[Chapter Six: Understanding] ~(Y/n)'s POV~

I woke up groaning. My head was pounding, and my throat was dry. I hissed when I moved my arm and looked over to see it was bandaged up.

'What the hell?' I thought. 'Where am I!?' I scrambled to get up but soon found out that something was on top of me.

I looked at the lumbering body and rolled my eyes, pushing him off. I coughed and said hoarsely.

"Get off me you pig." Nightmare whined and jumped off, and I swear he was pouting.

'How dare you insult my species master (Y/n).... And to wake me up!'

He grumbled and paced the little room I was in. I smirked and said teasingly.

"You and your pride."

I laughed which turned into a coughing fit. Nightmare whined once again and bounded out of the door.

My coughing fit turned harder as I doubled over. There was the mumbled sound of cursing and worried yells and four shadows running towards my room.

"(Y/n)! Are you alright!?" Yelled.... Leonardo? I put a hand up and gulped in air as my coughing fit slowed.

"Where. The. Hell. Am. I?" I snapped.

"You in Leonardo's 'home.' It's actually a lair in the sewers..."

Said a voice from behind Leonardo, who stepped from behind him so I could a better look them. My eyes widened. "Julie!?"

She smirked and took off her usual black hoodie. "The one and only, (Y/n)!" I smiled and tried to get up but another... turtle pushed me down.

"You need to rest... Y-You took a bad hit to the head."

I looked up at the turtle who had a gap in his smile, stuttering, was very tall, and had a purple bandana.

"And who are you?" I sassed.

He blushed and looked down as Leonardo spoke. "This is my younger brother Donatello but call him Don, he's been taking care of you." I sighed and smiled slightly looking at 'Don.' "Nice to meet you Don, sorry for being a pain."

Don just nodded smiling shyly at me, before he walked out of the room, leaving me with my loyal pet, a new 'friend', and an old friend.

Leonardo smiled at me slightly, and I couldn't help but noticed how his eyes seemed to brighten when he looked at me.

I blushed - I blushed when I look at Leonardo and I couldn't help but smile back.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw Julie suspiciously wiggling her eyebrows. I blushed and turned away from Leonardo.

"So... What happened and why am I here?"

Nightmare jumped up on the bed and chuckled siting at my feet.

'Well... Ill explain what happened after the General took you to the 'room....'

'And that is how you ended up here...'

Nightmare finished as be sighed laying on the bed and putting his paws under his chin.

I gulped as I teared up. I remembered stepping on the... skull and then seeing all the thrown, burnt, bodies.

But to hear it come from someone else who was one of my trusted friends hurt.

The bed sunk as Julie say on the bed and leaned over giving me a tight hug.

"It's okay (Y/n)..." She said soothingly and brushed my hair. I snarled and shook my head as my eyes flashed black.

"N-No i-it's not!"

I growled as I started to shake. Nightmare whined and got up and walked over to me and nuzzled my chest. I started tearing up even more and shook harder.

And then Leonardo sat on the other side of me and put a hand on my shoulder and grabbed my chin and forced me to look at him.

My eyesight blurred but I could still see Leonardo's mesmerizing eyes.

"(Y/n) it wasn't your fault... We all have monster inside us that we cant control. Don't blame yourself alright?" He said forcefully.

I nodded but then said something that had been on my mind for hours, days, weeks, and years, ever since the day I murdered my people.

"But... Am I a monster, Leonardo?"

And I didn't care about Julie's hugging and soothing words, Nightmares whines and worried nuzzles.

I just cared about Leonardo's soothing eyes, and his warm smile as he told me the words I've always wanted to hear.

"You aren't a monster. Your (Y/n), the broken, misunderstood girl who just needs someone to hold onto..."

And then first the first time in years I willingly gave him a tight hug, and I'm glad that he hugged me back.
