Chapter Four

Ichimatsu walked down the aisle at the convenience store that contained the one thing he never thought he would find himself buying. Vodka.

As he walked up to the counter to make his purchase, he saw Jyushimatsu walking down the street, making his way towards the Cat Cafe. More guilt.

A knot twisted in Ichimatsu's stomach as he walked back to the alleyway, hoping nobody would notice him at all. Even though he didn't look the least bit suspicious, just knowing Jyushimatsu was actually looking for him scared him. It was almost like Jyushimatsu was a police officer.

- Several hours later -

Ichimatsu snapped his eyes open. His bottle of Vodka was lying on the ground beside him, completely empty. He hadn't realized he had passed out from the alcohol. And from the way the sky looked, he had been out all afternoon.

Stumbling to his feet, Ichimatsu leaned up against the brick alleyway wall, letting out a loud satanic laugh. He put his hand over one of his eyes, laughing even more loudly.

His heart pounded harder and harder as he grew extremely lightheaded. He continued to laugh until a sudden wave of nausea washed over him. Bending over, Ichimatsu puked on the dirt ground.

He heaved and retched as he put his hands on his knees, panting and trembling like a sick animal.

"Tch..." Ichimatsu mumbled, spitting on the ground after the nausea quickly passed.

His stomach growled loudly as he stepped over the liquid pile of whitish vomit on the ground.

The thought of eating seemed nice, but then again, he had just vomited.

"Would I even be able to keep anything down?" he thought, walking out of the alleyway and down the street. "Probably not...but does that matter? No. Nothing matters anymore. I don't even know who I am anymore. How can that even happen? Things like that only happen when you have amnesia..."

Ichimatsu angrily kicked a soda can on the ground, causing it to bounce off the brick wall to a building.

"Just the way those five idiots look at me makes me angry. It's like pure shock mixed with joy and sadness. How the heck can that even be one emotion? It probably isn't one...but it's all in their eyes, and it makes me want to kill them. I hate Jyushimatsu and those other four with him. I hate Kanola too. I hate everyone who acts like they know me. They don't! Nobody knows who I am..."

"Hey! Ichimatsu!" Kanloa yelled, waving her arms in the air from across the street. "Where the heck have you been?! Jyushimatsu was looking for you!"

Ichimatsu pretended to not hear Kanola. He continued to walk with his eyes focused on the pavement.

"Ichimatsu!" Kanola yelled even more loudly.

Ichimatsu still didn't look up to acknowledge her existence.

"Ichimatsu where are you going?!" Kanola screamed, running across the busy street.

Ichimatsu jerked his head up angrily and jerked around to face Kanola.

"What the heck do you want?!" Ichimatsu spat bitterly.

"Jyushimatsu was nearly in tears when he couldn't find you! Where have you been all afternoon?! It's nearly closing time for the cafe now!" Kanola gasped, leaning over to catch her breath like she always did.

"That's all? Well I honestly don't give a crap about...Jyushimatsu. Leave me alone. And tell him to do the same," Ichimatsu mumbled, continuing to walk away.

"Wait!" Kanola said firmly, jerking her head up, staring at Ichimatsu. "Why don't you come to the cafe for dinner tonight? You won't have to pay since you work there! I'll invite Jyushimatsu to come too. Then maybe you two can catch up on the time you lost this afternoon!"

"What the heck do you mean by 'time lost'?" Ichimatsu spat, "If anything, I had a much better time without the two of you nagging me to death!"

"Ichimatsu I swear..." Kanola sighed, shaking her head. "You really don't understand. You're no adult to me. You're still a mere child." She grabbed the sleeve of Ichimatsu's hoodie firmly, jerking him towards her. "You're going to the cafe for dinner wether you like it or not! I'm not having you aimlessly wandering around, scavenging for food tonight! I know you're up to no good, Ichimatsu. I won't be letting you out of my sight until I feel it's safe."

"I'm not your child, Kanola," Ichimatsu mumbled, but didn't object to her.

"But you're foolish," Kanola replied firmly, dragging him across the street. "And foolish people don't need to ever be left alone."
