Chapter Eleven

"Let me see that," Emily said as George came out of the family room clutching his wrist.

"You don't have to," George said wincing as she took his arm.

"It's okay. It won't hurt me nearly as much," she said holding her hand over his bandage wrist of Tony's tee-shirt.

"Ow!" he winced as light burned into his hand. "Oh, wow, thanks," he said stretching his arm out. Emily nodded and unwrapped his bandage. "Wow, that's so cool," George said looking at his wrist to find only a faint sign of puncture marks where only minutes ago two wounds were bleeding profusely.

"Thank you," she said kissing his cheek.

"Why do I get the feeling that wasn't for calling you cool?"

"You know what it was for."

"He saved her life. It was the least I could do."

"It was very brave of you. Everyone knows how much you hate the sight of blood."

"Yeah, well, I didn't watch. That helped... I guess."

"I'm sure Trey is very grateful."

"Yeah, he said as much. You know, he's really not such a bad guy."

"No, he's not," Emily said with a smile.

"You think he'll ever tell us who's doing all this?"

"No," She said shaking her head.

"Why? Why not let us help?"

"He doesn't want anyone to get hurt."

"Sam got hurt already. She hasn't done a thing. Can't do a thing. She doesn't have any active power. She couldn't hurt a fly even if she tried."

"It's not about Sam. He's using her to get under Trey's skin."

"Oh God," George said paling.

"What?"

"Isabella. Where is she?"

"She's out at the movies with Ray," Emily said and then sent out a mental search to check on her. "She's okay. They're both okay."

"Tell her to get home. Now. Raven too. She went out with her friend Jasmine."

"Yeah, ok," Emily said putting her hand to her head.

"If he hurt Sam to get under Trey's skin..."

"I get you," Emily said waving at him to be quiet.

"You are such a great dancer," Raven said with a smile at the gorgeous guy who had asked her to dance an hour ago and they were still dancing together. Her friend Jasmine left the club shortly before with a smile and a wink at Raven.

"Nah, it's my partner," he said with a smile wrapping a hand around her back.

"So, are you going to tell me your name?"

"If you tell me yours."

"Raven."

"Nice to meet you Raven. I am Falco."

"Falco. What an unusual name. What does it mean?"

"In Italian it means Hawk."

"You're Italian?"

"Don't I look it?"

She looked over his five foot ten athletic build, his golden tan muscular arms. The wavy black hair, the black eyes, the gorgeous Roman cheekbones. "Sure...but..."

"What? You got something against Italians?" he asked with a half laugh.

"Other way around," she said trying not to blush. She always had a thing for them.

He smiled and pulled her close. "Good to know."

"Hawk, huh? So, we're a couple of birds. Weird, huh?"

"Fate, I'd say."

She smiled. "Maybe."

"So, am I limited to a dance or would you be willing to join me for dinner tomorrow night?"

"Dinner sounds good," she said with a smile.

"Great," he said with a smile and leaned to kiss her hand lightly.

"And you wonder why I have a thing for Italian men," she said lifting her hand in his with a smile.

"I'm hoping to change that."

"What?"

"The men part. Needs to be singular. As is one man. As in..." he said with a smile.

"Hmm...I'll consider that."

"I hope so."

"Raven, come home. Now," Emily's voice yelled in her mind and made her jump.

"Are you alright?" He asked.

"Um, yeah," she said touching her head lightly.

"Maybe you need to sit down. Some water. It is rather warm in here," he said taking her hand and led her through the crowd to the bar. He signaled the bartender and requested a bottle of water and handed it to her.

"Thanks," she said unscrewing it and taking a sip.

"Raven!" Emily's voice called to her.

"Damn it," she muttered.

"Excuse me?" Falco asked leaning in closer to her.

"Um, I better go."

"What? It's early yet."

"I know but.... My roommate wasn't feeling well earlier. I think I better go check on her."

"You don't look so great yourself. Would you like a lift?"

"No, I have my car. Thanks."

"We could come back for it once you found out your friend was okay."

"I'd like to. Really. But I better go alone."

"Alright. Can I get your number at least? I'll call you about tomorrow night. That is...if we're still on?"

"Yeah, of course we are."

He pulled out his cell phone and flipped it open. She told him the number and he dialed her in. "Could I walk you to your car at least?"

