Chapter 2: Part I Curiosity Symptoms

"Oh my goodness! That was close! I hope the guards don't find the sewer." Fran said as she and (Y/n) climb out. "Oh... What is this place...?" Fran asked. (Y/n) looked around. They see a pile of trash in their left. Containing items such as a piano, a teddy bear, chairs, barrels, a pink torn mattress, a trumpet, and some wheels, that probably used to belong to bikes. Fran and (Y/n) walked over to the instrument.

"Hahaha! I remembered something funny!" Fran said. They take a pill again, and the sky turned red, and they see a shiny white ghost figure who quickly ran away. As they walked, they saw a tree with five hanging ghost heads, and a long white string of hair that hung from one of the branches, with a key hanging on the tree as well. "Wow! These are very rare leaves!" Fran said. "Uh.... Sis? I don't think-" (Y/n) began. The five heads blow in the wind. "Curiosity is damned! Damn you, curiosity!" They shouted. "Oh! I like to be curious, otherwise how will you learn things?" Fran asked. "What are you?" (Y/n) said. ""What" is the right question, but "why" should be more appropriate!" The heads said.

"We don't have time to chat, sir. We want the key, that's all!" Fran said. "Oh, but that key isn't ours! And it's not yours for sure!" The heads said. "Please, just give it to us! I want to know what door can be opened with this!" Fran said. "We couldn't care less. The affection towards you is simply none." They replied. "Ouch." (Y/n) said sarcastically. "You are very honest, I like that! I'm a person. Fran. And this is my sister, (Y/n). Pleased to meet you!" Fran said. "Interesting! Tell us more!" The heads said.

"We have a cat! Well, I had one. He's missing now, we have to find him!" Fran said. "Really...?" The heads said. "Can we have the key now?" Fran asked. "Look, person Fran, and sister (Y/n), we came from the south... Flying as always... And one of us got curious about this key! And all of us got stuck here. And because of our long hair, we can't get loose." This time only one of them spoke. "So you are also curious! Can we help you?" Fran asked. "We usually get stuck on trees... But we have something to fix that!" Another head spoke. "A beautiful comb, to comb our hair every time we get stuck!" Another head said. "Alright, do that then!" Fran said. "There is a problem, a filthy thief took the comb! Now we are stuck forever!" The heads said. "Somebody stole it?" (Y/n) asked. "If you find the thief and the comb, you will have the key! Deal?" One of the heads asked.

"Sure, but what does he look like?" (Y/n) asked. "It's a rat, a filthy narcissist rat! He took the comb to be beautiful!" The heads said. "We couldn't do much, so he ran away with it! Please find it and free us from curiosity!" One of the heads said. "I hope he hasn't gone too deep in the forest. We'll find him!" Fran said. "We will be here... waiting." One of the heads said. As the three keep walking, they see a closed up well, a white owl sitting on a branch, and an axe sitting on a tree stump. (Y/n) walked over. "An axe?" She asked. "Think we should keep it? Might come in handy if we need something to defend ourselves." (Y/n) said. "I'll keep it in our purse." Fran picked it up and put it inside her purse. Next they see a large red ant with a mustache and a cane. "Oh, wow! You really are a very big ant!" Fran said. "Who's there?" The ant asked. "Over here!" (Y/n) said, then waved her arms wildly in a playful manner and Fran snickers. "Oh, excuse me, sir... Are you real?" Fran asked. "Argh! You always ask the same thing! Always!" The ant shouted. "Uh... What do you mean by "always"?" (Y/n) asked.

"Of course I'm real. ... Where did you come from?" The ant asked. "Do you want the long, or short story?" (Y/n) asked. "Uh... short?" The ant asked. "We escaped a mental hospital." (Y/n) said causally. "But please don't tell anybody!" Fran panicked a little. "I won't tell, don't worry! But what are you doing here?" The ant asked. "Real bad things happened to us, sir... But now we're looking for our cat!" Fran said. "A cat you say..." the ant said. "Yes, our kitty! Black and gorgeous! Very sweet and clever!" Fran said. "Oh... I see. I'm sorry, girl.." the ant said.

"Oh, so you haven't seen it?" Fran asked sadly. "It happens to be that the cat is eaten. Chewed and swallowed!" The ant said. "Eaten?!" (Y/n) asked. "The black cat that came towards me in a hurry! I catch it! I give it to my Beetlepig!" The ant said. Fran and (Y/n) looked panicked. "You what?!" (Y/n) asked. "My Beetlepig is hungry! Oh, my poor Beetlepig hasn't had any food in days!" The ant said. "The blueberry time passed by and we ate them all!" The ant said. "Stop it! Can't you see? Mr. Midnight is the only one we have!" Fran put her face in her hands and began to cry. "Please, tell me that you are joking!" She sobbed.

