Ellipses are not just random dots thrown onto a page. They have a specific use and it is only THREE dots. Only 3! No more, no less. Use an ellipse to show and intentional omission of words or a pause in speech or thought. Don't overuse it!

When reading an ellipse you're supposed to mentally count three seconds, one for each dot, so you can feel the general pause.
