20180623. alternate love interest tag

So I came up with this idea a little while back and figured that it would be fun to share it with you guys in the form of a tag, in case any of you would like to partake in the fun little idea, because I thought it was cute.

Basically, what this is is you take a look at your OC's and take a look at the canon characters within the universe you wrote them into and try to see how, with the same general background you gave them, they could end up with a different love interest and how that story would play out. It's just a silly little thing that can get you thinking about how fleshed out your character is.

Now, I'm not gonna tag anyone because I don't want anyone to feel like they have to do this, but if you want to, please do and tag me, because I wanna read what you guys came up with for your characters (also I wanna feel like I started something lmao)

For this, I decided to just use the original three characters in my Hero of Heroes series (Diana Smith, Rhett Reiser, and Nicky Green) since I don't want to bore you guys with a really long list...not that it won't be a ridiculously long list already.

[ ALSO IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: I WILL BE MAKING AN ENTIRELY SEPARATE BOOK DEDICATED TO WRITING THESE ALTERNATE STORIES FOR ALL MY HERO OF HEROES, NOT JUST THESE THREE, SO STAY TUNED FOR THAT BECAUSE I'M SUPER HYPED FOR IT ]

WARNING: SLIGHT SPOILERS AHEAD

º º º

DIANA SMITH !

Flash Thomspon

This isn't surprising for anyone, I hope we can all agree. Basically, it follows Diana's exact story to the letter, except she just falls in love with Flash. Many people in the comments of my story have mentioned that it seemed as though Diana and Flash had romantic feelings towards each other and while that could be potentially problematic considering their sibling-like perception of each other, if their feelings towards each other were changed to where they never truly saw themselves as family, it could end up working, which isn't too far fetched for them to achieve considering their relationship during the beginning parts of Lonely Hearts.

Diana would most likely still help out Peter, except it would be a purely platonic relationship, and the point of tension between the three of them would be similar to how it is in Lonely Hearts already, though she would be confronting Flash with different feelings and intentions.

Ned Leeds

This would be a very interesting story, not gonna lie. In this, the relationship between Diana and Ned wouldn't take off until Homecoming, though there would still be the pre-Civil War chapters, building up the relationship between Diana and Peter, showcasing their closeness so, when Peter ends up distancing himself due to the "Stark Internship," Diana goes to his best friend as a means to making sure Peter is okay, the two bonding over Peter, their job protecting him, as well as other things, most likely family.

With this, Diana's extended family might play a different role, either staying around longer or redeeming themselves earlier on, making them either a point of tension for Diana whilst dealing with the events of Homecoming or an aftermath situation.

Liz Allan

This is an interesting one that, after not being able to see Diana with Michelle, came to my mind in an interesting way. There are a few ways this could go down, either through Diana's relationship with Flash or through her relationship with Peter during Homecoming.

If through Peter, all the events leading up to Liz's house party would stay the same, except instead of leaving once Flash begins his "Penis Parker" chant, she stays and continues to talk to Liz, the two finding common ground between them, talking and forming a relationship, possibly even after Liz leaves.

More realistically if I were to write this story, however, would be a scenario in which Flash and Liz are, as hinted about in the movie (why would Liz make space for Flash to be a DJ when she could literally just put on Spotify and a speaker?) Liz and Flash are fairly good friends, possibly because in the comics, they dated.

So it's a situation in which Liz spends time with the Thompson family and, over time, Diana begins to open up to her as the girl constantly tries to make her feel welcome and, at first, it's not welcomed as the senior doesn't exactly know how to make Diana feel comfortable, but with time, it gets easier, even during the summer before Homecoming (though there is a lot of tension during the summer with Liz going into senior year and Diana in London) but they make it work, though Liz leaving would most likely sever ties.

RHETT REISER !

Bucky Barnes

There is so much room for this because Rhett doesn't remember anything about his teenage years which gives me so much room to play with the idea that he and Bucky were totally those kids who you can't tell are friends or enemies? Bucky thinks they're cool, though Rhett always kind of wished he wasn't as great as he was, as his mother would always say "why can't you be more like James, he's such a nice boy" and Rhett would be like "Jimmy, I hate you" but have major heart eyes.

So it's...sometime during the timeline and the two connect and they both come to terms with still trying to figure out their memories and Rhett helps him deal and it's just sweet, you know, that's all that it is

Sam Wilson

Now it's clear to me that most of these are all based around certain relationships Nicky Green will end up having, but there are a few ways this could work, one intertwining with Nicky's and another one separate.

To intertwine with Nicky, it's similar to how Nicky wound up with Sam, with Steve bringing him over for dinner, except now Steve would be dating Nicky. Rhett and Sam meet and learn about each other as they roll their eyes at their boys and how ridiculous they are, but also how much they care about them.

The other is similar to the way Rhett met Steve, except he wouldn't have any reason to want to get closer to Sam, other than he and the man often bump into each other while Sam goes on his runs and Rhett plays baseball. This pairing isn't entirely fleshed out, but I do think they could look cute together.

