20170626. underrated shows
I was tagged by dubrevh for this tag and I'd like to tag peggyscarter hazosterfield kingbIack and anyone else who'd like to do this, I just didn't want to fill this with tags, you know?
I just gotta say in advance that I don't really have the attention span for TV shows anymore, however I do occasionally watch and I remember shows that I loved so I will place an * next to all the shows I've stopped watching.
I also took blurbs from IMBD, though I added some of my own blurbs within them as well.
I. iZOMBIE*
Based on the comic book of the same name, the show follows Liv Moore, a medical student turned zombie medical examiner. When she eats the brains of a murder victim, she receives visions that can help solve the murder. With the help of her co-worker, Liv uses her abilities to aid a detective in solving crimes, posing as a psychic, all while trying to navigate the world and her own life which has been forever changed.
(Each episode is really unique and has such a variety of personalities which really showcases the variety of life which is a contrast to the lack of life in a zombie, which I find poetic. It's a really good show)
II. Criminal Minds*
The cases of the FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU), an elite group of profilers who analyze the nation's most dangerous serial killers and individual heinous crimes in an effort to anticipate their next moves before they strike again.
(This show shaped who I am as a person, though I didn't watch it in order. It's well done, they add little quotes at either the beginning of end of the episode, the characters are all lovely. It's just another crime show, but I was really into it.)
III. Superstore*
Superstore follows a group of employees working at "Cloud 9", store number 1217, a fictional big-box store in St. Louis, Missouri. This sitcom follows the employees as they struggle with their own personal issues, issues behind the scenes at the workplace, and the ever present struggle of the various eccentric customers.
(Okay, listen, this show is amazing. The cast is hilarious and diverse and they have great one-liners, it's incredible. This show is hilarious and reminiscent of Parks and Rec and The Office. It's set in a Walmart-like setting and they show the weird customers as like transition pieces, it's amazing, but I stopped just because I couldn't catch up)
IV. How to Get Away with Murder*
A group of ambitious law students and their brilliant criminal defense professor become involved in a twisted murder plot that promises to change the course of their lives.
(It's told in both present, flashback/flash-forward and it's just brilliantly written and directed. The characters are all unique and diverse and it really screws with your moral compass.)
V. Law and Order: SVU
In the criminal justice system, sexually based offenses are considered especially heinous. In New York City, the dedicated detectives who investigate these vicious felonies are members of an elite squad known as the Special Victims Unit. These are their stories.
(I watched it by accident and fell in love, the characters are great and they deal with current events. Yeah, it's not a perfect show, they do things wrong at times, but they're getting better. This is the only show I still watch, though it's not on currently, it's coming back in September. )

BONUS: CONVICTION (CANCELLED)
A brilliant attorney and former First Daughter is blackmailed to heading a unit that investigates cases of wrongful conviction.
(The show was cancelled after one season and it had mixed reviews, but I really liked it because it had Haley Atwell and Shawn Ashmore, plus that girl from the Walking Dead. Basically, the cast was good and I was fond of the show. It wasn't spectacular, but it was nice)
