Run. Just run. Keep going. Don't stop. Don't ever stop.

That's all the girl could think, pulling the hoodie she was wearing closer to her body, trying to  protect her chestnut brown hair from the hammering rain, that was thundering down from the gloomy, miserable sky above. Every grey cloud in the sky, just looked like it was ready to cry, bursting more and more raindrops down onto the darkened streets. Puddles that were glistening in the moonlight splashed beneath Frisk's boots, as she turned a corner into a dark alleyway, hoping that this way, she might be able to avoid the chase that had befallen her. She had thought to keep running, but something told her that if she did that, she would likely be caught that way.

This world wasn't fair. That's all she could think, as she sat, with her back pressed up against the cold stone wall behind her. She was hidden from sight, by a couple of boxes and other broken items that had likely been thrown out into the alleyway by people who did not want them anymore. Thankfully, a couple of the humans she had been getting chased by - police - had passed by the alley, not even taking notice to her shadowed hiding place. Curse that damn skeleton, who she thought she could trust. Why did she think she could trust him? Just because he was like her?

Because he was also an android?

That was the thing, in this pathetic world. Humans had built androids to do everything for them, their jobs, their housework, to take care of them, because they clearly can't do it themselves... They never asked to exist. They never asked to be created, yet humans trashed them and treated them like shit, like it was their fault that they were being overrun with androids. Even her owner, who had at first been a seemingly kind young man, quickly turned vicious, by throwing things at her, swearing at her, even going as far to physically try and hurt her. At first, she had never quite understood it. Being an android with a set of coding and programming that she was supposed to follow strictly, she just thought she was supposed to take it. All the abuse that came to her, she didn't blink an eye towards it.

Not until one day she just... Snapped. There was no way to describe it. She wasn't even sure she could put what it was like into words, despite being an android that had the capacity to think a million times faster than an ordinary human. One day, she found herself just... Fearing death. She thought her owner was going to kill her, so she somehow broke free, and decided she was allowed to defend herself. What he had been trying to do to her was... Despicable. It was something that had already happened on several occasions, but again, being an android, she was only supposed to comply. Never refuse.

He had been trying to rape her, and somehow, she decided: enough was enough. They had been struggling at the top of the stairs, and before she knew it, she had pushed him, and in the fall, he had broken his neck. She hadn't meant to kill him. She just... Wanted to defend herself. But after that day, she had been on the run ever since, trying to stay in hiding from that damn skeleton who seemed like a deviant hunter. He was an android, yet for some reason he was on the humans side... Why? She didn't understand.

When being on the run, the skeleton had sworn to protect her. Instead, he tried turning her in to the police. Had they managed to capture her, she knew she would have been destroyed. Humans didn't care for them, they didn't believe they had feelings. If they had to dispose of them, they would. She knew that if she was caught, it was only inevitable that she would be killed. And she didn't want to die...

"Damn it! I think she got away..." One police officer was huffing and puffing, seeming pissed that they had managed to let the android escape. And then another voice - one that was extremely familiar to the fearful android, who hugged her knees close to her chest when she heard them talking. It was Sans. He was still looking for her. He was still trying to capture her, and that was clear when he said something along the lines of: they had to keep looking, that she could be around here somewhere.

Could this world just be in her favour, for once, please? That's all she could think as the scattering rain continued to smash against her body, causing her dark hoodie and the rest of her clothing to continue becoming soaked. Fear seized Frisk's whole body, as she could see the clear silhouette of that skeleton, suddenly standing at the end of the alleyway. He had seemed like he was going to casually walk by, but it was clear by the fact that he had stopped in his tracks, and his eyes were narrowed slightly at the darkness before him, that he was checking whether or not she was here.

He took one step into the alleyway, before taking another, and then another. Frisk felt like she wanted to scream, as she didn't know what to do. She could react, and try to fight him off, so she could run again, or she could stay completely silent, so that he wouldn't find her. But he was going to find her, wasn't he? That fact felt inevitable, as he neared towards her hiding spot at a crawl pace, before she finally found him, standing directly in front of her, staring down at her. It was in that moment, she wanted to scream.

"P-Please, Sans..." Frisk begged, feeling terrified by his blank stare that he gave her, as if he felt absolutely nothing whatsoever. Because why would he feel a thing? He was an android. An android that was specifically designed to hunt deviants like her. It wasn't like he would decide to be soft on her. "I beg of you... D-Don't... Don't turn me in." She pleaded, trying to be quiet so that no one else would hear her. Slowly, Sans seemed to kneel down, still staring at her, but his posture seemed to change every so often, as if he was angling his head this way and that to properly examine her. The LED on the side of her head was glowing red, as if to say she was in danger.

"i have to. it's the only way i can accomplish my mission." Sans told her.

"B-But why? You're not even a human... Why would you help them hurt your own kind?" Frisk questioned, staring back at him with wide eyes filled with horror. She knew that if she had a heart within her chest, it would be beating a million miles per hour out of fear. Nothing but pure fear. "L-Look, I didn't MEAN to kill my owner, okay...? It was an accident!" Frisk blurted desperately. "He kept abusing me... And I just couldn't take it anymore! It hurt too much..." Frisk whispered, as tears began to spill down her cheeks, causing them to glisten a little, like the puddles upon the dirty ground. "...I don't want to die... Please..."

"Hey, Sans!" A voice yelled at the end of the alley, not being able to see Frisk due to the boxes that were blocking her from view, so the human wasn't able to see whoever Sans was talking to. "Why are you just kneeling and staring at the wall? You taking a shit?" They complained, despite the fact that their insult literally made zero sense, because that just wasn't possible for an android - or even a skeleton for that matter. Silently, Sans continued to stare back at Frisk, not saying a word, until he replied.

"sorry, lieutenant. i had thought for a moment that i had found a detail of interest." Sans spoke, going to stand up and step away from Frisk, causing her to stare at him with wide eyes filled with shock. She had been so sure that he would throw her under the bus, but was he actually... Protecting her? She didn't understand. "there's nothin' here. chances are, they probably got away by now." Sans said, only for the human to cuss under his breath and leave the alley in frustration. Taking a glance over his shoulder, Sans stared towards Frisk, before finally deciding to leave. She could hardly believe it. He actually allowed her to escape.

Maybe she hadn't been so wrong in trusting that skeleton after all.
