Your POV

I look down at the poor boy crying in my arms. I sigh, kissing his forehead. He looks up at me and smiles, then steps away from me.

"I-I'm sorry I broke down like that. I'm just... I don't want to lose you..." He says, sheepishly looking into my eyes. "I was... such an idiot. Watching over Laurance, the darkness that surrounded him corrupted me a bit, and I let my Shadow Knight side take over my mind. I tried to remember that you love me, that you're here for me, but it was too hard. I resorted to pushing you away but, after running into a fairly angry Alec, I realized that I had made a mistake. I'm so glad I managed to get to you in time. I love you... but, I get it if you don't forgive me."

"To be honest, Vylad... what you did really broke me. I guess I should learn not to listen to you when you get like that, huh?" I grab Vylad's hands, and I smile. "I forgive you, though. I know you weren't in your right mind. I promise, next time that happens, I won't let you walk off. We can talk it through."

Vylad grins and lets go of my hand, cupping my cheek. "Thank you, beautiful, but that won't be necessary. I won't let this happen ever again. I promise, N/n, that I'll be more controlling over my Shadow Knight side and... I want to be more honest with you. I'm going to give all my secrets away."

"Um, I'm sorry to interrupt, but what exactly is happening here?" A certain raven-haired woman asks.

Vylad lets go of me and we both turn to face her, and the blonde next to her. "Oh," I mutter, "I guess we never told you... Aphmau, Vylad and I are dating, but could you please not tell anybody?"

Aphmau nods, a smile growing on her face. "Sure."

"Oh, right, are you guys okay- Y-Y/n..." Vylad trails off, staring at my arm. I follow his line of vision to see my arm rapidly bleeding out. "Heal that. Now. I hate seeing you hurt," Vylad commands.

I slightly grin, happy that he still cares so much about me. I obey him, putting my hand on top of the wound and closing my eyes.

I need to heal... for Vylad, my boyfriend...

I then feel cool air on my hurt arm, despite the fact that it's covered, and when I open my eyes, the large cut is gone faster than it came.

From the corner of my eye, I could see Garroth staring at me in shock.

"I never knew you could do that..."

I laugh. "Don't you remember? My mom was a magicks user, it only makes sense that I am too."

Garroth nods. "I guess so."

"Vylad, you mentioned Laurance... Were you looking after him? Is that why you went missing for so long?" Aphmau asks.

Vylad sighs. "Oh, right, I guess if I'm working on being honest, I should start with the easiest secret to tell: Laurance is not well." Aphmau gasps, but that's not all Vylad has to say... "... I think he's in trouble."

"W-What?" I ask.

"I'll tell you why in a second, but let's get back to Phoenix Drop, first, where it's safer. Ivy might come back."

I nod, as we all head back to Phoenix Drop.
~
When we get back to the gates, Aphmau starts talking, "Vylad, you said Laurance is in trouble. What did you mean?"

The now green-eyed Vylad nods. "Right. I should rephrase: He's not in any immediate danger, but while that may be the case, there is something larger going on. That's why I haven't been necessarily looking after him - I was tracking him, but that's because what's going on is troubling, and you should know."

I grasp Vylad's hand. "What's going on with him, Vylad?"

"It's the Calling," He states.

"Which is...?" Garroth asks.

"It's the nether. It's calling out to Laurance."

"What?"

Vylad sighs. "Maybe that's not the best way to say it... let me start at the beginning. The Calling is something that happens to all Shadow Knights, not just Laurance. We were born in the nether, or, reborn, really. Each of us. That is where we're from. It's in our blood, and while some Shadow Knights walk into the fold, there are others, like Laurance, who rebel against their new life, but never truly escape."

Then Garroth asks, "Is that what you did?"

Vylad simply nods and continues, "Staying out of the nether can be dangerous for a newer Shadow Knight. If you stay out for too long, the nether will start calling you back. You start to feel the pull; it creeps into your thoughts, and, slowly, it'll be the only thing you think about, it's the answer to all your problems."

I hold his hand tighter. "Did... that happen to you, V?"

"I... yes. At one point."

"So, Laurance is... homesick? Is there any way for us to help?" Aphmau asks, worry in her eyes.

Vylad shakes his head. "No. He needs to work through this on his own. He is his own worst enemy. Any involvement and he will think you are the one to blame, which is one of the reasons why I'm keeping Y/n and I a secret - I told him to cut off his emotions, but if he knows I'm feeling the most powerful emotion of all with my best friend, he might think I betrayed him." Vylad turns to me. "Which is another reason why I avoided you... I'm really sorry, N/n."

"It's okay, Vylad, you can stop apologizing now," I tell him.

"Still, I feel horrible... when this conversation is finished, tell me what you want to hear. Something that will light those pretty ears. Honestly, I'm sick of all the insincere. Tonight, I'm gonna give all my secrets away," Vylad says for the second time today - so I know he is being truthful about all this. I'm glad, Vylad is finally opening up to me fully.

Vylad, Aphmau, Garroth, and I talk about Laurance a bit more. Vylad says that Laurance's mind is too messed up to think with logic and that we should leave him alone. Distraught, Garroth and Aphmau leave Vylad and I to discuss everything Vylad wanted to tell me - his secrets.

"Y/n, when we first remet at... these gates, actually, I stayed up all night trying to figure out what made you forget about me. It even crossed my mind that you weren't actually Y/n, but F/n, but I knew that wasn't true - I'd recognize that smile from a mile away. In the end, I just figured that I was just that insignificant in your life, so you had forgotten me completely.

"It hurt... a lot... but, I couldn't tell you. I was so afraid that you wouldn't believe me, and reject me. There was even a point where I wanted to spill everything, but I didn't. My Shadow Knight side told me not to. Then, there's the stuff with the death threat and everything..." Vylad sighs. "That was so long ago... but I still remember it. How I said I was going to kill you because you wanted to go to O'khasis... I beat myself up over that, too.

"And, finally, when you had that dream of Garroth, Zane, and I, I may not have shown it, but I was incredibly happy. When I told you who I was I felt like this weight was lifted off my shoulders, like everything was put into perspective. Heck, I wanted to tell you that I loved you right then and there but... my Shadow Knight side stopped me.

"Y/n, when you told me you loved me, it was like a dream come true. When you comforted me, I thought I was going to heaven, and you were my angel. All in all, you being here really affected how I am as a person, and I couldn't thank you enough. I love you so, SO much. I promise, I'll be most honest person in the world to you, okay?"

I nod, smiling. "Thank you, Vylad, for opening up to me about your emotions. I love you more than ever!"

Vylad grins. "You'll love me more after I give you this..." He reaches into his pants pocket to pull out a small box, then hands it to me. "Here, open it."

I open it to find a ring that had two hearts on it that are our favourite colors.

(Pretend the purple heart is your favourite color)

"V-V..." (<- That kinda looks like a face when I look at it long enough lol) I mutter, slipping it on.

"It's a promise ring. I have one too," Vylad says, kissing the ring on my finger. "So, whenever you look at this ring, remember: I promise to never hurt you again, and to always be truthful."

"Thank you so much, Vylad... it's beautiful."

And he leans in to give me a kiss.

A/n: Vylad loves you, and so do I.

It's almost Forgotten's one year anniversary, and it's highly probable that this book won't be done by then 😂

Still, I can't believe this book has been going on for so long... this is such an important book to me as well, since I've gotten so much positive feedback from this. This is my first book of 1k reads, and hopefully the first of many more to come, heh! I am extremely glad that this book is such an important part of my life as of now. Thank you all for taking me on such a fun journey, and inspiring me to continue on!

Hope you enjoyed~
