It's Over [Mafiatale Oneshot]

Author Note: This one has some Frans in it I suppose, which is why I decided to include it in this Frans oneshot book. Yet another Mafiatale related thing I had written. Once again this isn't at all related to the current Mafiatale story I am already writing.

-----------------------------------

  Shit, shit, shit, shit.

Just keep trying to run, that was the only best idea the shot up skeleton could think of right now. At least until he came across an alley in the street, and he decided to duck into it - to hide. Right now he was pretty much running on fumes with the fact that he had several bullet holes struck through his bones, making his clothes not only also have bullet holes through them, but they were ending up badly bloodstained. He didn't expect to make it out of this.

It was only inevitable that he was going to be found out eventually. What could he have expected, with his younger brother being in the CIA? He escaped for a couple of years, being able to hide his secret. Being able to hide the fact that they were on very different sides, with him being in the Mafia. But now he knew, and now Sans was running for his life as not to be shot once more in the back by his pal Undyne.

He cursed profanities under his breath, resting his skull against the concrete bricks behind him as he was trying his hardest not to just pass out from the loss of blood. If only Frisk was here right now, if he hadn't been separated from her, he probably wouldn't be in this mess. They could have gotten away together, but instead this was happening. Maybe it was just always Sans' fate to die.

Groaning in pain, the older skeleton slowly pulled himself off the filthy ground, until he had to put all his weight into leaning against the wall. How was he supposed to get out of here? So far any attempt at trying to escape had only ended in failure, and trying to stay conscious, standing on his own two feet - that felt like an almost impossible task. Already he felt like his body was going to begin giving up on him, but he had to keep on moving. He hadn't hit 0 HP yet. He wasn't going to stop until he was dusted.

Hearing Undyne shouting to Papyrus and a couple of her other team members from just down the street, Sans exhaled knowing he had to get a move on. His eyes trailed towards a door which led into the next building, and he decided to take that as his best bet. He could really feel the burning pain of where the bullets had struck him now, and it was truly agonising. But he wasn't going to give up, he couldn't. Knowing that there was the possibility that he could get away, that he could escape, it kept him going. Because he knew he had to get out of this alive - to see Frisk again.

"He's in that alley! He's going into that building! Stop him!" A voice rang out, just as Sans managed to stumble inside, slamming the door shut behind him. Using any little strength he had left, he formed a bone to put it across the handle of the door and the wall, so that opening it would take some deal of effort. It should have bought him a little bit of time at least. He noticed some stairs that appeared to be leading upwards, how high up he wasn't sure. But perhaps if this building had a roof and a fire exit, he could get away. If only he had the energy to teleport right now, that would have been a life saver.

Sans held tightly onto the stairway railing as he kept pulling himself up with each step, knowing he had to be quick - that door jam was only going to buy him a limited amount of time. And he knew Undyne was bound to just get frustrated and use her magic to smash the entire door down. Blood was still seeping from his wounds, not as intense as before, but they were definitely still abominable and they were beginning to cause his vision to sway.

Just don't give up!

The suited skeleton was sure he was almost to the roof as he finally heard the entrance door at the bottom of the stairs crash open. They were in and they were after him - Undyne's pissed voice clearly being heard alongside Papyrus'. He of course sounded more panicked than angry, but it was his job to go after his own older brother. It was just the way things were with Sans being part of the Mafia, and Papyrus being part of the CIA. It was important for Sans to keep his job a secret, but he also wanted to make sure that Papyrus wouldn't feel hurt when he died.

Dying a terrible death was what was likely to happen to him and he knew it. He had always known it from day one of joining the group - of allowing Chara to be his boss. That's just how things were and he accepted it long ago. That is why he had only hoped to push his younger brother away, to get him to hate him. However, no matter how much he tried his younger brother was always too forgiving towards him. Even now, when he found out what kind of person Sans really was, he appeared hesitant to go after him, to hunt him down and kill him like the wanted criminal he was.

Making it through the roof door, again Sans used some magic to keep the door closed for as long as possible, while trying to search for some form of escape. Fuck, it appeared there were no fire exits to go down from up here. Looking over the edge, it looked like a long drop. He had cornered himself with no way out, and now he could hear the sound of feet slamming at the door to kick it open.

Exhaling, he just accepted his fate at this point, knowing he was done for as he turned to the door, only to see it open revealing an angry looking Undyne and a worried Papyrus, with several other team members who were part of the CIA. Not only that, but one of those group members had an extra person with them, holding a gun pointed to them. Of course, they had captured Frisk.

"Alright, that's it!" Undyne snapped. "I'm tired of you running, you little shit! You're getting on my fucking nerves!"

"well, it's not like i've exactly got anywhere else to go." Sans shrugged his shoulders as he was standing near the edge, his back turned to what felt like the endless fall below. His eyes trailed to his brother, who was just staring at him with wide fearful eyes, obviously not wanting Sans to be killed before him. And he clearly did not want to be the one to do the deed. "no hard feelings, paps. you're forgiven." He told him, which only made Papyrus put a hand to his mouth as he began to sob. Undyne exhaled and rolled her eyes.

"Oh boy... Can you stop with the crying, Papyrus? I understand he is your brother, but he is also a dangerous member of the Mafia. If we don't take him out now, you know he's only going to continue killing and hurting people. And it is important that we make sure that the Mafia is eradicated." She said seriously. "So, if you're going to let your emotions get in the way of your job and you won't do it, then I'm afraid I'll have to." No answer. "Well then, I suppose that settles it, ain't that right, punk?" She growled towards Sans who let out a small "hmpf", showing he couldn't really care either way. "Well, have you got any last words? Maybe to say towards your brother, or your girlfriend?" She mocked the word 'girlfriend' as if she was an eight year old primary school student. Sans simply rolled his eyes before glancing towards Frisk and giving her a sad smile, while she just shook her head with tears streaming down her face. Clearly she didn't want to see him die.

"i'll see ya around, kiddo. don't forget how much i love you, 'k?" He managed a pained grin and a wink, which only caused her to break down and sob more. Again, Sans glumly glanced towards his brother who seemed speechless. "and paps... i'm sorry. i'm sorry you had to find out and witness my death. i never wanted that to happen." He admitted. "and i'm sorry for not taking the path you could have hoped of me. i know you probably hate me."

"I don't hate you, Sans." Papyrus muttered. "I'm just... Shocked. I had no idea when it was really under my nose all this time."

"heh, well, that's what happens when you live with a brother who is good at lyin' to you." He told him, his eyes finally landing on Undyne who looked bored and unamused as she just wanted to get this whole thing over and done with.

"Are we done?" Undyne questioned. When getting no answer, she continued and raised her gun towards the skeleton, narrowing her eyes at him. "Sayonara." She growled, right before an ear-piercing noise rang out into the air, the cause of that noise obviously being Undyne's gun. She had pulled the trigger, and everything just felt like it had gone into slow motion.

Frisk's voice had screamed out to him as the soaring bullet connected right with his ribcage, causing him to stumble backwards, going over the edge. The last thing he saw was their panicked faces, before falling down to the world below. But right before he felt like his life was going to slip from him, he couldn't help but faintly smile, glad that this whole thing was actually over. He just hoped that everyone would be able to move on, would be able to live a life without him. Especially Frisk. He'd have to keep an eye on her, whether that'd be from above or below, he didn't care. He just cared to know whether or not she was okay. But one thing was for sure...

It was over.