Bonus: Sam, Steve, and Rhett are in a poly relationship which takes place in one of Nicky's alternates that will be pointed out later on

Nastasha Romanoff

Remember, Rhett is pan. So this would take place in a world where S.H.I.E.L.D. is aware of Rhett's existence and actually care about him and what he can do, and Nat is sent to keep tabs on him. The two meet and Rhett either finds out quickly that she's an agent or doesn't find out until halfway through, but throughout the course of time, Nat actually finds herself caring a lot about him, and would help him in tracking down Hyde and taking him out, helping him cope with all that's happened.

NICKY GREEN !

Tony Stark

This is one I am very invested in. There are two ways this would go down, but I am a lot more invested in the second one, if I'm being completely honest.

The first takes place following the events of Lonely Hearts where Tony appears at the loft and he gets to talking with Nicky. Nicky tries to get him to go to sessions and Tony continues to decline, but they do still spend time with each other, because Tony is interested in this young man who he had never heard of but does a lot more than could be expected. They develop a relationship, but Nicky is not his psychologist because that's unethical and really not okay, though he would most likely convince Tony to go to sessions with a trusted colleague of his.

The second is one that luminite and I have been screaming about for some time. In this, it most likely takes place post-Avengers where Stark Industries, after Pepper severely pushes for it, hires psychologists for staff members who need it, as well as for ones that it would just be beneficial for them to have. Tony is pretty resistant, scoffing and groaning at the idea, until he's sent into the office of this really young guy who accidentally spills coffee on him. He's interested at why they sent in this child and they get to talking and Nicky really does get Tony to open up to him.

Never one for beating around the bush, Tony makes pretty obvious advances on Nicky because they do interact outside of their sessions since Nicky is around Stark Industries a lot, but Nicky refuses to pursue it because he's his psychologist. However, after some deliberation and talking with Rhett, he sets up Tony for sessions with another psychologist and that's when they actually start having a relationship.

The press goes nuts about it, invading Nicky's personal space to ask about what he's doing, what's going on, being really awful, and Nicky is really good at shouting at reporters about how he can't believe that he's going out with THE Tony Stark and how everyone would give their right arm to be in his presence for five minutes, but he gets to be with him all the time and he loves it. This is instance where Rhett would be in the poly relationship with Sam and Steve, Tony being the ultimate wing man whenever Steve dropped by the Tower

Basically, it's just about them healing and being really cute and domestic together, and I will be writing this story in that book that I mentioned up top because I love this so much.

Steve Rogers

The way I imagine this is Nicky might see Steve lingering around his office trying to approach for a consultation and strikes up a conversation and after some talking they decide that Nicky isn't necessarily the best suited for Steve—because in the original timeline, he can't be the psychologist that perfectly suits Steve, he's super close to it, but doesn't have everything—so he refers him to another psychologist, but Steve winds up coming back, because Nicky does know who he is and Steve is lonely, and in this Nicky does still know Tony.

The two wind up becoming really good friends and Steve listens to Nicky when he gets into a mood and convinces him to go to bed. Steve and Rhett reconnect, but it's purely platonic and the entire thing is incredibly domestic and the two barely realize they're dating until it hits them months later.

Bucky Barnes

This falls into a concept where Nicky did wind up working for S.H.I.E.L.D. like he had initially wanted, then moving onto the work with the Avengers after the fall of HYDRA and S.H.I.E.L.D. had to be rebooted up. He became a bridge way gap between Steve and Tony, despite the two not speaking, and he winds up going to Wakanda to learn more about how they're helping Bucky, especially after Wakanda opens their borders.

He stays by Bucky's side, learning more about him, and when he wakes up and is okay, he helps him integrate back, the two talking and bonding, Bucky becoming fond of the overly chatty psychologist and Nicky of the sarcastic, but sweethearted old man in a physically fit body. In this, if Rhett is with him, which he would most likely be, he would wind up with T'Challa.

T'Challa Udaku

It's the same concept as above, except T'Challa spends more time with Nicky, who is working alongside Shuri who wants to try her hand at AI's and human-esque designs, learning from someone who is highly learned in the human mind as a whole, as well as spending time with a sleeping Bucky.

Nicky is in awe of T'Challa, who is only three years older than him and ruler of an entire nation, and T'Challa is amused by the bumbling psychologist who is always trying to bow or be the best guest when, in reality, all T'Challa wants is for someone to treat him like a regular person, which Nicky is more than happy to do once he learns. In this instance, Rhett would wind up with Bucky.

So yeah! I won't be writing all of these, but some, along with many others for the other Heroes not mentioned here (Birdie Walsh and Stephen Strange being one), will be written all in the same book that I'm working on creating, so if you're interested, check out these.

And if you want to do this for yourself, be my guest I'd love to hear about it!
