Ch.10 Attack on Kiten

~Y/n pov~

I ended up going to the capital with Yami, Charmy and Asta to meet the wizard king.

He wanted to talk about something.

"He was a member of the Third Eye, the strongest of the Eye of the Midnight Sun." Julius stated.

"He was Vetto the Despair."

"We'll send his corpse in for an autopsy and interrogate the other members." Julius walked towards Charmy, "Your binding spell is fantastic. That fluff is superb."

"Who are you?" Charmy asked whil shoving some food in her face.

Julius laughed and picked her up, "By the way, Yami, is this little one your child?"

"She's not." Yami sighed, "Here's the magic stone."

"Well done. I'm sure you've heard, but many lost their lives fighting at Raquey." Julius got serious again and placed Charmy back down, "The Black Bulls accomplished this very important mission without losing a single member. Absolutely brilliant."

Charmy tugged on my sleeve.

I gave her a questioning look.

She held her arms up to me.

I smiled and lifted her up into my arms.

She made herself comfortable and snuggled into my arms.

She's so cute.

"I'm sorry to interrupt, Wizard King." Marx appeared on a screen.

"Mushroom head." Yami stated once he saw him.

"Who're you calling 'Mushroom head'?" Marx huffed, "No, now's not the time for that!"

"What's the matter, Marx?"

"Kiten is under attack by the Diamond Kingdom."

Finral opened a portal to Kiten and we all stepped through.

I can't believe Asta wanted to go even though his arms are both broken.

He's unbelievable.

After I agreed to go with him, Charmy agreed too so we had no choice but to go.

When we stepped out of the portal I saw Yuno fighting with someone.

"He defeated him with a single blow!" Asta stared in shock.

Yuno jumped down and landed in front us of.

"Hi Asta, Y/n." He smiled, "What are you doing here? You got stronger again, didn't you? I'm not losing to you, Asta."

"Look who's talking. You got crazy strong, too, you jerk!" Asta responded, "I'm not gonna lose either, Yuno."

Yuno ruffled my hair, "Hi Y/n."

I smiled, "You're so strong now."

"You too."

"Yuno! Smile at me too!" The spirit yelled.

Her voice was annoying.

Yuno completely ignored her.

"Oi! Don't look at that ugly girl, look at me!"

"Don't talk to Y/n like that." Charmy yelled angrily, charging towards Bell.

"Oh yeah? What are you going to do about it?" Bell yelled.

"I'll cook you up and feed you to the beasts!" Charmy pulled out a net and started to try and catch her.

I placed my hand on Charmy's head, stopping her from running off.

"I'm okay." I smiled.

"Are you sure?"

I nodded.

The short girl stared at me with a blush on her cheeks, "If you say so."

She grabbed my hand and walked back over to Asta.

"Bell, that's enough." Yuno gave her an annoyed look.

Bell huffed but stayed quiet.

"What's this? Well, well... if it isn't my big brother." A voice called out.

I looked up and saw the Vice Captain of the Golden Dawn staring down at us from his spot on the roof.

Finral tensed up when he saw him, "Langris..."

"What's the black sheep of our family, who can barely even fight, even doing on the battlefield?" Langris mocked.

"Finral, who's that rude little twerp?!" Asta asked in an annoyed tone.

"He's my little brother." Finral stated, "That's the Vice Captain of the Golden Dawn, Langris Vaude."

"What?"

"Are you still acting as the Black Bulls' pack mule, Finral?"

The smug look on Langris' face was pissing me off.

"It looks like I'll have to be the next head of the Vaude family, since you're such a loser." Langris continued.

"Get over yourself! Finral's awesome!" Asta had finally had enough, "At the Underwater Temple, it was only because I had Finral's help that we were able to defeat the enemy!"

"Wow! You mean you were actually useful for once in your life?"

Asta ignored him, "More importantly, how can you talk to your big brother like that, you punk?!"

"How dare you address the Vice Captain of the Golden Dawn like that." Langris replied.

"It's okay, Asta." Finral forced a smile, "He's only telling the truth."

"It shouldn't have to be okay." I told Finral, "Your brother is wrong. Everyone in the Black Bulls believes in you."

Finral stared at me in shock before showing a real smile, "You're right. Thanks."

This huge jelly like creature appeared.

There were people trapped in it.

"On the honour of the Eight Shining Generals, I'm taking your head back home with me!" The mage controlling the monster growled.

"You're still alive? Not only that but my spatial magic is going to hit those civilians." Langris sighed, "Oh, well. They'll just have to be noble sacrifices for the sake of our country."

"Hold it!" Asta yelled, "How can you even think about abandoning our citizens?! We're magic knights."

Langris smirked, "And if this goes on, we'll just end up with even more victims!"

"Shut up! I'm not gonna abandon anyone! Finral!"

Asta grabbed his sword and held it in his mouth, his hands were broken and he couldn't move them.

Can he really use his sword like that?

Finral used his portals so Asta would dodge anything headed his way.

Somehow, Asta slashed through the monster, saving all the citizens and then he knocked out the enemy mage.