"I'll be fine. But thank you. I'll talk to you tomorrow," she said kissing his cheek lightly.

"Alright. Goodnight then."

Raven walked to her car cursing Emily and whatever emergency she thought she had. Emily had once called her home from a date because she had a "bad feeling" about the guy. Turned out the guy had gotten food poisoning but he didn't know it until the next day. They could have at least finished the nice romantic walk on the beach they were having.

She put the key in the car door and turned it only to feel a presence behind her. She turned to look. A large attractive man with dark eyes and dark hair pushed her roughly into the car holding her wrists with one hand.

"Let me go!" Raven grunted.

"Now, why would I want to do that?" he asked running a hand slowly down her face.

"I'll scream!"

"Go ahead. No one will hear you," he said running the hand down her neck. She screamed.

A dark figure laughed and walked towards them. "I love that sound," the new guy said with a smile.

"What do you want?"

The one holding her yanked her head to the side. Fangs dropped into place. Raven kicked him between the legs. He raised an eyebrow but kept moving in. He stopped moving towards her as he revealed two puncture wounds just below the collar of her shirt. "She bears the mark of our brothers," he said glancing back to the other.

"Oh, rats, and I was hoping this would be a newbie. I so love virgin blood."

Raven glared at the blonde and threw a fire ball at him with her mind. "Impressive. Witch," he said dodging it

She concentrated on her wrists causing the dark haired one to wince but he didn't let go. Instead he went in for a bite. His sharp fangs punctured her neck and drew blood. She screamed pushing out fire through her hands and aimed for the face.

Simultaneously, there was a male scream behind her and then the one holding her released her and fell to the ground grabbing his face. She saw something fly through the air and end in a thud in his chest.

"You oky?" Falco asked quickly pulling her to him.

She nodded clutching at the side of her neck. She pulled her hand away to find it covered in blood. She looked at him and then looked at the two figures lying on the floor that with the blink of an eye turned to dust. "What happened to them?"

"Stakes. Don't leave home without them," he said pulling one out of the inside of his jacket pocket and handed her one.

"Thanks. Buffy," she said taking it her hand shaking.

"Let me take you home."

"Who are you?"

"A friend."

"My friends usually don't go around killing vamps."

He pulled down the top of her shirt with an index finger. He put a handkerchief to her neck over the fresh wound and looked at the other marks below it. "Hmm...no they just are ones."

"That's none of your business," she said pushing his hand away and held the handkerchief to her neck.

"When I have to take two of them out it is my business."

"What are you?"

"Someone who believes in righting wrong."

"Okay, Superman," she said opening her car door.

"Where are you going?"

"Home."

He pushed the car door shut. "Not without me you're not."

"Where to?" he asked when they were in his black Ferrari. She told him the address crossing her arms across her chest."Witch Hill. Figures," he said starting the engine and pulling out.

"So, what's your story?"

"No story. I was minding my own business when I heard you screaming. I end up slaying two vampires."

"Normal people don't go around slaying vampires."

"Normal people don't go around making fireballs out of thin air either," he countered. She shrugged. "It's a nice gift. You're lucky. Practice much?"

"Kill vampires much?"

"Only the ones I don't like," he said turning with a smile.

"Why do I always have to fall for the complicated ones?" she muttered.

He smiled. "You fell for me?"

"Shut up," she said crossing her arms.

"If it helps, I fell for you too. That's not putting me any better off."

"Gee, thanks."

They were quiet until the reached the top of the hill. He stopped the car in front of the house. "Nice place. I've never seen it this ... up close."

"And you never will again," she said getting out of the car.

"Raven, wait!" he said getting out and caught her at the bottom of the stairs of the porch. "Don't blow me off just because I killed some vamps. They were trying to kill you! Don't you get that?!" he said taking her by the shoulders.

"I could have handled it."

He laughed. "I'm sure you could. But just in case," he said reaching into his pocket. He pulled out a handful of stakes and put them in her hand closing hers around them.

"No," she said putting them back in his.

"I'm not a fool, Raven. I know things go on up here. Take them."

"It's not necessary," she said pushing them back in his hands.

"You think they're the only ones out there? You think it won't happen again? Take them. Please. Toss them in a drawer or something but give me peace of mind that you at least have them."

