Angry Birds Ate Chocolate

I can't believe my eyes. She was really right there. The crowd was silent yet the mood is awkward. Words can't get out my mouth so Chiron decided to talk first.

"I saw you fell from that hole five days ago." He said. "And I made a quest for three demigods to rescue you but..."

I knew that he was going to say, where the hell are they but I didn't know that we've been underground for five days.

"Oh, you mean them?" Kathleen said while pointing at the back which showed us Andrea, Ces and Marty.

All tide up and well. I was wondering how these things happened. It really makes my head hurt. The three demigods were smirking at me. Well, atleast I got here first than they did.

"What? When? How?" I asked. I was voiceless and shocked and confused.

"Apparently, we found Kathleen and completed our lofty quest." Andrea said raising her eyebrow. "And what about you?"

"I was..." I think about what to say. Hestia forbids me to tell anybody that she helped me. "I asked for help." I finally answered.

"What?! There's nobody but monsters are in there!" Ces said. "Oh, I mean under."

"Well, uhhh..." My palms began to sweat. "I made friends with zombies?"

"The truth, Pat." Marty said seriously while looking straight into my eyes.

"Okay, fine!" I shouted. "I found a hole, an exit, while I was searching for you."

"How? You don't even have night vision." Ces asked.

"Enough already!" Chiron shouted. "Kathleen. Big House. Now."

As they left, the other campers followed leaving me with these three demigods. They scanned the area with their eyes making sure no one else is here, after they were done, they looked at me.

"There's something you should know." Andrea began to say. "We didn't exactly found Kathleen, we were captured and we'd been put in the same prison."

"It was a dark room but the light of the moon from the window beside our prison was a big help." Marty said.

"But you know what's weird?" Ces whispered. "After she was tortured, they put her back and she started acting a little bit..."

"Different." Marty added. "It seems like they've injected something in her. The sound of syringe clattering on a tray was terrifying."

"Did you see the guards?" I asked.

"Yes, they were actually demigods." Andrea answered. "Probably hypnotized or black mailed, I guess."

"Then how the hell did you escaped?" I asked.

"We have Ces here, who cannot be contained, and unlocked the lock" Marty explained. "And then we fought our way out."

While they were busy explaining to me about what happened. I felt a sudden urge to kill. I realized that I still have Kathleen's sword on my right arm.  I held it firmly and glared at Marty, since he was standing in front of me.

Then the next thing happened was a blur. My vision disappeared and I can't move my body. I fought but it's no use. I really can't control my body but I can still feel it. I felt hands gripping on my arm, trying to hold me back. I felt someone kicked me on my stomach and a smack on my head made me collapsed.

I woke up with eyes looking at me. I flinched and scanned my body with my hands. No, they didn't steal anything from me nor took my clothes off. My stomach and head still hurt but with the help of ambrosia that Andrea gave, kinda reduced it.

We were at the infirmary and the Apollo kids were scattered here, aiding the injured.

"Ugh, what happened?" I asked while rubbing my head to ease the pain.

"You nearly killed him." Ces said.

"What? Killed who?" I asked them. "I wouldn't kill anybody without a reason."

"Marty." Ces answered. "You stabbed him on his leg with a sword. Kathleen's sword."

"Yeah, it was like Po fighting Tigress." Andrea said. "But it wasn't awesome."

"Hey!" I shouted. "I am not that fat!"

Hell yes I am. People think of me like I'm a walking stick not a walking marshmallow.

"No, you moron!" She explained. "You were Tigress and Marty was Po."

"I am not a girl!" I shouted again.

"Whatever." Andrea answered. "There was this nymph earlier that wants to see you, so badly."

"Mia?" I asked. "Where is she now?"

"Let me call her." Ces said as he went out the infirmary while skipping happily.

