Okay so I've never been to Boathouse on the Bay so idk how it works there. I'm going by imagination. So, if you've been there and know my way is completely different, don't say nothing.
Kalani | 1:30 pm
I was not with the shit.
Today we had a test and I was not with this shit. My brain just wasn't with it. I was nearly tripping and shit but good thing it's not my turn to show my choreography yet.
All that was on my brain was the fact that Lucas told Ma and Pa that there was still communication between us when there wasn't and I wanted to know why.
I had already decided that after class I was going to shoot him a text saying that we needed to talk, asap.
Mrs. Greene: Kalani, you're up.
We were in the theater so the ones who weren't performing yet, were sitting in the chairs. I was one who was sitting in the chair but now considering it's my turn to perform, I was getting up and heading down the aisle and to the stage.
Mrs. Greene: What's the name of your song again?
Me: Uh Heart Cry Remix.
Mrs. Greene: By Drehz?
Me: That's the one.
Since today was test day, we had to be in our leotard and tights with our hair in a doughnut bun.
I stood center stage and waited for my music to start.
I dragged my last move off the stage with a smile on my face. I heard the claps and I came back on stage. I stood on stage with my feet in first position waiting for Mrs. Greene to call out my grade.
Mrs. Greene: 94.8. Good job, Kalani.
Me: Thank you.
A 94!? Seriously?
That was worth way more than a ninety-four.
I exited off stage and sat back in my seat and watched the next dancer go up.
I was back to my thoughts now which made me remember that I never asked Lucas if Trinity never told him to come and try to make up with me, would he have made up with me. So we needed to talk. Like asap.
I know it's wrong to be hanging around Lucas while he has a girlfriend, and I know I need to stop but I can't help myself. I'm still in love with Lucas and just being around him, feels like old time and I missed that. I really did.
With Lucas, it's like I'm a freaking junkie and he's a drug. I hate it but then again, I like it so much.
I need to cut this "relationship" off before something bad happens. I don't need Amber confronting me about anything. I don't need to keep letting Lucas come around and when he leaves I become heartbroken again. I don't need to ruin their relationship by accident. I don't need any drama over something like this. I'm too grown anyways.
The test went on for about forty-five more minutes before it was over. We were backstage gathering our belongings when Mrs. Greene caught all of our attention.
Mrs. Greene: Good job today ladies, especially Delores, Ashley, Katherine and Kalani. You four did amazing. Everyone has to work on something. I will send out a list to each of you personally so you can know what to work on. Good day ladies.
She gave us a smile before walking off.
I slipped my bag onto my shoulder and walked out of the theater and into the changing room. I quickly changed back into my clothes and let my hair down. I ran a hand through it to make it messy and headed out to my car. I put the bag in the back and slid into the drivers' seat. I shot Lucas a text.
We need to talk...like ASAP.
-Kalani ; 2:53 pm
I got ready to lock my phone but had an incoming message from Lucas.
Aigh' wassup shawty ?
-Lucas ; 2:53 pm
You free right now? It's not something you can just text on.
-Kalani ; 2:54 pm
Yea' Ian doin shit all day.
-Lucas 2:55 pm
Good. I'll be there in about forty minutes. Be outside and look for a black Mercedes. ttyl.
-Kalani ; 2:55 pm
I put my phone away and started my engine. I put my gear and drive and pulled off.
I pulled up at the same time as he was walking out. I rolled down the window so he could see it was me. He opened the door and slid in the car.
Lucas: So wassup, what was so important?
Me: Buckle up.
I pulled off as he was bucking his seatbelt.
Lucas: Afta' all these damn years, you still a bad driva'.
Me: Okay but are you dying?
He chuckled.
Lucas: Who you so feisty, babygirl?
Me: Who said I'm feisty?
I cut on my turn signal before turning left on to oncoming traffic.
Lucas: You actin like ya mad.
I sighed and drove with my right hand while my left arm leaned on the door and I leaned my hand on it.
Me: I don't even know how I feel right now.
Lucas: What's wrong?
Me: After I went to see ma and pa, I was thinking.
Lucas: About?
I parked and cut the engine.
Me: Hungry?
Lucas: Yea I can eat.
We got out the car and I locked the doors. We headed inside of Boathouse on the Bay and Lucas got my attention.
Lucas: Aigh' what are ya not doin'?
I raised an eyebrow at him and stopped walking.
Me: Uh, walking?
Lucas: Na, payin. You ain' payin'. Got it?
I huffed.
Me: When can I pay for something?
Lucas: When ya not wit me.
I rolled my eyes. The lady came up to us.
Lady: How many?
Lucas: Two.
Lady: Follow me please.
On her way to wherever she was taking us, she grabbed two menus. She led us to a table and we sat down in our chairs.
