I sighed as I walked back to Phoenix Drop. I didn't want to believe what Vylad said, but I did. I don't know why but something about him made me trust him more than the others. Maybe I should tell him about my past... But I have to run this by Owl first. If she doesn't approve then I don't want to do this. Then again, she never makes her own decisions... so she should say yes.

I go up into the treehouse and I find Owl there reading a book. Nobody else was up here so it was a great place to talk about this kind of thing. "Hey, sis! Where did you get that?" I ask sitting beside her.

She looks up. "Oh, hey. I got this from Emmalyn. It's a book about Lady Irene from her old library, and it's so interesting!"

"Well, that's cool but... can you put it down for one minute so we can talk?"

Owl nods and closes the book. "Sure! What's up?"

"Well... I want to reveal to everyone our names."

Owl's eyes widened. "W-What?! But we worked so hard to keep them hidden! And these people... what if they're traitors?"

"Well... I talked to Vylad. He told me about everyone here and I believe the stories," I explained.

"But... sis... Our safety-" I cut her off.

"Won't be affected if we tell them our real names. I realize that now. We aren't famous nor are we criminals. We can easily tell them our names and we'll be fine," I put my hand on her shoulder.

"B-but... What if..." Owl trails off.

"No 'but's or 'what if's right now, okay? I know what I'm doing."

Owl stands up and got angry and confident all of a sudden. "Y/n, has it ever crossed your mind the bandits could be looking for us?! They could come to Phoenix Drop acting like regular, kind people and they could ask for Y/n and Owl. If they don't know our actual names we could be safe! Plus, I like the name Amethyst! You always do what you want because you're older and I'm sick of it!" Owl yells.

"S-sis... Calm down... I don't have to tell them if you don't want me to." I smile.

"Why are you smiling?" Owl asks.

"It's just... you've never acted this way before, heh. Is the shy Owl dead now?"

"Maybe," My sister says crossing her arms.

I wipe a fake tear from my eye. "Aww... I never got to say goodbye!"

Owl giggled. "I-I'm still alive. S-sorry for my sudden outburst I wasn't thinking straight..." She sits back down again.

"It's fine. But, where did you learn to act like that?" I ask.

"Well... Laurance said not to let anyone push you around so..."

"Aww! You have a crush, don't you? You keep on talking about him!" I tease.

Owl blushes. "N-no! What about you and Vylad? You talk to him more than anyone else in this village!"

"Don't change the subject!" I blush as well.

Owl and I laugh at each other's flushed faces.

~Timeskip~

I walk out of the tree house after a talk with my sister. We had talked about many random things and to be honest I don't remember most of it. She did eventually allow me to tell everyone our actual names so that's good at least. I walked towards the merchant shop to buy an apple. Today, an older man with blonde hair and blue eyes was running the shop.

"Hello. You must be Logan," I say.

The man nods. "And you must be F/n," He replies.

"Actually... no. My name is Y/n," I introduce myself.

"Hmm... I must have heard your name wrong then. What do you want?" Logan asks.

"Just an apple, please," I answer.

"Alright then." Logan opens a chest and pulls out a shiny red apple. "This will be one gold."

I nod and I give him some gold that Owl found. She gave it to me when we were chatting. Logan gives me the apple.

"Thanks," I say as I walk away from the stand. I wander around Phoenix Drop until I accidentally bump into Malachi.

"Hey, Malachi," I say biting into my apple.

"Hi! Nice day out, isn't it F/n?" Malachi asks.

I swallow the bite I took. "Actually... my name's Y/n. And Amethyst's name is actually Owl... I'm sorry for lying to you the first time we met."

Malachi's eyes widened. "Oh! Well then, you better go talk to Levin. I'll bring you to him." Malachi then grabs my hand and pulls me towards the Lord's house.

What?! Why do I have to talk to the Lord?! Am I going to be punished for lying?

We get to the house and Malachi goes inside with me. I sit on the couch while Malachi talks to Levin. I eavesdrop on them.

"Brother... F/n's name is actually Y/n," Malachi tells him.

"Oh, well... we better tell the other villagers, shouldn't we?" Levin asks.

"Yeah, we should. You might want to talk to her first, though. I brought her here."

"Okay." Levin comes towards me. "Hello... so Malachi tells me your name is actually Y/n?"

I nod. "Yes, but please don't punish me for lying to the Lord! I'm so sorry!" I panic.

Levin laughs. "We won't punish you, it's fine! I understand that you didn't trust us before. I came to talk to you because I want to know: Why did you think to tell us your real name, now?"

"Well... Someone convinced me that you were good people." I answer.

Levin nods. "I see. Your sister has a different name, too, doesn't she?"

"Yeah. It's Owl."

Levin smiles. "You two have beautiful names."

Levin then explains to me what we're going to do. Malachi went to get Owl so when Levin gets everyone's attention at the town square, we can tell them our names.

Owl comes in with Malachi and then we leave the house. We go outside to the center of the town and Levin yells out. "CAN I GET YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE!!!"

Everyone looks towards us immediately.

"Gah! Levin! I think you broke our eardrums!" Malachi covers his ears.

"Sorry, bro. Anyways, now that I've gotten everyone's attention F/n and Amethyst have something to say."

I step up. "Yeah, um... Our names aren't F/n and Amethyst. They're actually Y/n and Owl..." I trail off.

I could hear quiet whispers all around me. "Well, I think that's it! Everyone back to your day." Levin and Malachi then go back into the house.

Donna and Kawaii~Chan come up to me and my sister. "Girls, you didn't need to hide your name from us!" Donna exclaims.

"We know and we're sorry..." Owl says.

"Oh, it's fine! As long as you trust Donna~Chan and Kawaii~Chan!" Kawaii~Chan smiles and then they left.

"That went better than expected," I admit looking at Owl.

"Yeah..."

Owl then walks away and I go to talk to Vylad. Maybe he didn't hear the announcement. Besides, I wanted to tell him myself. I go to the place he said he'll always be.

"Vylad?" I call out.

"Y/n, huh?" Vylad says as he comes out from the shadows.

"Woah! You scared me! How do you do that? I didn't even know you were there!" I exclaim.

"Heh, it's a gift. Anyways, Y/n...?"

I nod. "Yep. And Owl. I'm so sorry for not telling you first."

"Nah, it's fine."

"Because I care about people. I was not a good person in the past but... I think I can turn over a new life."

Vylad's words echoed in my mind. I decided to ask him about what he said.

"Vylad... what did you mean when you said you weren't a good person? What happened in your past?"

Vylad sighed. "I don't really like talking about that..."

"Please?" I ask.

Vylad looks at me. "Fine, I'll tell you. Only if you tell me your past right after."

I nod. "Deal. So?"

"Well..."
