When Lea opens her front door she's met with Matt holding two pieces of paper. Quirking up her eyebrow, she moves to the side so he can cross the threshold of her house. Leanna could tell that he was bursting with excitement from whatever he had planned for them.

"I just want to say that you look gorgeous," he moves to give her a chaste kiss on the lips, "and I need you to pick one of these pieces of paper."

"What exactly is this for?" she asks, picking the slip of paper from his right hand. She flips it over to see 'DRIVE IN MOVIE THEATRE' on the back of it.

"It's like a choose your own adventure game, but with our date," He crumples the paper in his left hand and throws it in a barrel nearby. Matt quickly offers Lea his hand, which she gladly takes, and guides her to the car. Matt had been driving for five minutes when Lea began to play with his fingers.

Lea glances out the window to see the large projector screen, "What movie are we watching?"

Putting the car in park, he grabs his wallet from his back pocket and opens his door. Looking over his shoulder he replies, "Your favourite."

Lea's eyes brighten upon hearing Matt's sentence. There's a small grin on his face when she whips her head in the direction of the screen and sees the opening credits of 10 Things I Hate About You. Matt watches her closely as her lips part in surprise. It hadn't been too hard to get them to play it. It only took him requesting from 10 different devices, but other than that it was pretty simple.

"Where are you going?" Lea asks, now noticing that his door is open.

"Gonna get us snacks."

Before he can fully leave, Lea reaches for his hand. She squeezes it softly, causing Matt to raise his eyebrows.

"I love you," Leanna professes, gazing into his eyes.

Matt can feel his heart race because of the sincerity of her words. He squeezes her hand back. "I love you too."

There's a moment of silence before Lea reluctantly lets him go. She leans her head against her seat while biting her lip in a poor attempt to hide her smile. Her cheeks hurt from smiling so much and she can feel the giddiness bubbling over her. The smile remains on her face when Matt arrives. As soon as he sits back in his seat, Lea moves over to the console to kiss him. When their lips touch Lea can feel her heart pounding. The two kiss all the time, whether that be to say hello, goodbye, or just to do it. But no matter how often they kiss, it always feels like the first time. It's the same butterflies and ditziness Lea felt when she first kissed Matt. There's a gentle slide of their lips and Lea can taste the sweetness of her favourite candy on his lips.

Pulling away she licks her lips to affirm her belief and tilts her head to the side, "They have Strawberry Mentos?"

Matt, who is still slightly dazed by the fervency of their kiss, nods. He lifts the opened package of Mentos that he put in his pocket and puts it in the cup holder. Before she can say anything else, he cups her jaw to bring his lips back to his. Sometimes Matt wishes he had a larger lung capacity so he could kiss her for longer. When he does pull away to breathe, he rests his forehead against hers.

"Hi," she whispers, her eyes moving from his lips to his eyes.

He chuckles while still trying to catch his breath, "Hi."

Leanna is momentarily distracted by the appearance of Heath Ledger on the screen. She spares Matt a half smile before settling back into her seat. In all honesty, Matt couldn't care less about the movie being projected on the screen. He's seen it a handful of times with Leanna and during those times he did what he's doing now— watching her. There are moments when she's laughing that make Matt's heart flutter. For example, when her nose scrunches when she hears the principal recite crude words from her book. And when the end credits roll and she finally looks back at him, he snaps back into focus.

"So, what's next?" She questions, popping a mento into her mouth.

Matt reveals the other two slips of paper from his back pocket. Lea rests her chin in her palm as she contemplates which one to choose. She gingerly plucks the paper from his left hand to examine.

'MC DONALDS AND CINNABON!'

Lea unconsciously reaches for Matt's spare hand, "Can we share a 10-piece?"

"As long as you don't hog the sweet and sour sauce."

She pulls her hand out of his and guffaws, "I do not hog the sweet and sour sauce."

Matt takes his now free hand to shift gears and reverse out of the movie theatre lot. His mouth quirks up into a smile. "Then why is no sauce left when we share nuggets?"

She opens her mouth to respond but has no rebuttal. In her defence, the McDonald's sauce containers are not that big. He's amused by her lack of response but chooses to say nothing as he drives to the fast-food restaurant. Leanna can sense the shift in Matt's mood when entering the drive-through line. It worsens when Matt's eyes flicker to the rearview mirror to spot another car pulling in behind them.

The blonde notes how his leg starts to bounce up and down and how he begins to bite his nails. She doesn't want to comment on it, because she knows he finds his anxiety regarding drive-throughs embarrassing.

