Chapter 2

A/N: I had fun writing this, so please let me know what you think. I tried out a new dialogue layout and I think I like it better, so I will probably start doing it like this.

Disclaimer: I do not own Avatar: The Last Airbender or any of its characters!

As Aang wandered around this new place he couldn't help but think about Katara. Even though he had just met her he could tell there was something special about her, and he hoped he would get the chance to get to know her more. After nearly 15 minutes of just walking around he decided that he should just ask someone where the Main Office was. After stopping someone on the sidewalk and kindly asking for directions they pointed him in the right direction and he was on his way.

As he approached the office he was amazed by the design of the place. It was a large stone building, with several posts holding the roof up, similar to a courthouse. The posts themselves were works of art, each containing designs of the separate nations. Aang approached the large, mahogany wood doors, and grabbed the golden rails pulling them open. He entered the office and began walking towards the reception desk. Behind the desk sat two identical women, their name tags reading "Lo" and "Li". He approached the women and began to explain his situation hoping that they could help him.

"Hi, my name's Aang, I'm new here and I'm a bit of a special case, so I was hoping I could talk to whoever is in charge." Aang told the women.

In sync the women responded, "Yes, we know who you are, Avatar Aang, we were told of your arrival and have prepared a meeting with Principal Iroh. He is down the hall and to the left." "Um... thank you."

Aang responded stunned and thoroughly creeped out. He slowly backed away before heading towards the Principal's office. Iroh was waiting for him at the door, when he noticed a boy walking towards him sporting the blue tattoos of an Airbending master he knew immediately who he was.

"Welcome Avatar Aang, it's a pleasure to meet you, come on in!", he happily told the boy, gesturing towards the office as an invitation.

Aang accepted the invitation and entered the room before saying, "Thank you, and please just call me Aang."

Iroh nodded and said, "Of course Aang, please take a seat."

Aang placed his bag and staff by the door before sitting down in the fake leather chair. After Aang was comfortable Iroh walked around the desk and sat down in his chair. Iroh offered Aang some tea which he politely refused, as he just wanted to get down to business.

Iroh started, "When Monk Gyatso told me that you would be joining us, I was very eager to get to know you, and judging by your manners just know I know that you will do great here."

Aang smiled, he liked Iroh, he reminded him of Gyatso. "Well to be honest, I was a bit skeptical when Gyatso first told me about the idea, but I realize now what he was trying to do for me and I'm pretty excited," Aang told the man, "Actually I'm really excited!" He finished as the encounter with Katara popped into his brain, and he couldn't help but smile.

He came out of his trance when Iroh began to speak, "Well I'm very glad to hear that, but sadly there are a few matters that need to be discussed regarding your... special circumstances." He told the boy. "The first problem comes in the terms of your schedule, you see here we require that every student takes one combat class, these are your bending classes and for non-benders they are fighting classes. The problem is you can only take one combat class but I may have a solution to your problem. If you were to take one bending class per quarter then you could take all three bending classes."

At this Aang became a little worried and started to voice his concern to Iroh, "If I was to take all three bending classes then wouldn't it become quite obvious that I'm the Avatar?" "Well I suppose so, but it's the only way, however I can give you up until the second quarter to sort this out on your own but after that I will have to switch your class.", Iroh told the boy.

Aang took a deep breath, "I guess that's more than fair, thank you!"

Iroh smiled and nodded his head, "We can discuss the other problems when the time arises, I can tell you're very eager to explore the school."

Aang awkwardly laughed, in reality he was just thinking about finding Katara again.

"Well Aang, here's your schedule and your room key, If you ever need anything just find me!", Iroh told the young Airbender in a loving voice.

With that they both stood and Iroh escorted him out the door and softly shut it behind the boy in order to give him some space. After leaving Iroh's office Aang folded up his schedule and slid it into his back pocket.

He started towards the double doors and as he was about to leave Lo and Li turned to him and said, "Have a good day, Avatar Aang."

Aang turned around to make sure they were alone and said, "Do you think we could keep that a secret?"

"Consider it done.", the twin sisters told the boy and returned to their work.

Aang let out a sigh of relief and left the building. Once outside Aang looked at his key and read the numbers 321, that must be the room number, he thought to himself and headed towards the dorms using the map that Iroh gave him.

Once he arrived at the dorms he used his Airbending skills to jump up to the third story and started down the hallway. He was paying close attention to the room numbers as not to miss it.
327, 325, 323, 321, he found it. Aang took another calming breath before placing the key in the doorknob and twisting it until he heard a click. He pulled the key out of the door and opened it. There were two boys sitting on the couch when he walked in. One of them was tall with dark black hair, golden yellow eyes, and a scar on his left eye. The other boy was just a little taller than Aang and had blue eyes, with brown hair pulled back into a sort of man bun. They both stood up when Aang walked in and introduced themselves.

The shorter boy started, "Hey, you must be our new roommate, I'm Sokka and this is Zuko!".
The black haired boy grinned and waved.

"Hi, I'm Aang."

"Nice to meet you Aang, we already grabbed the bunk beds,so you can have the single." Zuko told him pointing over to the corner where a twin sized single bed lay.

"Oh cool, thanks!" Aang walked over to the bed and sat his stuff down on it.

The boys started talking and soon they had become fast friends. They asked Aang about his tattoos, where he was from, what it's like to be an Airbender. When Aang told them about his vegetarian diet, Sokka let out a harsh gasp and just stared at him with his mouth open wide gaping at the young Airbender.

"Here we go!" Zuko said sarcastically, before turning to see Aang's confused expression. Zuko let out a light chuckle and told him, "Sokka loves meat more than anything, including his girlfriend, but don't tell her i said that!"

They both laughed before Sokka came back to his senses and yelled at the top of his lungs, "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU! HOW CAN YOU NOT EAT MEAT!" The words echoed through the whole hall and soon enough there came a loud pounding on the door. Sokka stood up and walked to the door while Aang and Zuko talked. He reached the door and opened it, instantly regretting his decision.

Katara stood in the hallway with Suki right behind her. Sokka knew he was in trouble when he realized they were both here. He gulped and immediately backed into his room, Suki stalked towards him starting to yell at him, "What is so important that we could hear you yelling about it across the hall?" She asked him in a harsh tone.

Both girls started to walk into the room when Sokka said, "Well Aang told us how he doesn't eat meat... "

Katara immediately cut him off and interrupted, "Wait... Aang?" Both girls looked at each other before Katara pushed past her brother into his room. Katara stopped dead in her tracks when she saw him, the shaggy brown hair, the pearly white smile, the dirty white converse, and of course those breathtaking grey eyes. She blushed, He is so cute, she thought to herself before practically yelling, "Aang?"

He turned as he recognized the voice of the person calling his name, "Katara?". He blushed when he saw her, how could he ever forget her, the beaming smile that made him think he was going to melt, the long chocolate brown hair, and those beautiful  blue eyes that made him think of the sea.

Sokka interrupted Aang's daydream when he, as confused as ever said, "Wait you guys know each other...?"

Katara turned to her brother and said, "Yeah, Aang helped me when I dropped my books earlier."

Then she asked her brother the same question to which he responded with, "Yeah we're roommates." Katara gaped.

Finally Aang asked the same question. Sokka answered it by saying, "Yeah, she's my sister."

Now it was Aang's sturn to gape. Zuko stood up and spoke for everyone when he said, "What is happening?"

Suki interrupted, "I'll go get everyone else and we'll figure this out." she left and left them standing there, confused
