Imagine this, a blocky world, filled with fresh scented pine trees and the shimmering of an upcoming sun, signifying a brand new day, with two villages and a big kingdom out in the horizon, but wait, we aren't focused on the kingdom and other village, yet.

On a tall cliff at the side of a mountain, stood a small, brown fuzzy, no, furry creature who was staring at the large sun with it's big, round eyes.

That right there, was a bacca.

You'd normally hear many people tell many tales about them, how viscous and terrifying they are, but all the Baccas thought of all that as complete madness.

Now that little bacca's name is Jerome, and never understood those myths or ever heard of them before.

Perhaps it was because he was still a small child, and he wasn't ready to hear things like that. He might have overheard his parents talk about it, but still questions it.

As the sun slowly came up, Jerome was in deep thought, all until he heard, "Jerome."

He turned around and saw his mother, who was kindly smiling at him, signifying him to go back into the cave, in other words, their home.

"Oh hi mom, hey, do you know where dad is?" Jerome asks his mother with delight, following her inside the cave.

He had just remembered that his father promised to take him out to teach him how to hunt. Thinking about that made him even more excited than he usually was.

Suddenly, his mother frowned and answers, "I'm sorry Jerome, but he went out to hunt on his own."

Jerome's anticipation quickly vanished, and felt sadness and disappointment instead.

"But, he promised he would take me with him to teach me how to hunt!" Jerome protested. Jerome never questioned his dad's doings, but he didn't understand why his father wouldn't take him out to hunt when he promised it.

"Jerome, prey is scarce at these times, especially if we are against the kingdom right now and we are sharing the forest with another village, we all need food, and we have to find it first before they do." His mother answers scoffing at the word 'kingdom'.

Jerome tilted his head at this action. What was wrong with the kingdom? Why did the whole bacca community and the other village nearby hate them?

"Mom?" Jerome asks intently.

"Yes Jerome?" His mother answers looking down at him.

"Why do we hate the kingdom so much? What did they do to us?" Jerome asks curiously. It was that question that he always wanted to ask since the first time he eavesdropped on a conversation about the kingdom.

"Come sit on my lap Jerome." Jerome's mother says sitting on a wooden chair and tapping her lap with her hand.

Jerome's ears perked up and he sat on his mother's lap, looking up at her intently.

"Well, it all started like this.." Jerome's mother began.

"There were four villages, we were all peaceful together, we were village number three, another village which never interrupts and fights with us is village number two, the kingdom was village number one, and village number four doesn't exist anymore."

Jerome's eyes widened, what did she mean when she said that village number four doesn't exist anymore? But he didn't interrupt, so his mother kept going.

"I'll get to that later don't worry Jerome." His mother says, noticing Jerome's questioning look.

"Anyway, we were separated in four different areas, that is, until village number four stepped out of their boundary and hunted on village number one's hunting grounds. This became a huge conflict and the four villages had a meeting, and village number four protested that they didn't have much prey on their grounds, so that winter, village number four and number one went into war. Unluckily, village number four lost to village number one, and they executed and or took all the villagers from their home, made them slaves, took all their ground, and made a kingdom. Both us and the other village didn't intrigue. But all of a sudden, the kingdom wants to take both of our lands, either by force or peacefully, but both of us are reluctant about it, that's why we hate the kingdom." Jerome's mother says looking down at him.

All of a sudden, Jerome didn't feel safe anymore, he felt frightened instead. He didn't want to give his land away to the treacherous kingdom.

"Don't worry Jerome, as long as we are all together, we'll all be fine." Jerome's mother says hugging Jerome.

Jerome smiles and hugs his mother back, but he was still uncomfortable about the story his mother just told him.

Then a small urge came to him, if there WAS a war, he wanted to help out, so they would win.

Maybe if he practiced fighting, he would be helpful, and feel more secure.

"Mom, can I go outside and....play with my bacca friends?" Jerome asks, feeling bad that he just lied to his mother.

"Yeah sure, but be careful, don't come out of the boundary." Jerome's mother says.

After that sentence, Jerome hopped off of his mother's lap and ran outside.

He looked around at his own mountain village. All of the baccas were out, chatting with one another and the baccas that were Jerome's age, were running around and looking at the river intently, searching for tasty raw fish.

Jerome felt his stomach grumble, but he paid no attention to it.

Right when he was going to set a foot into the forest, "Hey Jerome, where are you going?" He hears a voice ask.

Jerome winces and turns around, to face Robert, one of his father's friends.

"Oh, uh, I was playing hide and seek with my friends, and, I was planning to go hide in the forest." Jerome answers smiling innocently.

Robert began chuckling and answers, "Oh you little baccas these days, alright, see you later Jerome."

Jerome nodded, and ran towards the pine scented, dark green forest
