Kalani | Beach

The picnic was currently set up and we were all sitting on the blanket, my parents on one side of and Lucas and I on the other.

Me: I feel like a huge kid.

He took a bit of his sub from Subway.

Lucas: Why?

Me: I'm on a picnic with my parents and ex boyfriend.

Dad: You don't like the picnic?

Me: I do. I just feel like a huge kid. I don't know, it's weird.

Nobody said anything else as we ate our subs.

Me: Lucas?

Lucas: Wassup?

Me: Race you to the water?

He chuckled.

Lucas: Na, Ian a kid.

Me: Suit your self.

I put my sub down and quickly took out the braids that was in the top of my head and got up.

Me: I'll be in the ocean.

I took off running and stopped at the edge of the water, as soon as I got ready to put my foot in to see how cold it was, I was picked up and by the tattoo I saw, it was of course, Lucas.

Me: Put me down!

He chuckled.

Lucas: Na, you good shorty.

He walked in further down and stopped when the water was at his waist, I started to scream as I knew what he was about to do but he quickly tossed me in. I gasped for air as I came back up, slinging my wet hair from my face. 

Me: You are such a-

I was cut off as I got pushed underwater. Once I came back up, I quickly wiped the water from my face and eyes to see Lucas laughing like this shit was funny.

Me: Glad it's funny.

He got ready to speak but I tackled him into the water.

Me: How does it feel, fool?

I let him come back up and grinned at him as he looked at me. I slowly began to swim backwards as he came towards me. He grabbed me and held in place as he came towards my face. 

Lucas: Heads up.

Before I even knew what was happened, I was underwater...again

When I came back up I knew my face was red from anger and trying to get some air.

Me: Lucas! I will murder you!

Lucas: You gone have ta catch me first babygirl!

His voice sounded kind of far away so I knew he swam away. Once I could see again, I saw he was on the shore looking at me. 

Me: Your an ass!

Lucas: You love me!

I swam to the shore and walked up to him.

Me: Whatevs.

We headed back to where my mom sat with her camera and my father.

Mom: You two are so cute.

Me: Still not happening.

I grabbed a towel from the middle of the blanket and began to dry my hair the best I could, I then wrapped myself in it.

Me: So what times is your flight?

Mom: Eight something.

Dad: 9:00 is when we have to be at the airport.

I laughed at my mom.

Me: Oh okay, what time is it now?

Mom: 3:20.

Dad: You seem like your really ready to get rid of us.

Me: Of course not, I just don't want you to miss your flight.

I smiled big making them laugh.

Mom: Oh just admit it, your ready for me to leave.

Me: YES! I am so ready for you to leave, mother!

She laughed even though she knew it was true.

Mom: I know, I'm sorry about yesterday and the day before. You know how I am.

Me: I know mom and it's okay. I still love you.

She mouthed "awe" with her hand over her heart.

Mom: I love you too, darling.

I laughed.

Me: Okay! Enough of this sappiness! 

They all laughed at me.

Me: Mom, aren't you getting inside the water?

Mom: Oh no no. I'm okay.

She had on a one piece. 

I looked at my dad and Lucas with a smile on my face.

Me: Yall wanna do it?

Mom: Do what?

We all stood up and headed towards my mother.

Mom: No, get away from me!

We all picked her up and took her into the water and threw her in like Lucas did to me. We laughed as she came up cussing at us.

Mom: You all are dicks! You assholes! Why would fucking do that, idiots! God your all annoying bitches!

She was still spitting water out of her mouth between sentences which made us laugh even harder. 

Her and dad swam away as she still cussed at us, I shook my head and looked at Lucas. I began to swim around him.

Lucas: What are you doin?

Me: Swimming, can't ya see?

He chuckled.

Lucas: Aigh'.

| 4 Hours Later |

We were currently heading to my mechanic so I could get my car from the shop, even though I was half asleep and my hair was still sorta dripping. 

I looked at him decided if I wanted to ask him if I could lay on his lap until we got to his hotel. I needed a little nap since I was going to Trinity's to make sure she was okay. I haven't heard from her in three days. 

Trinity is known for going M.I.A, but never on me, and that worried me. I had to pick up my car from the shop today anyways, so I was going to pop up at her house.

Me: Lucas?

He looked over at me while his hand played in his wet hair.

Lucas: Wassup?

Me: Can I lay on your lap?

Lucas: You'on gotta ask, babygirl. C'mon.

I unclipped my seat belt and laid on his jean covered lap.

Before we left the beach, every switched back into their day clothes, except I didn't slip my heels back on. So I'm barefooted for now. I had a pair of sandals in my car that I was going to slip on. 

I mumbled a thanks as I drifted off.

32 minutes later, I was being shaken.

Me: Go away, Trinity.

I heard Lucas's voice.

Lucas: I'm not Trinity and I'm not going away.

I popped my eyes open to see my mom and father looking at me from the front seat.

Mom: We're here, at your mechanic.

I looked up to see Lucas looking down at me since I was in his lap. 

Me: Oh. 

I sat up straight and looked out the dark window to see my mechanic, Adrian waving at me. I shot him a tired smile. 

Me: Okay, you guys don't have your luggage?

Dad: Nope.

Me: Okay, on my back porch is a chair that dad gave me. Dad in that hidden compartment is the spare key to the back door. Oh and to get inside my gate for the back there's a padlock on it, dad, you know the code.

Yeah, my father made sure I was protected since I lived alone. He wanted to get me a Pitbull and German Sheppard but I thought the alarm system, pad lock on the back gate and the three locks on my front door was enough.

Dad: Okay.

Mom: You know we will probably be gone before you get back, yes?

Me: I know. These three days with you were hell-ish but fun too. Especially today.

Mom: Awe, I'll take that to heart. 

I laughed and kissed their cheeks.

Me: I love you mom and dad.

Them: I love you too, honey.

Lucas said his goodbyes to my parents as well before we both got out of the car with our stuff. We got ready to head over to Adrian but my mom called us back.

Me: Yeah?

Mom: I forgot to give you these.

She handed Lucas and I some pictures.

Mom: Same pictures, your cute together.

Me: When did you get these?

She laughed.

Mom: When you were sleep, I stopped off at Walmart and got the pictures developed from earlier.

Me: Awe, thanks mom.

We said our final goodbyes and she pulled off. We headed over to Adrian who was wiping his hands on a rag.

Me: Hey Adrian, so what was wrong?

Adrian: Well, I had to change your oil, your rear axle was bad and I had to change your break pads.

Me: And how much is this going to cost.

Adrian: One thousand and two hundred dollars.

Me: Well that's not much, but I don't have the cash on me. I need to go to an ATM.

Adrian: Well here's the spare keys, go get it.

Yeah, I know your supposed to pay before you can get the car back but Adrian is my second best friend. I went to middle school with him but then he moved away in high school, we still did Facetime and rare visits though but our friendship has never dulled and never got broken. Since he knows I never carry more than two hundred dollars worth of cash on me, he let's me drive my own car to the ATM and bring the money back to him since he trusts me and I trust him. Plus he knows where I live and everything things else.

Me: Okay, I'll be right back.
