RITA ROSE has never known factioned life. She's always lived in disarray with a family much like their surroundings; mix-matched, worn, and patched together. Despite "lacking" what a faction has, Rita's never felt unloved. Her parents never let her go without love, even if they went without food.

Being among the factionless gave Rita a particular view of those who were born into factions. She knows both are ignorant to some degree, but she found it odd how they [the factioned] never noticed their lack of personalities. Unlike those who live in factions, Rita found the diversity among her fellow factionless, otherwise known as Fractured, to be refreshing.

Especially when working with factioned kids her age, she soon knew how they all acted according to their factions. Some students struggle in school and while the Erudite seem like good teachers, they're more learners than anything. So when the strangely intelligent Rita was offered a job based on her IQ, she took it.

Candor students were blunt, Dauntless brash, Amity a bit too forgiving for her liking, and Abnegation... even when they knew their bad scores were going to tank their grades, they thought of how it would hurt their parents (or burden Rita for "wasting" her time)... to say the least, Rita didn't fair well with Abnegation, for more reasons than one.

I started writing this as a self-insert fic in June when our power was out for 5 days and I read Divergent to pass the time... and now I want to flesh it out because I have THOUGHTS. I'm a Tobias Eaton simp and I can't wait to make this man fall for the bad bitch that is Rita Rose <3

Tris Prior is still in this story, I won't be erasing her storyline but this is sort of an alternate universe fic lmao. A lot of the beginning will be similar to Divergent, but as the story branches off toward Rita's lesson/story, it will become more "original".

I am not muslim myself but Rita is, and while she is not "super religious" her identity is important to who she is. I may get some things wrong but I will change them as the story continues! There is a romantic plot between Rita & Tobias which I know isn't halal but they will only kiss and other clothed "activities".

There are descriptions of Rita's hair and instances in which she is exposed both clothing wise and head covering wise. I do not use these instances for shock value or to make a mockery of hijabis, just to write Rita authentically as this story is told from her perspective.

I promise to write her with the respect and care that is deserved.