She sighed. "Alright," she said slipping them into the pocket of her jeans. "If it'll shut you up."

"Are you okay?" He asked putting a hand lightly on her upper arm.

She nodded. "I'm tougher than I look."

"That must be pretty tough then," he said with a laugh.

"I try."

He leaned in and kissed her lightly on the cheek. "Be careful out there, Raven. I hate to see anything happen to you."

"Nothing's going to happen to me. But thank you for your concern. And thanks for taking care of them. Really, I don't know what I'd have done if you hadn't of showed up."

"Anytime," he smiled and put a hand around her waist pulling her to him. "I'd like to keep that date. How do you feel about that?"

"I don't know. I have to check my calendar," she said with a slow smile.

He laughed lightly and pulled her into a kiss. "You're trembling. I want to make you forget about tonight. Forget it ever happened," he said pulling away.

"Hmm, some parts are worth remembering," she said pulling him into another deep kiss.

"I'm glad I met you," he said touching her cheek lightly as he pulled away.

"You too, Falco..." she started when she was interrupted with "Raven!" being yelled in her head. "I better go," she said gesturing to the house.

He glanced up at the house. "I won't keep you. Pick you up tomorrow at eight?" he asked pulling her into an embrace.

"Sounds good," she said enjoying the feeling of his body around her.

"Call me if you need me," he said pulling a business card out of his wallet and handed it to her.

"Hmm...a lawyer by day, a vampire slayer by night?"

He shrugged. "Gotta have a hobby, right?"

"Aren't you kind of young to be a lawyer?"

"I skipped a few grades in school."

"How old are you?"

"Twenty-four. That ok? I know you're a little younger..."

"It's ok. I don't have a problem dating older men.... Well, maybe that is my problem."

He chuckled. "Hopefully, not," he said kissing her cheek. "I'll let you get to your friend," He said gesturing with his head to the house.

"So, what's so important you had to pull me away from let me just say... the most gorgeous guy in the world," Raven demanded walking into Emily's bedroom.

"Excuse me?" Trey asked looking up from the pillow he was lying on, on Emily's bed.

"What the hell's the matter with you? You look terrible," Raven said spotting Trey.

"Thanks. So glad I'm so easily replaced," he muttered rubbing his face sleepily into the pillow.

"Stop it you two," Emily told them. "There was an incident," she said turning to Raven.

"What? What happened?" Raven said taking off her leather jacket and sat down on the couch being sure to flash Trey her long legs.

"Sam was....pushed down the stairs."

"Oh my god! Is she ok?" Raven asked standing up. "Pushed? What do you mean pushed?!" She asked and then looked at Trey.

"Why are you looking at me like that? You think I'd push her?!" Trey demanded.

"No.... no, of course not. But what's with you? You sick?" Raven said walking over to him and put her hand to his forehead.

"Vampire. Hello," Trey said pushing her hand away. "No fevers."

"Trey has powers."

"Thanks, Em," Trey said rubbing his eyes.

"Well, everyone else knows."

"I don't want Isabella knowing. I told you that."

"She has to know the truth, Trey."

"Why?"

"What if she has a kid and..." Emily trailed off. "Sorry."

"Yeah, she can't. Won't. This dies with me. If I'm so lucky," he said looking up at the ceiling.

Raven slapped his arm. "Stop that. You'll live forever," she told him. Trey rolled his eyes. "What powers?" Raven demanded.

"Doesn't matter, Rave," Trey said.

"When you look the way you look now, yeah it does."

"Give me your neck, I'll feel better in a jiffy," he said with a smile tracing a finger down her neck.

She jumped away. He frowned. "Does he need it?" Raven asked Emily crossing her arms in comfort.

Emily nodded. "We're all tapped out for a couple days from Isabella and Tony. George gave some to Trey."

"George?! Our George?" Raven asked in surprise.

"Yeah."

"What the hell happened tonight?" Raven said looking from Emily back to Trey.

"Trey healed Sam. She would have died. He saved her."

"Yadda yadda. Blood, please, my dear," he said taking Raven's hand and kissed it.

"He saved her life?" she asked pulling her hand away.

"Enough about me saving her life. No big deal. Can't you people give it a rest?"

"No," Emily told him.

