FRANKENSTEIN
29 | The Polar Express.
"IT'S a magic carpet, on a rail. Never takes a rest. Flying through the mountains and the snow! You can ride and join the fun, if you just say yes! Cause that's the way things happen on the Polar Express!" Jolene screamed at the top of her lungs, running through the living room - her big red curls bouncing.
The little five-year-old was dressed up in her conductor costume, still in the Christmas spirit. Her brand new toy bear she received for Christmas was being dragged along as she sang.
"Jolene, it's not even Christmas anymore! It's New Years Eve!" An nine-year old Hadlee whined looking at her little sister. "Mom, make her stop." She scowled, seeing as Jolene had completely ignored her.
"Oh, don't be like that Hadlee. Have some Christmas spirit!" Michelle shook her head, watching as her youngest daughter ran around excitedly.
"But it's not even Christmas!" Hadlee exclaimed with a groan.
"Quit your whining, and come snuggle with me." Michelle rolled her eyes at Hadlee's attitude.
"But you're already snuggling with Donica!" Hadlee crossed her arms pouting at her mother and older's sister's form on the couch.
True to her word, Donica was in fact nestled up against Michelle's right side. The eleven-year-old Donica stuck her tongue out at her sister, before leaving her mother's side. "No, Donica don't go. I have an entire left-side for Hadlee to cuddle against." Michelle tried to get her oldest daughter to come back to her.
"I know, I'll be back in a second. I just want some food." The eleven year old shrugged walking to the kitchen.
"Ha!" Hadlee giggled, running and cuddling into her mother's left-side.
Her mother scoffed shaking her head, at Hadlee's antics before pulling her close. Hadlee smiled as she stayed close to her mother, receiving her love. Just a few minutes later, Anthony walked into the room covered in soot, followed by his son who was just as equal of a mess. The two male's were covered in soot, both having a permanent smile etched onto their faces.
The seven-year-old Maverick laughed at his mother and sister's facial expressions when they saw them. "You're all stinky!" Hadlee pinched her nose in disgust looking at the two.
"Anthony, what happened to you two?" Michelle was at a lost for words, looking at both her son's and husband's appearance.
"We started making a real-life android!" Maverick excitedly yelled, answering for his father.
"That is exactly what happened." Anthony nodded smiling, pointing to his son.
Upon hearing the racket, Donica walked in with a spoonful of ice cream. As she took a bite, her eyebrows furrowed seeing the state her brother and father were in.
"What happened to you two? You look like you just got dragged through a pile of trash." Donica asked licking the ice cream.
"No fair, she get's ice cream?" Hadlee and Maverick began to complain to their parents.
"Donica, you know you're not suppose to have ice cream without our permission." Michelle scolded her daughter.
"She took my spot." Donica held her hands up.
"That is true." Anthony said, knowing he wasn't even there.
"Anthony!" Michelle scowled.
"Hey look, ten seconds till midnight." Anthony tried to get the attention off of him, succeeding.
"Jolene, stop singing and get in here!" Hadlee screamed.
Jolene flew in like a bullet running straight into her fathers legs. The force knocked her down, and she fell to her butt. Her father looked down at her with raised eyebrows, Jolene only glaring at him in reply.
Slowly she stood up, pulling her bear along with her. "Take a shower or something. No one wants you two pretending like your homeless." The sassy burn caused the entire family's mouth's to drop open, minus Hadlee who immediately howled with laughter.
"That wasn't nice." Maverick tried to reprimand his sister, unfortunately only digging his own grave.
"Neither is your face, but you don't see me saying anything about that." The sassy five-year-old stuck her nose in the air.
Both Donica and Hadlee laughed, running up and high-fiving their little sister. At the end of the day, no matter how much Jolene drove Hadlee crazy, they still held a deep love for one and other. Donica and Jolene almost never fought, and the two loved each other immensely. Maverick and Jolene were a different story. The two shared a love-hate relationship with one another, but were no doubt the closest two of all the siblings. They two held a very deep bond, and love with each other.
The parents were still gobsmacked that their five-year-old just gave such a hard roast. They were confused as to where she even learned that.
"Happy New Years!" Donica screamed with a mouth-full of ice cream, seeing that it was in fact midnight.
This marked the start of a new year, and new salty five-year-old.