Dizziness washed over me as I stood up. We went over to see Marty and I guess he's okay but his left leg was swollen and wrapped in bandages. I see his friends: Jomari, with his spear on his hand glared at me, Christian has his arms crossed and glared at me too and there was Ryle, an Apollo kid, that's seriously focused on aiding Marty.

I gave my apologies and proceeded outside. Mia was there talking with Ces. When she saw me, she ran and hugged me tightly, she was embarrassed when she let go, though. But I didn't mind at all.

I decided to walk Mia to her tree and go to my Cabin. That was I planned to do before a flock of Stymphalian Birds circled the skies of Camp Half-blood ready for an attack. Before I knew what was happening, Archers readied their weapons and positions as they sent arrows flying towards those birds.

Now, these birds are not just ordinary birds, not like Tweety bird or Big bird nor the Angry Birds, no, just no—those were much weirder kinds of bird, though. These were known by their beaks of steel and hunger for human flesh. I pulled out my own bow but, unluckily, I don't have any arrows.

Campers ran inside their cabins creating a havoc on their way, probably to get their weapons or to hide their ass from these man-eating birds. Ryle came out of the infirmary just in time with his long bow and sharp arrows ready.

"Who the hell summoned them?" Ryle asked. "They couldn't possibly enter the camp's barrier."

"I know." I replied. "But I don't know who did and why."

Apollo kids were shooting and killing those birds one at a time. I thought we were winning but it seems like the number of birds ain't decreasing. Ryle gave me some of his arrows and we started shooting, that was the time when the Stymphalian birds charged at us.

We took cover with our hands on our heads but I felt a cut made by a sharp beak of a bird slashed on my arm. Anger washed over me and I sent an arrow flying towards it, perfectly aimed and it was dead—or I thought it was.

I was now hopeless, we were all mostly sweating and exhausted. Our arrows were all depleted and still the birds circled the camp and attacking us one by one. So far, nobody was killed but not until Dames showed up.

He had no doubts when he positioned at the center, just right in front of the bonfire. He stood with might and confidence the pose was good but he had a rattle on his hand. He gripped it tightly and stared at the birds. Then a memory popped in my head.

Based on my research, Hercules or Heracles, whatever you want to call him, used a rattle to keep those birds away because it's one of his labors to kill the Stymphalian Birds, which was a smart idea by Dames, by the way.

"GET INSIDE YOUR CABINS AND CLOSE ALL THE DOORS." He shouted. "I'll take care of these Angry Birds."

We rushed inside the infirmary as the others locked the windows and doors. I pulled Mia in with my hand on hers as Ryle, Ces and other campers followed. There was a moment of silence then came the rattling sound of Dames's rattle.

"I hope Chocolate's okay." Ces said. "Nah, I doubt birds even like chocolate."

He calls Dames as Chocolate because of his dark complexion. It was okay for Dames, I guess, as Ces is one of his closest friends. A shout of rage that was loud and frightening spread the Camp, and it was Dames's. We heard the pounding of Dames's desired weapon, which is a ten-pound hammer, smashing and crushing every bird.

It was then followed by a scream—a wail of pain to be exact. I couldn't take it, so I opened the window a little, just enough for me to see what the hell was happening. After that, I was traumatized.

Dames's skin was now ripped and his clothes were torn. The others battled for the view and later regrets and some, cried. His flesh can be found hanging on the birds' beaks flying around him.

We couldn't handle what he is suffering so we opened the door. I noticed other campers did the same as well but it was too late. Dames was lying on the ground, his hammer on his side and his rattle missing. The birds flew away like they were satisfied by their dark-skinned-skinny meal.

We went over to him and I can see the wounds all over his body: some bleeding and some raw flesh was visible. A tear fell down on his cheek as we surrounded him. He looked at his brother, Edric, who went over to him. Sorrow and grief appeared on Edric's face.

"Remember, to save the ones you love." Dames muttered to his brother who was now crying.

With his last dying breath, Dames closed his eyes and smiled.

Then we all knew, Dames is dead.

Chocolate is dead.
