Black card.
"Man she's wonderful.." He sighed making me smile. I had been sat listening to him tell me stories of this Maria. If I was honest? I was jealous of her already, she had her happy ever after. I guess our time in the elevator had only left us to bond.
"Did you two ever...?" I questioned.
"No, no. We were never like that. Much to her fathers disappointment. No he held out of us to fall in love but it was a frien- it is a friendship for life." He smiled.
"Sounds cute." I responded looking at the keypad to the elevator. "You do suppose that they know we are here?"
Aaron nodded "Yeah.. It won't be l-"
"Hello? We are currently working on getting you both out. However you are between two floors. Is everyone okay?" The intercom spoke.
"Yay!" I cheered getting up off the floor with Aaron.
"Yeah we are okay. Do you know how long?" He asked.
"Desperate to get away from me.. And here I was hoping for a marriage proposal." I teased making him chuckle.
"We are actively working now, but I can't give you any further information at this time. It may take minutes to a couple of hours. Sit tight,"
"Brilliant." I huffed sitting down on the floor again.
Aaron sat beside me and smiled "Desperate to get away from me?" He asked.
"Am I that readable?" I joked picking up an orange to eat. "Help yourself to fruit. At least I brought a food basket."
He laughed picking up an apple "Yeah, I bought my charisma and charm."
"If they could pull the doors open slightly, we could squeeze you through." Aaron noted looking at the doors.
"Hell.. No. I've seen that film, where they get stuck in a lift and push someone out."
"Let me guess? The lift fell?"
"Hell yeah it fell! Cut them in half! I'd rather go in full then be cut in half. No, you can go." I nodded.
"Heck no, I'm staying until I walk out." He answered firmly biting his Apple.
"Then we shall stay put until we are rescued. Like damsels." I giggled.
"As long as I haven't got to be Rapunzel... Rapunzel, Rapunzel, throw down your hair!" He called.
"Sorry dude I'm bald!" He shouted back making me laugh.
"By the time we get out, you could have a Dumbledore beard." I cackled.
He gasped excitedly "That would be awesome."
I looked at his Star Wars top and smiled "You should have used the force."
"Wouldn't that be amazing? If you could have one superpower what would it be?" He asked.
"Guess."
He grinned "I know it.."
"After three then.. 1, 2, 3-!"
"Teleporting!" We both shouted before giving each other a high 5. As Aaron crunched, I peeled and eventually ate my orange.
"Hey Luna?" Aaron spoke making me look up with orange hanging from my mouth.
"Hmm?"
"Wanna watch Star Wars?" He asked picking up his phone.
I smiled and scooted beside him "Sounds like a plan, young Jedi."
-----------
We only got half way through Star Wars when Aaron's phone died.
"Harsh!" I exclaimed.
"Damn it. Sorry.." He huffed.
"Shh." I hushed making him pause, I could hear people talking. Aaron smiled as we both got to our feet ready to be released when the elevator dropped slightly and the light went out.
Out of fear, I screamed and grabbed Aaron hoping to go feeling something, even if it was the warmth of a damn stranger! My heart hammered in my chest and the tears began to come back in my eyes.
They weren't going to get us out... We were gonna die in this shitty tin!
"HELLO?!" A voice called.
"HELLO! WHAT IS HAPPENING?!" Aaron yelled back.
"WE ARE WORKING TO GET YOU BOTH OUT! ARE YOU BOTH OKAY?!"
"Y-" Aaron paused looking at me clinging onto him for all I had before answering. "PANICKING BUT OKAY!"
"WE WILL HAVE YOU OUT SHORTLY!"
"We are gonna die!" I cried squeezing his arm tightly.
"We are not going to die.. They are getting to us slowly. Look at me." He ordered.
I let out a whimper before looking at him, his eyes were warm and friendly "I'm not leaving this elevator without you. Okay?"
I nodded and slowly eased up on my grip, I gave his arm a rub from where my nails had dug in "Sorry."
"It's okay." He smiled putting his arm around me.
I welcomed it and stayed by his side in case it moved again.
My fears were confirmed when the fire department decided that the best course of action was to move us down to the lower floor. Inch by inch.
Every time the elevator moved I felt my heart fall in my stomach, I didn't know which movement would be the last.
"It's okay. I'm here." Aaron whispered rubbing my back as I wiped tears.
"I'm such a baby." I mumbled.
"You're scared. You are allowed to cry."
"You aren't." I pointed out.
"Scared? I am but my line of work? Being scared is a natural feeling." He replied.
It took a while but eventually the movements stopped and the voices seemed to be behind the doors. We followed the instructions that the fire department gave and eventually the doors were being pulled apart.
I had held Aaron's hand for a little courage and strength that he had "Thank you." I whispered wiping my face with the back of my hand.
"No problem." He smiled genuinely.
"You are such a nice man."
"Are you going to cry again?" He asked, I nodded and got weepy on him. He chuckled giving me a hug. "Stop being silly."
"I'm never taking an elevator again. Fuck this car park."
He laughed and eventually we parted to find the door being pulled back for us.
"Slowly. One at a time.." The fire fighter spoke. I looked at Aaron worried, but he pushed me forward and towards the door. I didn't have time to think as a firefighter took my arm and pulled me out and away from the lift.
I turned looking at Aaron alarmed when he bent down picking up my camera before walking out coolly.
The doors snapped shut behind him as he smiled "Hey."
"Could you had made that anymore cooler?" I asked taking my camera from his outstretched hand.
He grinned "Well you know.. I'm a bad ass."
"Thank you.. For not getting angry or annoyed with me about the crying and panicking."
"It's completely natural. But...A beautiful woman like you shouldn't cry."
I blushed and looked down at my feet to hide my rosy cheeks.
"I uh--" he paused before scratching his head "I don't normally do this. I get all antsy and nervous but uh. You wanna grab a coffee some time?"
Stunned I blinked almost gawping at him "Really?"
"I did see any one else.." He whispered making me giggle.
"I'd really like that." I smiled tucking my hair behind my ear.
"Good. Good. Here.." He smiled going in his wallet and pulling out a card.
"You have a business card?" I asked checking out the small black card in my hand.
"I do. Send me a text, slide into my messages and we can hang out sometime."
"I will."
His hands took the camera strap and hooked it over my neck before bopping my nose with his finger.
"Get home safe, and stay beautiful, Luna." He winked making me smile.
"You too.. Stay badass, Mr Goodwin." I called as we parted ways.
I headed back to my car slowly tapping his card against my lips. He read like an open book, but I knew better. I knew from working in retail and taking photos that there was more than meets the eye with Aaron.
And that's what had me interest.
