Chapter 12- Blue's Back
(~Honey's POV~)
"You w-want to do what?" Y/N gives me a warning glare. It's very effective. I find my soul crumbling over her mom stare. I'm not sure if it's because I'm terrified of her or I think it's hot. Maybe both. I spit out the most nonsense answer I can come up with, "I think it would be nice for the twins to see monster culture. Y'know, where the family originated."
Roman looks like he's vibrating from excitement, "Mama! Mama! I want to go!!!" Even Serif looks excited too. Y/N looks down at them, "Boys, l-l-living room." "But Mamaaaa..." Roman whines. It was when she gave them the same glare that Serif quickly dragged his brother into the other room. I prepare myself for the worst. Y/N looks back to me, saying firmly, "P-Papyrus, I-I already have a-a-a headache t-this morning. I really d-don't have the patience to-" My brother steps up. "Please Human! I think my brother is right. It will be quality time for your offspring. They do not know what it is like to live a normal monster life. I truly believe that we can show them that here."
It may be an odd hunch but I believe Y/N is hesitant to fight with my brother. There's no doubt that she'll argue with me like there's no tomorrow. Y/N stares at Blue in silence for a long while.
'C'monnnnn.. Get her, Bro!'
My brother on the other hand, she literally can't say no too. "They'll be safe under the watch of The Magnificent Sans! I promise." Sans adds. I see all anger fade from Y/N as she looks away from him. I fight myself not to smile.
'Oh we're winning her over~'
Y/N closes her eyes and huffs. "You're l-lucky that y-y-you're my best friend, B-Blue. Very lucky." "YeS!" I shout, victorious. The odds were against us but I'm now convinced that my bro can do anything. As long as it's related to winning over Y/N. Also, I just now realize that I kinda shouted without giving it a second thought. Now I have both Y/N and Sans' eyes on me. I laugh nervously and fight the urge to pull my hood over my head. Y/N gives me one more narrowed glance before she continues the conversation with Blue. "I h-have to give Serif his m-medicine first."
'Wait- medicine?'
"The kid looks healthy." I blurt out.
'I mean, he did look a little pale when we first met but he looks a lot better now?'
"You c-can't a-assume things you d-don't understand." She snaps back. Speaking of the little skeleton, Serif must've heard his name called. He slowly approaches and hides behind his mother. In his hands is a small and white prescription box.
(~Your POV~)
"Mama." Serif whispers. I bend down on one knee to face my son. I softly caress his cheek in my hand, whispering back to him, "You ready?" He hesitates and looks to Sans. "Mama, I want Uncle Sans to do it." Serif states firmly. Papyrus gives him a look of bewilderment. Sans stares at us blankly with no hint of his current thoughts.
'Why? He doesn't even remember us. He wouldn't know how to-'
Serif gives me a hopeful smile. As if he could read my thoughts, he answers, "I believe he knows how to. Just give him a chance. What's the worst that can happen anyway?" Serif has definitely developed a chill and laid back perspective like his father. I anxiously grab the box from him and tap it against my other hand a few times. I look to Blue. I'll have to trust him. I always have. After having convinced myself of that, I openly offer the box to him.
'Let's hope this works, Serif.'
Sans steps forward and grabs it from me. I find myself out of breath as he opens it. Honey chimes in, "Y/N, are you sure?" I nod. Honestly I'm not sure of this at all. Though, I want to get my answer just like Serif does. If nothing can bring him back, we'll have to accept that the people we loved are gone for good.
Sans takes out the injection pen. Serif patiently waits once he stands in front of him. Blue inspects the injector multiple times. "I don't understand." "It's okay, Uncle Sans. I believe in you." Serif tells him cheerfully. Blue's hands begin to shake. Honey tries to intervene but I grab onto his sleeve to hold him here. Papyrus stops, glances to me, and then watches his brother closely.
'Let him figure it out.'
Blue finally looked at Serif. His gaze has now changed to natural but concentrated. "Hold still." He commands. Blue magic emits from his gloved hand as he makes a simple pulling gesture. Serif's soul is turned blue and then brought out his ribcage. So far he's doing everything right. The sooner it can be over for Serif, the better.
Serif always hates this part. Other monsters like him take the injection in their arm so the magic can get into their body. Since he's a skeleton and made of only bone, the only matter he can successfully inject the magic into is his soul. The action hurts a lot more than a simple prick but it's only for a moment.
Blue holds the injector up to Serif's small soul. It's shuddering and beating quickly. We can all see the fear that Serif tries so hard to hide. Serif tenses up and closes his eyes. "Wait. We can't." Blue says to me. I tilt my head.
'What?'
"My brother didn't get sick until we left the underground. Serif is safe-" Sans suddenly winces and grabs at his head. The pen drops from his hands. I have to hold Honey back further as Sans staggers back with dark eye sockets. Not gonna lie, I completely forgot about that fact. It's been so long since Papyrus had explained it to me.
'Monsters with soul deficiencies were not discovered until they came to the surface due to it having less magic. We're not on the surface...'
Blue's pupils flicker and then take form again. They're small and panicked as he looks around. "Where am I? This isn't- Our old house?!!" He looks down, getting even more freaked out. "Oh my sTaRs! WHaT am I wEarINg?" "Uncle Sans!" Serif shouts loud and clear. Sans looked to him with widened eyes. "Serif, what are you doing here?! Where is Roman? How did we get down here in the underground? We have to get back to the surface right away before your mom finds out-" Serif lunges at him with a tight hug which Sans returned without hesitation. "Actually, I-I'm down h-h-here too." I laugh and wave to get Sans' attention. I feel my soul soaring.
'Have we actually done it?'
"Sans.. Do y-you r-remember where we m-met?" I ask him. "Remember? What do you mean by 'remember'? Somehow I wake up here in the underground and you guys are here too and you want to ask me where we met? We met when I was working at that grocery store because I needed to pay off my brother's-...." He suddenly freezes like solid stone. I see it in his face. Something clicked again. Maybe his memories merging together. Surely he remembers being stuck with us for the past few days. Just as I expected, Blue looks to Papyrus.
I urgently stretch out both of my hands. "Blue, don't freak out-" It's too late. Sans threw himself back into the corner of the kitchen. He begins hyperventilating with tears welling up in his eyes. I grab Honey by the arm, demanding, "You! OUT!" He fights to get past me. He wants to get to Blue but that is not the best way to handle this. According to how I was and now to what Blue's dealing with now, Papyrus has been dead for over a decade. "What are you-" I shove Papyrus out of the kitchen, "I s-saID OUT!!!"
'Dude just can't take a hint!!!'
(~Honey's POV~)
'What the freaking heck!!!'
Y/N may have shoved me out but I still can see them through the kitchen doorway. "Mama!" Serif is standing by my brother, panicked and unsure what to do. Y/N literally runs over to them and hold Sans as tightly as she can. I see his hands wrap around her and claw into Y/N's back. She doesn't flinch at all.
He's in a panicked state. Being family, our souls are connected. I feel the immense pain and panic emanating out from his soul like a scream for help. I grab at my own chest, struggling to breathe. There's one and only one thing racing through my mind right now.
'Sans.'
Sans continues sobbing and hyperventilating. It's so hard to watch. I want to do something, anything that'll make his pain stop. Yet, it appears that I'm the one that caused it in the first place.
'I'm useless.'
"Mama! What's going on?!" Roman rushes past me and into the kitchen to meet up with them. Overwhelmed by it all, I can't move. Y/N holds Sans closely while speaking to him firmly, "It's a-a l-lot to take in. I k-know, Sans. I-I k-know. Just b-breathe. BREATHE."
