"King Norio! You're so young, yet so wise!" yelled an old lady from the crowd.
"King Norio! Thank you for the free crops! My family can finally eat like we use too!" yelled a woman from the crowd that seemed to get louder the minute.
"King Norio! I love you!" yelled a girl who held up a poster with King Norio's face on it, along with hearts and lipstick smudges that looked like kisses.
"Ah, yes, thank you all!" Said the King as he waved from his castle's balcony.
Soon, the King was tired and decided to leave his happy fans for his comfortable throne.
"Oh adviser! I need your advice!" yelled the King as he rung a bell.
"Yes, my young King?" questioned the adviser as he bowed, only getting up when Norio begin to speak.
"I.. I feel bored-"
"A game of chess, or perhaps Croquet?"
"No no, I do enjoy those things, but, I feel bored doing them. I mean, my whole kingdom gives me the love and joy I've always wanted, but now... Now I think I'm ready to share this with... with-"
"Your lover?" questioned the adviser.
The King stood up quickly, pointing at the adviser, scaring him to death.
"Ah-hah! You're right adviser! I need to marry a beautiful maiden and make her my lover!" yelled the King as he hugged the adviser and was off.
The adviser managed to say a quick, confused thank you, but the King was already walking through his village looking for a beautiful woman to suit his needs.
. . .
I entered a kingdom by dawn. I was searching for tolerable food. I usually sprinted for a chicken salad, but I was feeling.. hungrier.
"One steak please," I told the waitress.
"How would you like it cooked sweetie?" questioned the waitress as she also questioned what was under the mask.
I assumed by her pep that she was smiling.
"Medium-rare," I mumbled.
"Medium-rare is the pink stuff sweetheart-" the waitress was cut off.
"I know that. I want medium-rare," I mumbled, not once looking at the waitress.
"Okay then," agreed the waitress and off she went to go yell at the cooks.
Stares bit into my skin as I sat in the back of the little restaurant. It wasn't fancy or big, nor was it a rundown shack of trash. It was.. normal?
It had wooden booths with cushions on them that went along with a matching table. The same thing goes with wooden chairs.
Being a party of one, with no fun, I sat in the back where there was a wooden chair and a little wooden table. It was getting on my nerves that these humans were staring at me as if I had done something wrong.
Then, a man came up to me.
"Uh, excuse me ma'am, you're frightening the customers, could please take off your mask?" smiled a man, perhaps the manager.
"No," I said.
"Please listen, I don't want to cause any trouble," said the man, still smiling.
I look up to the man, causing him to flinch.
"That smile on your face, it's fake. You're frightened, yet curious about what's under my mask," I said.
"I, uh-"
"I came here to eat, I even have my valuable money to pay with," I said as I laid my cash out on the table. "I didn't come here to pay this establishment to tell me off."
"You're certainly right ma'am, pl-please don't hurt me!" yelled the man as he ran to the back of the restaurant.
"Alright sweetheart, here's your steak!" said the peppy lady as she laid my plate of steak in front of me.
"Thank you," I said as I placed my cash in her hand.
"Oh, sweetheart, you gave me too much-"
"The rest is a tip," I said.
"But sweetheart, money doesn't grow on trees," the waitress said as she placed down the extra money.
Her math skills are right on, why is she a waitress, if she's able to make calculations this fast, then she could be great with some type of high leveled math.
"Use the money to find a better job," I said as I grabbed my fork and knife, beginning to dig into this delectable, juicy meat, only showing my mouth as I sunk my teeth into it.
"Pardon?" questioned the waitress.
"A fake smile is the most painful lie, but it's the most effective way to escape questions," I said as I finished my steak.
I got up, leaving what I left, and started for the door. The waitress grabbed my arm.
"What.. What are you?" questioned the waitress.
I stared into the eyes of the waitress, and said, "A mist of mystery that comes and.. goes.."
She let go of my arm. I walked out of the restaurant as another walked in.
. . .
Our eyes met.
. . .
Even though I couldn't see her face, I knew she was beautiful. I also knew that she would be my young, wise, and beautiful queen.
