*Tony's POV*

Shitshitshit...

I can't handle this. I just can't!

Any of us could've died from this. The radiation on it could've just- melted our fucking faces! It could've blown up. Pepper could've died! The whole team and myself just risked our lives for some theory. For a plan that has a 98% chance of not working!

Oh god, oh god. What if my kid comes out just like me? A self sacrificing asshole?

My mind raced with scenarios and I began to hyperventilate. I carded a stressed hand through my hair, trying to blink the tears away.

Please don't have a panic attack, Please don't have a panic attack

"Shit, shit, shit."

"Tony?" I jumped at the sound of Pepper's voice. With wide, glassy eyes, I stared at her.

She stood in the doorway of our bedroom. When did I get here? By the looks of it, I had been pacing in front of the bed...

As I looked down, I noticed my hands were sweaty and shaking.

"Pep I-I..." I squeezed my hands into balls to make the shaking less noticeable. "Tony," she paused for a moment "It's gonna be ok."

Her voice coaxed more tears to well up in my eyes. I swallowed hard, shaking my head. "I don't know about that Pep. I-I don't know how I let this happen. A goddamn kid died and it's all my fault-"

"Tony please! It's not your fault. You couldn't control any of this!"

"He's- I got my hopes up when I shouldn't have. I should've known something like this could never work. A time machine Pepper! How could I be that fucking stupid!" "Because you wanted to bring everyone back, Peter most of all." Her hands cupped the side of my head. "I amongst all the others know you want to bring him back the most. That you'd be willing to do anything for that boy's survival."

"It shouldn't have been him..." I muttered, trying to ignore the broken voice crack that sounded from the back of my throat.

"I know you think that Tony. But our child growing inside me right now, will need you. We're going to be a family. And if the others find another way to get everyone back, than you'll have both your kids. It'll be fine. We're going to figure this out."

"...I want to move."

"Wait what?" "I want to move away from here. Somewhere more comfortable. Homey." "Tony this is our home." "I know but... do we really want our kid to grow up around... all this? Listen. Anyone could've died today from that machine. The radiation could've-" I cut myself off.

"I don't want to risk loosing them. We need to get away from the city." "I know. We won't loose them. We'll look around, ok? See if we find something." "Yeah. That would be great," I said, letting myself smile. 

Her thumb caressed my cheek as she pressed her lips against mine. "Seriously. We're going to figure this out. We'll Look for a house and just wing it."

"Perfect."

"Oh also... I just got back from the doctors office."

My heart stopped.

"It's a girl."
