Lia panted slightly as she glanced around the dozens of motionless agents scattered across the ground, navigating her way through them towards the hallway.

She reached her hand up to her comn. "Yelena? Do you hear me?"

The blonde's voice came through a few moments later. "Yeah. I'm at the ground floor. Where are you?"

"I'm on-" Lia got cut off when a blur of dark blue charged straight at her, punching the air out of her lungs and sending her flying back.

She groaned painfully, gasping for breath. Her vision grew blurry and her ears rung as she tried to push herself up to her feet, a dull ache coursing through her body, knowing she'd bruised a few ribs.

Her hand reached up to her ear, plucking the broken comn piece out. Taskmaster made his way towards her, claws retracting from his gloves as he tried to swipe at her. Lia barely had time to roll out of the way, his hand punching the ground where she just was seconds ago.

Lia got in a defensive stance, blocking another blow that was aimed for her throat before striking him in a blink of an eye. Taskmaster felt pain in multiple places but he hadn't even seen her move.

He groaned before taking a deep breath, remembering his training, trying to keep calm before continuing to assault the female in front of him as the two kept on exchanging blows after blows.

Lia lunged straight for him with inhumane speed. Taskmaster didn't see her coming for him and was roughly smashed through another wall. He got up with some degree of effort which he hadn't had to use in years.

The enhanced being in front of her was the only one that could keep up with him and it frustrated him immensely. He propelled himself at Lia with a powerful punch who expected it, skilfully sidestepping to the side.

The force of his punch made him stagger slightly and Lia took this chance to grab onto his arm to judo-flip him, pinning him roughly to the ground. Black dots began to fill his vision and the mask on his face was stifling his breathing. He tried to push against her but it was no use.

"Had enough?" She hissed in Russian.

Taskmaster suddenly twisted himself skilfully out of her grip, pushing her back roughly to the side. Before Lia could quickly recover from whatever had just happened in a blink of an eye, his fist made contact with her stomach with brute force.

She hunched over in pain as a wheeze escaped her lips. Taking this chance, he then delivered a roundhouse kick to her face. Lia's vision turned blurry and her ears started ringing as her face slammed roughly against the ground, making her cough out blood.

He lunged at her once again, sending her crashing through the edge of the floor, falling through multiple floors straight towards the ground floor. The nephilim gasped for breath and groaned as her back landed roughly against the hard pavement.

Lia coughed continuously for a few moments, blood seeping through her mouth before closing her eyes and drawing a deep, pained breath. She let out another grunt before forcing herself to her knees, hearing a cracking noise, knowing she'd broken a few ribs.

Taskmaster made his way towards her once again only to realise that she wasn't even fully paying attention to him. Lia was focused behind him on Yelena, who was fighting his men, the suitcase still in her possession.

Realising this, he took his chance. Whipping out his sidearm, Taskmaster aimed his gun at the blonde and shot at her. The trigger eased back and the bullet exited the barrel. Lia's eyes widened, using the last of energy to move just in time to push Yelena out of the way.

Yelena glanced up to see Lia standing protectively over her, blood seeping through her torso where the bullet had tore through, staining her white shirt crimson. Before Taskmaster could inflict any more harm to her, the blonde hurriedly reached out for the gun lying next to her, shooting at the chandelier hanging  above him which came crashing down on him.

Lia fell to her knees, panting heavily, her hand pressing against her wound. Yelena's eyes widened, quickly slinging the nephilim's arm across her neck and dragging her towards a temporary shelter, leaning her gently against a wall.

"Hey, hey. You alright?" Yelena asked in a worrisome tone.

"I thought you didn't care about what happens to me," Lia teased, smiling tiredly.

"Shut up, Herondale," Yelena muttered.

"You're cute when you don't want to admit things, you know. Go on, just say that you care about me," Lia smirked, letting out a cough as she tried to control her ragged breathing.

Yelena stared into her golden eyes. "You're an idiot."

"Eh, close enough." Lia shrugged, trying to stand back up again.

"What are you doing?" Yelena tried to pull her back down. "You're hurt. Stop moving."

"It's just a dull pain. I'll heal quickly."

"You should be resting instead of trying to move around," the blonde chastised. "Unless you're a superhuman which you aren't."

Lia let out a sigh. "Angel."

"What?" Yelena blinked, almost doing a double take.

"I'm a nephilim, half angel," Lia stated.

"This is seriously not the time to joke, Herondale," Yelena stared at Lia, who's expression was dead serious which was very rare expression for her. "Wait, you really are serious."

"Yes." Lia stood up before gesturing to her wound. "Don't worry, it's already healing."

Yelena studied her cynically while Lia let out a sigh. "I'll explain everything later. Do you trust me?"

A few more seconds passed before Yelena finally replied. "Yes."

"Thank you." Lia smiled genuinely before her expression turned solemn. "You need to leave right away with that suitcase. I'll meet up with you back at the hotel. I'm going to make sure we aren't being followed."

"I'll be right behind you. Don't worry," Lia reassured, a teasing smirk growing on her lips.

"I'm not worried about you," Yelena retorted, punching Lia's shoulder but it was gentle, from the blonde's perspective.

"See you soon," Lia said in Russian with a grin.

Yelena stared at her in surprise, having no idea that Lia knew her native language, watching her walk away from her view with a look of shock.

"See you soon," Yelena found herself replying in Russian, a small smile forming on her face as she sprinted towards the exit of the now torn building.