She purses her lips before settling on a topic that could distract him for long enough. Lea looks over at her boyfriend once more before speaking. "Did I ever tell you about this heinous bitch in my group project for Sociology?"

His leg stops shaking.

"Heinous bitch from Sociology?" Matt repeats unsurely. His eyes squint as he tries to recant anything Leanna has told him about her college life. Filtering through his mind, Matt remembers the guy in her Psych class that hit on her and the girl in her Stats that Leanna befriended when she asked her for a pad. He frowns when he falls short of any memories of Lea complaining about a group member.

"Baby, it doesn't matter 'cause I'm gonna tell you about her now."

Leanna begins her spiel about her classmate, Amelia, and her work— or lack thereof. Matt watches as she talks animatedly. He's entranced with the passion she's speaking and robotically pays for their food, still paying attention to her.

"It was the day before the project was due and she hadn't done anything. I'm not even joking, her part of the presentation was blank! She did it five minutes before the lecture started."

Matt snorts while grabbing the McDonald's from the worker, "She sounds terrible."

"She is."

Taking the bag from him she reaches in to grab a fry to give him. Matt mutters a thank you before opening his mouth to take the fry. He continues to listen to Lea berate her classmate while pulling into the parking lot.

"Thank you by the way," he says while watching Leanna take out the pack of nuggets and fries.

Lea sets the bag aside and centers the pack of nuggets in between them. She's careful as she pulls out the extra sauce containers (Matt's request). Leanna smiles to herself when she's satisfied with the setup.

"What are you thanking me for?" She wonders.

Taking a chicken nugget he replies smoothly, "For the drive-through— distracting me."

"You don't have to thank me for that."

Matt gives her a half-smile, "Thank you anyways."

"Ok, so there's still one more part of the date," Matt explains while holding Leanna's hand.

The two had just eaten their cinnamon buns and were headed back to the car. Leanna moves closer to Matt due to the chilly weather. He reveals the last two papers she has to choose between. Leana quickly takes the one out of his right hand.

'CUDDLE AT YOURS'

"This is cute," she responds, placing her hand back into his, "thank you for today. You're the best."

He echoes the sentence she told him earlier while opening the car door for her, "You don't have to thank me for that."

The drive back to her house is filled with senseless chatter until he parks in her driveway. As she takes the steps up to her front door she feels Matt hug her from behind. Leanna is trying— and failing— to focus on turning the key when he presses a kiss to her hairline and on her bare shoulder. The blonde successfully gets the door open and tugs on Matt's hand to get him inside. The couple is engulfed by darkness until Matt turns on the light.

Leanna is letting her eyes adjust to the brightness when there's a chorus of 'surprise!' being screamed at her. She stumbles into Matt's back at the sheer amount of people that have filled her previously empty living room. There's confetti still falling down when she gets a good look at the banner that is being held up by Chris and Rory.

'CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR BMA NOMINATIONS!'

Leanna is still speechless when Nick comes over to hug her. He hugs her softly while congratulating her.

Lea turns to Matt and points a finger at him, "You were a distraction?!"

"To be fair, he was more than the distraction— he planned the whole thing." Nick defends, sidestepping so that Lilith can properly record her cousin's reaction.

"You planned this?" Leanna asks softly.

Matt shrugs, his ears burning red when Leanna's eyes soften at Nick's confession. "Wanted to celebrate my girl."

"Ok enough of that romantic shit," Chris huffs, abandoning the banner to greet Lea. "You're totally winning your categories."

Leanna laughs, "I don't want to jinx anything."

The group of friends move into her kitchen to continue their conversation. Rory is opening up the boxes of pizza to distribute to the other partygoers. The brunette girl is handing Lea a plate when she finally speaks up. "No, Chris is right you're definitely gonna win. They asked you to perform. You don't get asked to perform and then lose. That would be cruel."

Leanna stays quiet while her friends slowly disperse from the kitchen into the living room. The only person left in the kitchen with her is Matt.

He moves closer to her while she's distracted by her pizza. Matt smoothly tucks her stray hair behind her ear. His hand falls to her waist. "You ok?"

"Yeah, just overwhelmed," Lea explains leaning into his touch, "sometimes I can't believe my music is doing well."

Matt pulls her in by her waist, "Well, you better believe it. You're so talented, you deserve it."

Leanna moves to hug Matt while he rests his chin on her head. She can hear the soft thud of his heartbeat as he squeezes her. He moves back slightly to get a better look at her. Moving her hair out of her face, he leans down to kiss her now that they're alone. When their lips touch all Leanna can think about is how lucky she is to have a boyfriend as amazing as Matt.
