Baby hands and a snappy man

Sleep slowly evaporated in my mind as my eyes cracked open slowly, I lazily lifted my hand to wipe the sleep dust from my eyes as I yawned.

Pulling my hand away I almost jumped seeing a close up of Yoda staring at me. He seemed to grow in towards me before shrinking back slowly. Only to grow and shrink again.

How much did I drink?

Looking up, I found myself burrowed into Aaron's chest. It took me a few seconds to work out where he began and I finished as his arms were wrapped around me. Lifting the sheet I saw his shorts, and legs tangled with mine, placing it back down I thought back to last night.

I smirked realising the floor sleeping plan failed. Enjoying his warmth, the frayed ends of my thoughts pulled.

Why was he pushing me away? What have I done? What did he mean when he said to Zak he was doing what he was doing? Or did do?

Feeling hurt from the arguments yesterday and the way he pushed past me when leaving the meeting, I got up out the bed leaving him asleep.

Grabbing some clothes, I took a shower and dressed before leaving the bathroom quietly. Once ready for work, I picked up my phone and headed down into reception waiting for someone to appear for breakfast.

I didn't understand why he was so cold to me. I couldn't work out what I had done?

My mind went to Mark, the feel of his fingers digging into my arms painfully, the way he shook me in a hope the answer he wanted would fall from my
mouth. The crazed look in his eyes as he threatened me.

"Luna." Bacon spoke placing his hand on my shoulder making me jump. "Easy sweetie."

Looking at him I pulled a smile quickly "How can you smile when you've got tears running down your face?" He asked wiping one away.

Confused I wiped my face with my hand and sniffled quickly. "W-what's up? You're awake early."

"Like wise, I thought you'd be sleeping in."

I shook my head, "No rest for the wicked."

My eyes shifted to the door as Maria came in panting. "Morning." She sang coming over glistening with sweat. "Sleep well?"

I nodded "Good thank you. I didn't know what to do, so I'll be hanging around here until we are ready to do whatever." I smiled.

"Okay babe. I just gotta go shower and pull my boys out of bed. Zak pulled Theo in with us last night, there's only so many times I want my hair pulled. Little hands." She beamed wiggling her fingers.

"We'll hang out here then." Bacon smiled over to me.

"Sweet. Where's Aaron?" She frowned looking around.

"Bed."

"Long night, he pulled his head from his ass yet?" She asked.

"He slept on the floor last night to avoid me. He must have got into the bed by dawn. Listen, I'm grateful of the opportunity but if it's going to cause tension..."

"Nonsense. He needs to change his tampon and move on." She waved off.

I sighed looking at my hands "I'll head back once the photos are done. I don't want tension, not when you got Theo here, babies sense that."

Her face gave me a sympathetic look. "Do what's best for you sweetie. I'll go get them all up."

As Maria left, I looked at Bacon "Don't."

"He's an ass. I would not give up my dream of doing this permanently because he's got his boxers in a wad."

"I know... I just have no idea what I'm going to do." I trailed off weighing up the prospects of dealing with Aaron on a weekly basis or Mark on a daily basis.

Would you believe that I think Mark's behaviour is easier to deal with? At least I knew what he wanted. Aaron? I had no freakin' idea.

I was last to step out the RV to a roadside diner just outside of Arizona. I had waited in order to avoid Aaron's glare that was burning my skin.

Taking a breath of air, I looked around and smiled at the crew as they flooded in the doors. Closing the door and lifting the handle to lock it, I spun and gasped seeing Aaron right behind me.

"What the hell are you playing at?"

"S-sorry?" I frowned looking over his shoulder. Bacon was watching us carefully as Aaron blocked my way when I tried to move past him.

"I said what the hell are you playing at?"

"I don't know what you're talking about, please excuse me." I shifted past him only to be pulled back in front of him.

"Where were you this morning?" He asked.

I snatched my arm from his hand as Marks bruises stung. Rubbing my arm gently he frowned reaching for me again when I stepped away.

"Keep your hands to yourself. I'll be wherever I want to be. You don't care. Remember?"

"Luna plea-"

"Just leave me alone Aaron. You've made yourself perfectly clear."

I moved past him and headed straight to Bacon who leaned into the door walking in with me.

"Are you okay?" He whispered.

"Peachy."

We got into a large booth as Theo sat in a high chair, I sat myself between Billy and Bacon who seemed to keep the conversation going around the table, which was good. As I wasn't really in the mood for talking.

Aaron was still skulking outside waiting for our food to arrive, he had gone as far as texting Maria his order so that he wouldn't have to sit at the table longer than necessary.

"He hasn't had a coffee this morning, so he's probably as miserable as shit." Billy spoke making me look at Aaron through the window. Meeting his eyes I looked away again wondering if this was really worth it.

I'd have other opportunities, right?

