murmur pathetically at the lost look he was giving off, the short show of vulnerability setting butterflies off in his stomach.
"I don't see how talking to us once now makes you think you can sit with us." Jake glared at her.
Ellen gave him a dirty look. "What is this? Mean Girls? Get over yourself. Besides, Sam is all right with it, aren't you Sam?"
Sam turned at his name and smiling at the retort, looking at Ellen and then sliding up his eyes to Felix, wondering if it was all right with him. Felix sort of twitched his head which Sam took as a yes and grinned over at Jake who rolled his eyes. "Just sit down then, join us in this slippery slope of breaking the status quo."
"Oh calm down, Sharpay. I hardly think your high school days will be ruined."
Mia gave out a surprised laugh, which pleased Ellen to no end. Sam didn't understand how being compared to a permanent marker was in any way as funny as Mia was making it out to be.
He looked up at Felix again, catching him smiling fondly at Ellen. Sam's stomach dropped and his chest. Jesus, he had to get a hold of himself.
"Oh sit down, Fefe, stop being an awkward ass." Ellen snapped at him, moving away from Sam to make room.
Jake gave out a loud snort. "Fefe? Seriously? Adorable."
Felix glared at Jake, making him squirm.
Sam was grinning at Jake's reaction until Felix flopped down beside him, swinging his bag under the table and stepping over the bench with his ridiculously long legs. He instantly lowered his head, his blonde hair spilling to his right as he gave Sam a baring of teeth.
Sam's heart stopped and struggled to do something back. He wasn't exactly sure what went on with his face, but Felix's only morphed into something of amusement before turning away.
Sam didn't speak much, too aware of the boy next to him, their thighs touching and heating Sam up all over, but then Felix didn't speak much either, letting Ellen rip the piss out of Jake and cackle loudly at his reactions and Mia trying to keep the peace.
Sam kept moving slightly away, feeling awkward and hot but Felix just kept spreading his legs and pressing them closer until Sam was a gargling mess at the end of the table. And from the smirk that was playing on his lips, he knew exactly what he was doing to him. And then after a while he just... accepted it, letting himself move a little closer until their arms touched too. Felix made no move to pull away, instead listening intently to Ellen's theory about aliens, Jake occasionally joining in and calling bullshit.
And everything was good.
