Less than 0.01% of the population are born as gemstones. They have odd colored hair, they can summon a weapon made of their gemstone, and they have their own mounts they ride into battle. At the age of 5, they are taken to the castle to become royal guards. They are trained, and at the age of 16, taken into battle for the first time. At 18, they become fully-fledged guards. As of right now, there are 14 guards. Onyx, Jasper, Diamond, Jacinth, Jade, Opal, Emerald, Quartz, Azurite, Citrine, Amethyst, and Coral. Garnet and Ruby are underaged and are not full guards. 

Then there is Sapphire. She isn't confirmed to be an actual guard, as she shows up randomly, vanishes into this air, and never shows her true face. She has been dubbed "The Sapphire Phantom" by many townsfolk. She is basically a myth.

Human, but glows in the dark, and has a golden halo on her head. She also has small white wings on her back and is able to hover, but not fly.

Has dragon horns and a dragon tail. Can breath fire in small bursts.

Rainbow. 

19 years old. 

Is able to talk to animals, and has cat ears and tail. 

Alec. 

16 years old. 

Ruby gemstone. 

Amber. 

15 years old. 

Human.
