S1E7: Love is in the Air

KENT GREEN-I Need a Girlfriend

"I'm still trying to get serious this year. I need a girlfriend."

Kasim nodded at him while they lounged in the game room of the Frat House sharing a large pepperoni pizza and wings.

"Good for you. I think I will just focus on my last year here. Move on, after..."

He felt bad his friend couldn't even say Naomi's name. He also was not about to tell him they were still friends.

"Hey, maybe we both find someone."

He grabbed a slice, folded it, and stuffed it in his mouth. He was not the guy to give relationship advice, not having a girlfriend since he started college. Before that, in high school, silly little relationships never lasted long.

His two younger brothers were more serious than him. Middle brother Kenneth was a sophomore in college, pre-med like him but on the Dean's list every semester at Mizzou. His younger brother was a freshman at Midtown University this year and judging how he was the shining star in high school, college would be no different.

His parents assumed he was the loser of his brothers because they believed all he wanted to do was party, drink, and have sex. None of that was false but he still retained his grades above average and he still planned on going off to med school after graduation.

What was wrong with having fun while he was young?

Speaking of, he needed to see if Akilah was down for a rendezvous. Besides getting some head from Lameeka, he was lacking in the sex department.

He texted Akilah to see if she was down to stop by the Frat House later. He had to at least finish hanging with his friend.

Too much studying tonight. Catch u this weekend?

Just great! No sex again tonight. He texted back that was cool.

"So, any other girls you think are hot on campus?" he asked Kasim

"No!" he quickly said. "I haven't looked at a girl that way since I've been with...her."

"Really? You're alive, you're a man, you have eyes, what's wrong with looking?"

"You'll understand if you ever have a girlfriend. No, when you fall in love."

Love? Cold day in hell before that happened.

ANGELO MATA-Not Like Other Guys

Being single was not his life.

Angelo watched as his frat brothers went from girl to girl, having sex every night with a different girl. No commitment, no love, just lust.

Love was all he needed.

He had been with his girlfriend since his senior year of high school at Dunlap Academy. Valencia did not attend the prestigious private school but that didn't matter to him. She attended their rival, the performing arts school American VPA. She was an artist, a painter actually, and she was good.

Angelo, a nineteen-year-old sophomore, still had no clue what he wanted to major in. He was still undecided. He was not artsy like his girlfriend. He didn't care for math or science. No interest in teaching, engineering, business, or none of the obvious. Right now he was getting his General Education classes out of the way in hopes of finding something to spark his interest.

He pledged Beta Rho because he knew Justin and Kent from back in his Dunlap Academy days. He was younger and not part of their crowd, but everyone wanted to be. Of course, they were pretty little white boys and he was the overlooked Mexican. He had to prove himself by working twice as hard as they did.

Now he was here, equal standing as them.

Except he had something they could never manage. Finding the love of his life.

"You have to pick a major this year, boopie!"

That was the nickname Valencia liked to call him and he didn't mind at all.

"Do I? Maybe I'll wait till next year."

"Boy, are you crazy?" Valencia grabbed him in a hug. "So you're going to take classes not against your major and whenever you decide then you may have taken extra classes."

"It's just not my priority right now. But how about you do great things in your major, let me figure out mine."

Besides, his growing drug business made more money than any career would.

His father was a major player in the cartel and still had family in Mexico that supplied him. Middle of Missouri was a great place to set up shop twenty-five years ago and supply most of the Midwest with cocaine. His father built an empire and they were off the grid wealthy because of it. Drugs were the reason why he could hobnob with the Scovilles and Greens of Midtown.

He started helping his father when he was only fifteen, doing small-time marijuana to the rich kids at Dunlap Academy. Now he added ecstasy and benzos. He was the one-stop shop to get high on campus.

Having a major meant nothing if he already knew what he wanted to do in life. Run his father's empire.

TREMAYNE LEE-First Date

He was rather shocked when a few days after exchanging numbers with that hot guy Gus, he called him to hang out with him.

