Chapter Twenty-Two
Standing all alone on the edge of the cliff on the beach, Ichimatsu let the wind ruffle his hair as he let out a loud exasperated sigh.
Once again, Jyushimatsu could be heard in the distance, yelling out numbers as he swung his bat around.
There was not a single negative thing that Ichimatsu could possible say about Jyushimatsu, yet he still hated his guts.
He was annoying. A pest. An innocent angel who was following around a pile of trash.
Ichimatsu peeked over the edge of the cliff, his heart in his throat as he inched closer to the edge.
"Should I do it? It's for the best, isn't it? There's nobody here to stop me! If I jumped, my worries would end. Nobody would be able to drag me here and there, hoping that it will keep my thoughts away. You can only distract garbage for so long. My thoughts are louder than words will ever be. It's like someone is constantly screaming at me, 'JUMP ALREADY'. But then, there's this quiet voice in my mind. Barely audible over the screams. Yet, I can still hear it. It sounds a lot like Jyushimatsu...the happy little angel who won't get out of my life. He just keeps saying, 'Please stay just a few more seconds'. Just seconds. Seconds..." Ichimatsu said, taking a deep breath.
If he moved forward anymore, his body would hit the water. And just like that, he would drown.
"What should I do? What should I do..." Ichimatsu asked himself.
"Just jump already!" an angry voice seemed to scream from behind Ichimatsu.
And to Ichimatsu's surprise, when he turned around, it was Jyushimatsu.
"If you really hate being given second chances in life SO MUCH...just die! I would much rather wait for you to wake up than to have to watch you do everything in life so coldheartedly!" Jyushimatsu cried.
"Then it's settled..." Ichimatsu mumbled, walking towards Jyushimatsu.
Jyushimatsu's eyes brightened with joy, but quickly turned to sadness again when Ichimatsu turned back around, running to the edge of the cliff.
Shoes off, Ichimatsu leaped off the edge of the cliff, falling faster than he had expected to.
"Nii-san!" Jyushimatsu yelled.
Ichimatsu's body hit the rough, unforgiving waves.
Choking, he was surprised to find that he was still alive.
"Just don't try to swim..." Ichimatsu thought, yet his arms flailed around, trying to stay above the water. "Nobody cares if you're alive or dead. Jyushimatsu said so himself!"
And just like that, Ichimatsu made his body as heavy as possible.
The waves washed over his head as he left his mouth wide open, allowing buckets of sea water to pour through his mouth.
Ichimatsu awoke, chills running down his spine.
