Day 10: 17th January 2025
Ch2 of Bill and the Whistling Death by CroodsGirl
STOP If You Want To Read This Book. Spoilers Ahead.
For those new here, I strongly recommend reading About Frankly Speakin' before diving into my thoughts.
Great! Let's get started :)
If it wasn't for the line "Don't show emotion, Bill", I wouldn't have stayed for the rest of the chapter. That line evoked a sense of rage in me, and that made me realize that I was already on Bill's side, rooting for him like how a reader should for a protagonist.

Now I want to know how Bill gets over this nasty trauma. As beautifully shown in Chapter 1, he can't overcome it without a miracle or two, so the supporting characters better be good.
Lol. Lol. Gasp. Lol.
Glad I stuck by, folks.
I definitely see Bill staying as a volunteer with what happened in Chapter 2, especially with the cliffhanger. Like, he should stop blaming the diesel coffee.
The line from the previous section did come to haunt Bill again, causing me to be defensive and thus absorbed into the story. Also, I loved how he officially became a volunteer; it reminded me of my first days at the Wattpad Ambassadors program (although the latter is virtual, but still, you get the point). He was like a kid at a candy store when the briefing was going on...and I hated it when he tried to suppress it.
It's been exactly a week since I've read the first chapter, and while I remembered the Corsair, I embarrassingly forgot about the Yorktown. While the second chapter did brief the ship, I wanted to learn more. The author's note about the USS Yorktown was delightful, informative and at times, hilarious. I may remember the ship for some time.
Yippedy yep.
I'm not going to explain more. Do check out the Frankly Good Chapter 2 of Bill and The Whistling Death by CroodsGirl. I'll be back with thoughts on Chapter 3 same time next week.
Until next time,
Ruki
P.S. All the best to all the Ambys Round 3 Qualifiers! Fingers crossed for your wins!
P.P.S. Anyone joining the ONC 2025? I hope to enter with a Fanfiction with the challenge I've set for myself at the beginning of this year (writing a Romance)...so any handy tips? (I've written shorts, but novella's the next level) 😅