Not a date, a hangout. They were hanging out on campus at the Lion's Den, having a bite to eat amongst many other students. Nice out in the open space. Not that he didn't trust the guy, but he didn't know him.

"You look nice," Gus said when he met him there.

Tremayne looked down at himself. He was dressed no certain way. Skinny jeans and a crisp white tee. He still believed in new fits for the first week of school.

"This isn't me looking my best, save the flattery for when I'm giving you all the energy."

"Well, you look good to me."

The place was nearly packed. The first week of school and going into the weekend. Everyone wanted to be out and be seen. They found a free table and grabbed it.

"You want anything to eat? It's on me."

"I can pay my way."

"You can get our next date." He stood up and headed to order food but did not ask him what he wanted. This was going to be interesting.

He still didn't know much about this man. He looked up his IG page and it was pretty tame. He wasn't a big party person but he liked to drink, he did not post random guys on his page or most of his business. Then on his TikTok page, he made videos about hanging with his friends, drinking, and traveling around the country over the summer.

Then Gus came back with their food, sub sandwiches, chips, and bottled water. He was impressed, or maybe he was just too easy to please. It was the simple things.

"I wanted to backtrack on what you said earlier," he said as he opened his chips. "Is this a date? You said, on our second date you'd let me pay, but I didn't know this was a date, I thought we were just hanging out."

"Hanging out is a date."

He looked Gus over. The man was gorgeous. A real catch. He probably had so many guys...and girls sliding into his DMs. He seemed like the type that just wanted sex and would quickly move on. He did not want to waste his time if that was the case.

"And how many dates have you had this week?"

He chuckled at that. "I ain't got it like that, do you?"

"If you're trying to ask if I sleep around, I don't. Do you?"

"What do you count as sleeping around?" Tremayne frowned at him and he chuckled. "I'm messing with you, I know what you mean. Yes, I like to have a lot of sex if it's offered to me, especially after I came out. But if I'm serious about someone I'm just with the one."

He only had three sexual partners. He felt like a newbie at this even though he had always been out, never in the closest.

"So let me guess," Tremayne looked him over. "With your height, please tell me you were a basketball player."

"Yes, in high school."

"And that didn't go over well, did it? Coming out while you were on a sports team."

"Exactly. Funny thing, I wasn't the only one, but by deciding to not live a lie anymore, I was shunned until eventually, I quit the team. I still had some DL teammates wanting to kick it with me, but never could I be with them any other way. That shit was bogus."

"Same. I can't do DL. It's like, the whole relationship is not real if I can't tell anyone."
He focused on his food for a while, eating a few bites.

"And you? No big coming out story?"

"No way! My mom said I was out day one. Nothing to hide. I was who I was. My dad even embraced it. Let me be me."

"That's nice, it's just me and my mom. My mom is my best friend and she stood by my side when the team was coming at me and trying to bully me off the team."

"But you left anyway."

"It wasn't like I was going to go pro or anything. Just a game. And coming out didn't stop the girls from shooting their shot. If I was the least bit attracted to girls, I had plenty to choose from."

He never had that issue because girls always knew he was gay.

"I have lots of friends that are girls, none ever tried to get with me that way. I guess it's more obvious I'm not on their team."

"But I bet you get a ton of guys hitting on you, huh? You're very...attractive."

Tremayne blushed. He never thought he was that attractive. Back in high school, he was the skinny, short gay boy who danced. No one noticed him. Not even the DL boys wanting a plaything. His mother was biracial, that's where he got his light skin and curly hair, but his father was dark brown and he looked like him in the face. A perfect combination of his parents made him feel totally blah.

To make up for his basic looks he made sure he was dressed to impress every day, kept up with his skincare so his skin was as smooth as butter, and of course made the most with his mop of curls on his head. This year he bleached one half side of his hair a blondish orange color and it totally made him stand out.

"Please tell me more about yourself," Tremayne said to him.

"Twenty-one, a junior, only child, what else? Oh, totally into you and going to make you mine, just watch."

He did like a guy that knew what he wanted.

Hey readers!

Can these guys have serious relationships while also being the bad boys on campus? We shall see.

XOXO
Kimberly