"Ok, can we talk about it later? Rave, I know you're ticked at me right now but would you please mind giving me...." he said and sat up straight looking at her face. "What the hell happened to you?"

"What?" she asked putting a hand to her neck and took a step away.

"You're scared of me," he said in disbelief.

"No, I'm not," she said with a laugh taking another step back.

"You are. Your heart rate is sky high. You've never been scared of me," he said in wonder. "Raven. What?"

Raven shook her head."Rave?" Emily said approaching her.

"Em, don't," Raven said putting her hand up.

Emily touched her shoulder and closed her eyes. "Oh my god. Why didn't I see this? Why?" Emily said shaking as she opened her eyes. "Rave."

"It's okay," Raven said a tear slipping down her face. She wiped quickly at it.

"No, it's not," Emily said shaking her head.

"What?" Trey asked trying to sit up. "What happened?"

"Nothing," Raven said.

"Don't tell me nothing!" Trey said pulling himself up by the headboard.

"Lie back down, you look like hell," Raven said pushing him away.

He pulled her to him "Don't," She said pushing him.

"What'd he do to you?" he demanded.

"He who?" Raven asked confused.

"Damn it. Tell me what happened."

"She was attacked. By vampires," Emily told him.

"Em," Raven said glaring at her.

"What?" he said taking her arms in his. "Rave, are you ok? What happened? Who was it?" he pulled at the top of her shirt to examine her neck.

"I don't know," Raven said pushing him away and sat down on the bed and cried.

"I'm not going to hurt you, Rave. You know I wouldn't," he said sitting next to her. "Ever."

"I'm sorry. I know," she said wiping her eyes.

"Hmm...that's what these are for..." he said pulling a stake out of her pocket. "Where'd you get the likes of these?" he asked examining the perfectly shaped stake of made of oak.

"Some guy..."

"What guy?" Emily asked.

"A slayer," Trey spat out in disgust.

"Falco. He saved me," Raven said with a hiccup. "He heard me scream. Killed the vamps. With those," she said nodding to the stake Trey was still examining with wonder.

"Where is he?"

"Falco?" she asked. He nodded. "He left. He dropped me off. Oh, my car! It's at the club."

"I'll get it," Trey said getting up.

"No, you won't! You're going to lie down," Emily told him.

"Do you know what this means?"

"No."

"It means there's a slayer on the loose."

"He's a good guy," Raven protested.

"Yeah, I bet," Trey said bitterly.

"He wouldn't hurt you, Trey," Raven said.

"He wouldn't think twice."

"He wouldn't hurt you," she repeated.

"He's beside the point, Rave. I can deal with him later. The vamps were probably sent to attack you."

"What? Why?"

"Part of the revenge," Trey said.

"You're kidding."

"I don't kid."

"Put that thing down," she said grabbing the stake he was still holding.

"Maybe it's best we pass these around," he said studying them.

"You think we're dealing with a vampire?" Raven asked.

"Oh, I know we are," Trey said with a chuckle

"He's after Tony. By going through us," Raven said in understanding

"I'll kill him," Trey said moving her shirt collar and examining her wounds more closely.

She put her hand on his wrist. "Don't do anything stupid."

"I can't promise anything," he said kissing her cheek.

"Trey," Emily said grabbing his arm when he passed.

"I'm getting stored from Tony's room. And then I'm going to a giver. Relax. I'm in no condition to try killing anyone tonight."

"Like that makes us feel better," Raven muttered.

"Glad you still care," he said walking down the steps.

"You okay?" Emily said hugging her.

"Yeah. Thanks."

"So, tell me about this Falco guy."

"Why do I always get the weird ones?"

"He's a slayer."

"Apparently. Lawyer by day. Buffy by night."

"Lawyer?"

"He's... older," Raven said laying back on the pillows.

"How much older?"

"Enough. But he's really great, Emily. You'd really like him. And he's...oh, so gorgeous."

Emily chuckled. "It's not all about looks."

Raven sighed. "Yeah, but it doesn't hurt," she said with a smile. "I don't know about this vamp slaying thing though. How can I go out with a guy that'll want to kill three of my best friends?"

"Maybe you should think about this more."

"I will. But in the meantime...I'm just going to think about his kiss..." Raven said with a smile.
