What Went Wrong

She lay there

On her back,

Wondering what went wrong.

Her dreams morphing

Into nightmares,

Haunting her for so long.

The melody plays

In her mind,

Thoughts dancing to the song.

She thought that

Pain subsides,

But it only returns strong.

She clutches her

Heart in despair,

Trying to calm the throbbing throng.

Her eyes then open

To a dimension,

Where she does not belong.

A place where

Everyone is at war,

And no one gets along.

Violence and brutality

Cuts open the atmosphere,

With not so much as a ding dong.

She was not

The least bit prepared,

For her fall had lasted all year long.