Lady: My name is Jennifer and I will be your waitress. Would you like a soup?
Me: No thank you.
Lucas: Na, I'm good.
Jennifer: Okay. What about a starter?
Me: No. I just want a three-course meal please.
I was annoyed with everything that had legs and could talk right now and I think she sensed that as she tried to secretly roll her eyes but I caught it.
Me: I'm sorry, is there a problem.
My New York accent was coming out. I hate when it comes out because then I really lose my shit.
Jennifer: Ma'am, please lower your voice.
Me: Sweetie, I'm not yelling at all. I am talking very calmly but don't make me start yelling up in th-
Lucas: Aye, chill out yall. Can you jus' take our orders and leave before she flip ha shit.
Jennifer the waitress sighed.
Jennifer: Okay. Then what is your appetizer.
Me: I will have the chicken lettuce wrap. Hold the mushrooms, chestnuts and hoisin's.
Jennifer: So just chicken, lettuce and BBQ sauce?
I sighed.
Me: Yes. Just that.
Jennifer: Okay and for you sir?
Lucas: I jus' want an entree but what kinda drinks you got?
Jennifer: Alcoholic beverages, sir.
Me: Like what, id-
Lucas: Kalani.
I looked at him to see him looking at the menu.
Me: What?
Lucas: Why so feisty babygirl?
Me: I. Am. Not. Feisty.
Both the waitress and Lucas snickered. I looked at the waitress.
Me: Honey, no one asked you.
Lucas: Damn chill out, Kalani.
I sighed and leaned my temple of my middle finger.
Lucas: Lemme get a lemon drop martini.
I looked through the "drinks" and my eye came upon a Pirate Palmer.
Me: Let me get a Pirate Palmer.
Lucas: You sure you want alcohol? You're driving.
I shrugged.
Me: If I get too drunk, you drive.
Lucas: Aigh'.
Jennifer: I have a chicken wrap, a pirate palmer and a lemon drop martini. Is that correct?
Lucas: Yea but where's my entree?
Jennifer: Usually we wait until you've finished your appetizer to come back and take your order for the entree.
Lucas: Oh aigh'.
Jennifer: Ok. Your beverages will be out soon along with your food.
She walked away and I rolled my eyes. Lucas looked at me as he sat down his menu.
Lucas: Aigh' what's wrong wit' ya.
Me: Nothing.
Lucas: Lies.
I playfully rolled my eyes.
I swear, my eyes are going to be stuck in the back of my head.
Me: She was getting on my nerves. I tried to be civil with her.
Lucas: Tried? You nearly flipped yo shit shorty.
I laughed and shrugged.
Lucas: So wassup? You said we had to talk.
Me: Okay yeah so a few things. First, I went to see pa and ma today.
Lucas: I know. Were dey happy to see ya?
Me: Yeah. They also said that you haven't been there in five to six months.
Lucas: I been busy.
Me: Too busy to go see the people who basically raised you?
He didn't say anything. He just looked at me.
Me: Which brings me to my next thing. I told them I'm bring you around sometime.
He chuckled.
Lucas: Yea' I knew you prolly said dat.
Me: What? How so?
He shrugged.
Lucas: I just did.
I shook my head with a smile on my face.
Me: Whateves. So, when are ya free?
Lucas: Everyday basically. Amber and I don't really do anything.
Me: Seriously?
Lucas: Yea, I mean we did sum'in wit er'body excluded Bali, but nun wit jus me and her.
Me: Does it make you sad, mad?
He shrugged.
Lucas: Not really cause ian really sittin' round fa too long.
Lucas can never sit around for too long. If he does he gets very antsy and angry. I found that out the hard way when we were stuck in an elevator for ten hours together. Don't ask.
Me: Got it and the second thing. When Trinity gave me back my keys, she told me that Bali told her to tell you to come to me. So, if Trinity never told you to come to me, would you?
He went silent for a minute before leaning up.
Lucas: Yea I still woulda came.
Me: Why?
Lucas: I love you, Kalani. Yea, I forgot bout you fa two years, but you were still in my heart. I sound like a bitch right now.
I laughed and folded my arms with my elbow on the table.
Me: But its adorable, so keep going.
He chuckled.
Lucas: Bottom line, I woulda went through whateva just to find ya lil ass again.
Me: I'm not little.
He chuckled.
Lucas: Yea aigh' keep believin' dat.
The waitress came back with our drinks and my appetizer.
Me: Thank you.
Jennifer: Your welcome.
She walked off and I took a sip of my cocktail.
Me: Mhm.
I know I should tell him that I need to stop being around him, but I just can't bring myself to do it yet.
A few more days shouldn't hurt, right?