Asta landed back on the ground and dropped his sword.

He was out of breath.

"Your fighting style's as insane as ever, Asta." Yuno commented with a smile.

"Langris. You're right. I can't beat you. But.." Finral smiled, "The Black Bulls will beat the Golden Dawn!"

~*~

We were having a barbecue to celebrate but Asta didn't seem happy at all.

He was smiling but I could tell it was fake.

Did something happen? He saw a healer today right.

So that means...

"Man, I'm exhausted. I'm gonna call it a night!" Asta smiled and then ran off.

I'm pretty sure everyone dismissed his weird behaviour.

But I couldn't.

I was about to go after him when Finral stood up.

"Guys, I have something to tell you." Finral spoke up.

We all turned our attention to him.

"I overheard something when Asta was getting healed. The doctor said that Asta's arms will never go back to normal."

So that's it...

But his dream.

There has to be a way.

I clenched my fist.

This time, it's our turn to save Asta.

That night, I couldn't sleep.

~*~

I woke up to someone shaking me.

"Charmy?" I asked, "What are you doing?"

She had a determined expression, "Come on. We've got to help Asta."

I wasn't sure going into the woods was going to help anything.. but I agreed to go with Charmy.

If everyone goes somewhere different, we're bound to find something, right?

I threw on my clothes and followed Charmy.

She got Finral to teleport us there.

"So what now?" I asked once we had arrived.

"Not sure. Let's go.. that way." Charmy pointed in a random direction.

"Sure." I grabbed her hand and walked next to her.

I glanced at Charmy from the corner of my eye.

She was really pretty.

Charmy hummed to herself.

"Look food!" She grinned and tried to run towards some mushrooms.

I tugged her arm and stopped her.

"Those mushrooms might be poisonous."

"But.." she tried to protest.

"No." I scooped her up into my arms to stop her from running off.

Charmy struggled for a few seconds before giving up.

She rested her head on my shoulder and laid there quietly.

She did say she was hungry and I kind of feel bad.

Maybe there's a lake somewhere.

We can catch some fish.

I walked for a while and followed the sound of running water.

Charmy was being lulled to sleep by the sounds of the forest and my footsteps.

I finally found a lake and there were lots of fish swimming in it.

Charmy probably knows which fish tastes the best and stuff.

I gently shook her awake.

She grumbled and pushed my hand away, snuggling into my chest.

"Charmy, wake up." I sighed, "There's yummy food."

She instantly shot up at that, almost banging her head against mine.

"Food?! Where?"

"There's no food but you can catch some fish." I told her.

"Fish!" She started dribbling as she stared at the fish swimming around.

I grabbed a stick and some string and managed to make a decent looking fishing rod out of it.

"There." I sat down on the side of the lake.

Charmy jumped into my lap and grabbed the fishing rod, dangling it into the water.

I guess she knows best when it comes to fishing and food.

We sat there for a while.

I knew fishing took patience.

Charmy was super good at it too.

After a few hours, there was a big bucket of fish.

She summoned her sheep and ordered them to start cooking.

I watched as they cooked.

"Charmy, do you feel better now?" I asked.

She nodded, "Yes, but after this I want to try the mushrooms."

Oh no.

I grabbed one of the fish and handed it to her to try and distract her.

For all we know the mushrooms might be poisonous.

We shouldn't risk that.

I managed to actually eat some of the fish even though Charmy ate most of it.

"Now to eat the mushrooms!" She jumped up.

"Not so fast." I grabbed her and stopped her from running off.

She struggled again even though she wasn't strong enough to get out of my strong grip.

She eventually settled down again.

It was nighttime now.

I laid down near the fire and drifted off to sleep with Charmy in my arms.

~*~

When I woke up, Charmy was gone.

Oh no.

The fire had already gone out and it was morning.

Where could she be?

I searched all over for her until I finally found her.

She was covered in mushrooms.

I swear one was even sprouting out of her head.

She ate the mushrooms, didn't she?

I picked the unconscious girl up and travelled back to where Finral dropped us off.

It's been a few days so we should probably get back.

~*~

I carried the unconscious Charmy as I entered the hideout.

Asta was there and he appeared to be fine.

His arms weren't injured at all.

"Are your arms better now?" I asked him.

He nodded and told me about how he went to see the Queen of the Witches.

"Really? That sounds tough." I nodded along and added my input every now and then while he told me what happened.

I placed Charmy down on the sofa and let her sleep.

"And then we came back here." Asta finished.

"Sounds crazy." I laughed, "Though I'm glad your arms are better."

Asta nodded, "You don't have to worry anymore."

Everyone else eventually came back and when they realised Asta was okay, they went back to what they usually do.

I was exhausted after looking after Charmy.

I sat down next to Gauche on the sofa and rested my head on his shoulder.

He didn't say anything and just wrapped his arm around my waist.

His other hand ran through my hair.

I closed my eyes and drifted off into a peaceful sleep.

This time I wasn't worried about anything.

Asta was okay.

Everything was okay.
