Chapter 12 - Annabeth

A/n: Okay this is where the actual action begins. So, this chapter takes place after Annabeth left to read the prophecy by the tree. I don't know how eventful these next 2 or 3 chapters will be, but I know they'll be important. Anyways, enjoy!

PoV: Annabeth

+As warriors come in cloaks of night,                                                         Let Athena 's child make things right.                                            As monsters come let humans die,                                                     The Moonlark will spread her wings and fly.

7 old and 7 new.                                                                                               Split to fight for what is true.                                                            When common enemies are against both sides,                            The forgotten power of old will arise.+

The words kept repeating over and over as I ran down Half Blood Hill to my cabin. I didn't even pause to knock as I rushed into the bathroom, not caring if there were people staring.

I turned on the sink and dropped in a drachma. I was to out of breath to say anything, so I just thought of who I wanted to see before turning around and shutting the door, keeping everyone else out.

Suddenly, Sophie's face appeared. "Sophie," I started, "We need to talk."

" Did you get a scroll with a prophecy too? " Sophie asked.

I looked at her image in the water, shocked, "Uh, yeah, I did. How'd you know?"

I watched as Sophie held up a scroll of her own. I cursed the gods under my breath before looking at her again, "Okay. Come back to New York, if you're allowed, and I'll take you to Camp Half Blood. There's someone I want you to talk to."

" Okay. Were exactly should I go? "

I thought for a moment before responding, "Well, school's out for today, right? Why don't I meet you there?"

" Okay. Should be there in a few... seconds. "

I smiled, "Okay, I get over as fast as I can." I turned off the faucet and walked out of the bathroom to find lots of campers staring at the door. I sighed, "What did you hear?"

A younger camper spoke, "We didn't hear anything. We were trying to, but we couldn't."

I nodded, "Good." I walked out of the cabin and went to find Chiron, who was in the Mess Hall with a camper I didn't recognize.

"Ah, Annabeth," he exclaimed as she walked in before turning to camper he was currently with, "I'm sorry to cut this short, but this is very important. I'll find you after." The camper nodded and left, leaving Chiron alone with me. " So, you read the prophecy? "

I nodded, "And, I was hoping you'd let me visit our high school quickly."

" Why? "

"There's a girl I met there that I think is part of our prophecy, and she said she would meet me there."

" Wait, how did she know about this? "

"I Iris Messaged her. And before you get mad, she'd figured out we were demigods while we were at school."

Chiron looked at me with a surprisingly curious look on his face, "And how did she get this information."

I looked at my feet, " She asked me not to say... "

"And I told you not to tell anyone about you being a demigod, and yet she somehow knows?"

"I already told you, she figured out herself. If I take her here, you can ask her in person."

Chiron sighed, " Fine. But be careful. If she can't make it though the barrier, let her stay there and come get me. "

I nodded before walking out and hurrying out of Camp Half Blood. I knew the dangers of going around alone, but it was just a quick stop.

I arrived at the school faster than I remembered. I looked around for Sophie until I heard her voice in my head.

#Annabeth?#

(Yeah?)

#Oh, it is you! It's still pretty bright out here, but I had to be sure. #

(Where are you?)

#Look up.#

Confused, I looked up to see Sophie sitting on the roof edge. She jumped down, using levitation to slow her fall. "So, you're going to take me to where you live?"

" Yeah. "I replied as we started wlking, "How long have you been there."

" About 10 minutes. My bodyguard, Sandor, gets mad when I sneak off without him, so I told him I was going to Everglen, where Fitz and Biana love because they have bodyguards as well. I told him that I wouldn't need him there since they have theirs, and I came here. "

"Nice. So, uh, the person I wanted you to meet? He may not trust you at first."

" That's okay. I'm used to the feeling. "

I paused and looked at Sophie, who just had a from but determined look on her face. I continued walking as I spoke, "Um... anyways, he might go a little overboard with protection, so just, don't feel intimated, okay?"

Sophie nodded and we kept walking in a somewhat comfortable silence until we reached camp. I stepped through the barrier and looked back when Sophie didn't follow me. I was expecting to see her trying to get in, but instead she just stared at it from a  few steps away. "Aren't you coming?" I asked.

" I'm not so sure I want to. " Sophie mumbled.

I walked back up to her, "What's wrong? It doesn't hurt!"

" Are you sure about that? " Sophie asked, meeting my eyes.

I was about to defend my answer when I remembered Sophie telling me about Psionipaths, elves that could make stinging force fields, and realized Sophie's hesitance. "It's okay. You can just wait there, if you want."

Sophie gratefully nodded and I turned to the Camp as I made my way to the Mess Hall. When I arrived, Chiron looked at me grimly. "She couldn't make it past?" He asked.

" More like she didn't want to. " I stated. "Come on, she's waiting."

It wasn't until I was on my way back with Chiron that my brain processed what had happened when Sophie and I arrived. After giving myself a quick rundown, I came to a surprising realization. Sophie didn't just see Camp Half Blood.

Sophie saw the Barrier itself.

And she wouldn't touch it.

Alrighty, friends! I've given you chapter 12! If any of you have minor plots I could add please tell me! I'll likely post more tomorrow, but until then you'll have to live with this. Farewell!