I kept my head down until someone at the table mentioned Ashley, my head lifted to look at Jay as he answered that she was okay. I felt inclined to say anything, the last thing I wanted to do was rub someone else the wrong way.

"Jay.." I spoke quietly. Surprisingly he heard over the table quiet easily.

"If Ash ever comes back... Her job will be waiting."

He smiled slightly "It's kind of you to say that, but your job is safe. Ash won't be coming back."

"But if she wanted to-"

"She won't. A lot happened." He replied making me nod. "Give Aaron time, its difficult for him to open up."

I looked out to see Aaron kicking at the dirt like an overgrown man child. But overgrown or not, I couldn't deny the safety I felt in his arms.

He surfaced into the diner slowly sitting at the edge of the booth looking at Theo with a smile as his face was covered with fruit juice he had been chomping on.

Picking up a napkin, he wiped his face gently before bopping his finger on the tip of Theo's nose making him babble at Aaron, grabbing his fingers to tickle him.

I smiled gently as Aaron tickled him under his chin and tummy causing the laughter that lightened the mood around the table and warmed my heart.

He was a good godparent.

"Ar ar ar!" Theo yelled slapping his hands down on the plastic tray sending his food flying.

"Aaron. Say Aaron."

"Ar ar ar ar!" He replied to him.

"Heck it's good enough for me. What's up little man?" He spoke picking up a piece of fruit and holding it up to him. Theo's small chubby fingers grabbed the mango and ate it quickly making me smile.

His blue and grey eyes looking over to Maria instantly as she beamed. "You're gorgeous." She informed him causing Theo to bat his lashes.

"Oh doesn't he know it." I giggled.

Aaron looks at me with a small smile. My heart held hope for a small white flag of surrender from him.

Unfortunately I didn't have to wait for long to realise that was a stupid freakin' idea.

We were preparing to leave the diner when I was struggling to get Theo out of his straps. It was hard when I had no clue how they worked and kept wincing from him pulling my hair that I could of sworn I threw over my back.

"For god sake. You're useless. Get out the way!" Aaron spat shoving my hands aside as I winched at Theo's hard tug.

"Theo no. Sorry Luna." Zak spoke grabbling my hair out of his hands.

I stepped back as one patch thumped from the pulling.

"I-its okay." I answered keeping my head low to avoid anyone seeing my tears.

"Hey you okay?" Zak spoke placing his hands on my shoulder.

"Fine." I smiled leaving the diner quickly.

Maria came out and found me standing beside the RV wiping a tear.

"I'm so sorry, he has a thing for hair, are you okay?" She asked.

"No. He's just so spiteful and horrible." I answered.

"Excuse me?" She asked.

I wiped my face and almost smacked myself "Aaron I mean, he is so cruel."

"Wait... Theo didn't cause this?" She asked.

"No? Why would- my hair? Oh it's only a tug."

She smiled slightly "It's not like there's a bald patch..." She trailed off looking at my hair pulling a face.

I laughed slightly "Doubt it will be noticeable with my mane of hair."

"Sorry about Theo though, he's obsessed with it, it's always nice to hear Zak almost screaming as he pulls his. Then tells me to stop being a baby when he pulls mine."

I smiled "You can't be mad at him for the hair pulling, he's a baby."

"But I can be mad at Aaron. I'm sorry that he's being...."

"Aaron?" I guessed. "Is this the real him or is this because of me? I'm at a loss Maria, by now I would have moved on but..-"

"But you really like him."

"Yes. More fool me." I grumbled.

She gave me a sympathetic smile before brushing my hair back "Just covering the bald patch." She whispered making me giggle.

"So my son?" Maria questioned.

"He's forgiven. Always."

Zak appeared from the side of the RV, holding Theo in his arms "Are you okay? I feel awful."

"Our boy isn't the problem. It's him." Maria answered narrowing her eyes at Aaron as he lit a cigarette.

"Mar-"

"PUT IT OUT!" She shouted over to him. Flipping her off he turned his back and disappeared out of view with the cigarette.

"I'm gonna put it out on his ass." She snarled stomping off.

"Mommy is crazy, yes she is, but we love her unconditionally." Zak spoke bouncing Theo.

I pushed on my head gently to relieve the thumping behind my skull. "I heard Aaron." Zak spoke making me look up from my battered converse. "You're not useless, he shouldn't have said that."

"Feel it right now." I sighed smiling at Theo reached for me.

"You young man need to treat the ladies better. Yeah, how you gonna find a girlfriend when you're all grabby grabby?" Zak spoke blowing a raspberry on his hand making Theo give him a gummy smile.

"That smile will always get him the ladies, I can tell you that now."

I looked across to see Maria snatching the cigarette from his fingers and scowling him.

"Zak? Your wife is pretty scary when she's mad." I said watching her eyes widen as she threw her hands in the air.

He grinned "Oh I know, and I love every bit of her."
