❄Past❄
I took a deep breath and knocked on the door.
"Come in." Mom said from the other end as I placed my hand on the door knob and shifted my weight from one foot to the other and finally opened the door.
"Baby, do you need anything?" Mom asked as she dropped her laptop and turned to me as I hummed quietly to myself.
"Okay then. Sit." She ordered as I fidgeted with my hair and swayed slightly where I was standing.
I glanced around the room and refused to make eye contact mom as she stared at me.
Here goes nothing.
"Mom, I want to go to Ohio." I said chewing on my lips.
"Why Ohio?" Mom asked with a slight frown.
"I want to get away from here and I also want to be where she loved." I said as I looked at mom squarely.
She sighed and said,"What about school?"
"There are schools in Ohio." I snapped.
"On one condition." Mom said and smirked.
"That is?"
"You must go for therapy, you must take your drugs, you must stay for exactly three months, bodyguards will be with you and if you relaspe once, you come back to California."
"That's like five conditions." I whined.
"I know." She said mocking me.
"I also have my conditions mom." I said and she looked at me shocked.
"No bodyguards. Instead, Sage is following me." I said and she visibly shrunk.
"Why?"
"You trust her. We both know she would take good care of me and make sure I eat and all those crap." I said expecting an answer from mom. She seemed to be battling with herself on whether or not Sage should come with.
"Fine." She said and picked up her laptop signalling the end of the conversation.
I walked out of her room beaming as I walked to Sage's room. I honestly do not know why mom decided to buy such a big house when we were only five in the house. It was suppossed to be Mom, Dad, myself, Sage and Clara. Clara was our maid.
She's 5'1, brown skinned with pale green eyes and smooth black hair reaching her mid back. My mom pays the bills of all her workers. She pays for Clara's school and still gives her salary of a thousand dollars every month.
Mom takes a special liking to Clara maybe because she is a girl and she is still in school. Dad hasn't come home for two weeks now. Not that he was always at home, but at least in two weeks he comes home once.
Maybe he was avoiding me after my outburst. I walked into Sage's room. All our rooms were designed by mom. She always made sure we weren't lacking.
I'm very sure if I did a charity and gave out fifty percent of my clothes, the other fifty percent is like two hundred people's closet. That was how much my clothes were.
Sage's room was spotless, and yes, Sage is the neat freak of the family. Her white walls perfectly contrasting her black bed spread.
"Who uses black bedspread?" I thought and chuckled.
Sage finally noticed me and gasped. She had been so engrossed in picking something to wear from her closet. The placed her hand on her chest and said,"Ah! It's just you. You scared me."
"I'm sorry. Didn't mean to." I said trying to stifle my laughter.
"So what do you want?" She asked sweetly as she walked into her closet. Her closet was organised. From bags, to clutches, purses, jewerly, shoes, bikins, boots, sweaters, sleeveless, gowns, mention it. It was all in her closet.
If you haven't started guessing, I might as well tell you that my sister, Sage; is an aspiring model. She's 5'3, slender with her long blond straight hair resting on her buttocks, she eats a lot and yet she maintains her slender nature. Not an ailment though.
"I came here to tell you that you'd be acompanying me to Ohio for three months." I said with a smirk and counted three in my head.
"Ohio? That's great! I'd get to- wait. Isn't that where Amelia came from? Oh Violet!" She said a bit overwhelmed.
"Just three months Sage. We're going to school there and mom wants you to make sure I stay sane." I said trying to lighten the mood instead I made the tension thicker.
"New friends, new faces. That's good news." She said before mumbling,"really wish you could move on."
"When do we leave?" She asked brightly but I could see the sadness in her eyes.
"Tomorrow." I said and left her room.
I went to my room and packed all the things I needed to take. I stared at my phone and a tear escaped my eye.
Andrew was still in coma and here I am, running off to Ohio. What hurt me the most was the text I just received from dad; short but heartbreaking.
New therapist: Miss Tessa
Location: Ohio
Hospital: Xander specialist hospital.
Appointments: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Bye.
How could he do this to me? He couldn't even try to stop me from going. Instead he urged me and even gave me a new therapist. My therapist here, Mrs. Mia; the only thing I had ever told her was my name.
Throughout the session, all she did was try to cajole me to say something but she always fail.
He got me a new therapist. He doesn't care for me. "I'm now one of his office toys. He thinks I have an issue. Do I have an issue? I'm mentally stable right? Someone answer me!" I screamed in my head as I got to my room and fell limp on my bed.
I thought about a lot of things while I sat on my bed. A new school, new teachers, kids in school... I was not bothered about school being a straight A student.
I took my phone and googled schools in Ohio that have a basketball team but the ones I found, mom would never allow me to go there. So I settled for a school without a basketball team named Harvey high school.
Honestly, the name alone had the ability to make me re-think my decision but I didn't. I re-checked my bags and then removed my personal basketball from it.
I held it in my hands for a moment and stared at it before kissing it and placing it gently on my bed.
"Violet, wake up. Its time for dinner." Mom called.
"I want a box of chocolates." I said snuggling deeper into my pillow.
"Violet! Get your ass out of that bed before I come and do it myself." Mom screamed.
"Will you give me some mac and cheese?" I asked no one in particular.
"Baby girl, come downstairs. We have to talk." I knew that voice anywhere. It was dad. Dad?! He's here?
"Yeah, I'm right here baby girl." He said.
I said that out?
"Yeah, you did. Again." He said and chuckled.
"Get up before your mom gets here." He said and I groaned. I got up and he was already out of the room.
What the hell did he want to talk to me about?
I walked down the stairs and saw Sage and Clara chirping happily, I walked pass them and went to the kitchen. I saw dad sitting on the island and typing away on his phone so I sat right in front of him.
He raised his head up and looked at me with raised eyebrows.
"I should be the one with raised eyebrows here. After the text you sent me." I said and glared at him.
"It's not about who is suppossed to have raised eyebtows here. It's about you." He said sternly as I tapped my foot on the ground furiously.
"Your behaviour these days are very disturbing and I'm worried about you." He said and I scoffed.
"Yeah right. You're worried. You have a very good way of showing that." I said coldly.
"So I researched and found out that-"
"I clearly remember telling you that I'm not one of your patients. So stop treating me as one. I am your daughter and the least I expect is to be treated as your daughter." I screamed and got up walking furiously to the door.
"You might as well want to sit down for this." Mom said as she walked into the kitchen.
"What the hell do you mean by that? You all set me up? So much for family" I said and scoffed as I grabbed the nearest barstool.
"So what are you going to do? Hun? I'm leaving tomorrow. At least I can give you some space to be away from your crazy daughter." I said and started laughing so hard.
"Why are you so bitter?" My dad asked in a whisper.
I looked up at him and said,"I'm so bitter because I feel alone, because I feel like the only two people that wanted me in their lives are gone. I feel useless and worthless. I can't even score a three pointer anymore. Don't you get it! I'm fucked up in the head. I contributed to my bestfriends death. I am a terrible person. That's why I am bitter. I am bitter because I feel like the black sheep because you're all good, and I'm bad."
Dad opened his mouth to say something but shut it. He tried to say something again but he couldn't.