"Oh, little girl! Don't cry! I can sing for you if you like!" The ant said. "What will we do now? You don't know how it feels to be alone!" Fran cried. (Y/n) came over and put her hands on her shoulders comfortingly. "I do know, yes. I'm the last one alive... Let me help you, yes?" The ant asked. "How could you possibly help us?!" Fran asked. "The digestion is not so fast you know. Maybe he's still alive inside the Beetlepig!"

The ant said. "But what can we do?" (Y/n) asked. "Kill the Beetlepig! He is also the only friend I have left, but I need the meat!" The ant said. "Oof, that's harsh." (Y/n) said. "I'm curious to know if our kitty is still in there." Fran said. "Do it! You can kill the Beetlepig! And I, Antonio the Greatest, shall eat the meat!" The ant said. "Don't worry, I'll handle this!" (Y/n) took out the axe from Fran's purse, but before she could kill the Beetlepig it squeaked and ran off. They follow him. "Hey, come back!" (Y/n) shouted.

Fran saw an owl feather and picked it up. They walked back to the ant and Fran tickled him awake. "Sir! Wake up now! I think the Beetlepig doesn't like the idea of being killed!" She said. "Oh, I see. But that is completely normal, isn't it?" The ant asked. "He's got a point there." (Y/n) said. "Yes, but what should we do then?" Fran asked. "You have to give him the special berries! The blueberries! Mmm!" The ant said. "...But there are no berries in these woods!" (Y/n) said. "I shouldn't say this to you, but... I have the right connections! They live inside my house! They have blueberries!"

The ant said. "My house is in that direction! Be careful!" An arrow points downward. "Oh, thank you sir!" Fran said, and they followed the arrow to a big brown house with a wooden door. Fran walked over to the door, and tried to open it. "It's stuck." (Y/n) took out the axe. "Here's Johnny!" She broke the door open. As they looked around, Fran put a doorknob and some glue in her purse. (Y/n) looked into a small house, to see little pinecone creatures inside making berries. "Sis, come look at this!" (Y/n) and Fran peeked inside. "Creepy..." Fran took a hanging piece of meat, then took a pill, and sees lots of bugs crawling around a skeleton. She throws the meat to the bugs, then takes an anti bug bag from the ground.

(Y/n) put a trap inside the mini barn, then shoved one of the creatures away and grabbed some of the berries. "Got em!" (Y/n) said, and they quickly run out. They find the Beetlepig, and (Y/n) gives it the berries. (Y/n) used the axe and killed it, and a rat came out, but there was no cat. "What? You are not our cat!" Fran said. "Oh, miss! You saved me from misery!" The rat said to (Y/n). "But where is Mr. Midnight?" Fran asked. "I assume that you are feeling disappointed. Who are you looking for?"

The rat asked. "Our cat! Our lovely cat, Mr. Midnight." Fran said. "Oh, miss lady! I'm not very fond of cats you know... A black one with very big yellow eyes was trying to catch me!" The rat said. "Really? You seem to get in trouble often..." (Y/n) said. "Wait, could that be him?" (Y/n) asked Fran. "Oh, my lady! If he is, then he's the one in trouble now!" The rat said. "What do you mean by that?" (Y/n) asked. "I can show you. Follow me, please. It's not far from here." They followed him. "Here we are. Somebody took him, miss... They just disappeared!" The rat said. "Could you be more specific?" (Y/n) asked. "I wish I could. It looked like the earth swallowed them..." the rat said. "If there is anything else I can do for you, just let me know. I'll be around." He said.

"Excuse me, did you steal a hair comb?" Fran asked the rat. "Oh, the hair comb... the shiny, beautiful hair comb!" He said. "Can we have it, please?" Fran asked. "Alright, then... but can you please comb my hair first?" The rat asked. "Yes, I can comb your hair!" (Y/n) said. (Y/n) used the comb to comb his fur. "Thank you lady. You are very kind." The rat gave her the comb. They go back to the tree with the ghost heads. "Here is your beautiful comb, misters!" Fran said, then she used it to untangle them,

and they began to spark. "Oh you, Fran the person! You finally did it!" "Whoa, what's happening?" (Y/n) panicked a little. "Hope the key opens the door you wish to open! Now we fly south at last! Goodbye!" The heads then fly off in small glowing pieces. "Oh! Beautiful! Goodbye shiny misters, have a nice trip!" Fran said, then took the key hanging from the branch. She created a door to use for the well, then used the key to unlock it. "It worked! Woohoo!" Fran said. "What a curious little door..." (Y/n) said as they crawled through, then go down a flight of stairs. "I wonder where it will lead us." Fran said, then she removed some curtains out of the way. "Mr. Midnight? Are you here...?" She asked. Suddenly a hand came out from behind, and red string came out, which caused them to faint.
