“Ashley, there is another truckload of your stuff in the attic!!” My mother said, poking her head into my room; she frowned at me as she took in the messy state of my room and gave me a stern look before walking off making disapproving noises. I rolled my eyes and sighed. My mother! Always the drama queen. Throwing the pile of photo frames I was sorting through into the cardboard box in front of me I tried to make my way out of my room and promptly smashed into a few boxes. Huffing I kicked a few boxes out of my way before I managed to escape the obstacle course that had consumed my room.

Running a hand through my hair, I looked back at the pile of boxes lying around and sighed in defeat. I didn't know how I got so much stuff left in here still; I thought I had moved everything out during college. My vision started to blur as my mind drift off to the days of my high school life… the time when I was still a carefree, happy-go-lucky person…

“Ashley! Go up to the attic now!” my mother’s voice dragged me out of my reverie. Sighing I muttered a response and headed towards the attic; I was supposed to move into my new apartment all the way in New York tomorrow so my mum wanted me to clear all my stuff in the house before I go. But I was starting to doubt that I would ever finish packing.

New York. A new life, a chance to start over 4,490.4 km from him.

I took a deep breath and shook myself. I promised myself not to think about him anymore. I need to forget him and move on.

Not that it's easy to forget him with his face plaster in billboards and TV everywhere. But I have to try.

“Go and clear out your stuff!” My mother screamed for the third time, she knew me too well. I couldn't resist the urge to roll my eyes again.

“I am getting there.” I shouted back at my mum before climbing up the creaky staircase up to the attic.

Opening the door I was literally choked by the amount of dust inside the attic. It felt like no one had been in there for years. Mum probably just wanted to use me moving as an excuse to get me up here and tidy the place. I tried to fan off the dust circulating around and headed towards the pile of stuff in the corner. There weren't as many of them as my mum made out; about ten of them of various sizes scattered around labeled with my name. I sighed and sat down on the floor in front of them, rolling up my sleeves. Better keep my mother happy.

I ripped open the nearest box and peered inside it. I squint at the content of the box as my eyes adjusted to the dark.

As I got a better look of the content inside the box, I felt a lump developed in my throat. I forgot that I put them here.

Pulling out the once-familiar hoodie inside the box, running my hands through the red-white fabric with the letter L.H. engraved on it. His initials. I hugged it close to me and sniffed it, surprised but quite happy to smell that familiar scent of him.

Despite the hesitation of thinking about him, something in the back of my mind compelled me and I reached my hand out into the box again.

The next thing that came up was a photo of me and him in the Summer Carnival, his arms around my waist and I was hugging a giant teddy bear, smiling happily into the camera. I couldn't remember the last time I was this happy. This brought a smile on my face, albeit a sad one.

Looking around I spotted the biggest cardboard box on my right and I pulled it over to my side. Ripping it opened I found the teddy bear in the picture inside, tugging it out I hold on to it as tight as I could, burying my face into its soft fur, feeling my body shivering from the memories, I let my mind drifted back.

“Leo!” I squealed, tugging at Leo's shirt sleeves excitedly and pointing towards the Ferris wheels at the other side of the carnival and tugged his sleeves. Leo squinted at the Ferris wheels and let out a pretended sigh with his left hand hovering over my head and tried to ruffle my hair. I dodged his attempt and gave him a light slap on the arm.

“Don't mess with my hair!” I said, pouting at him. Leo laughed and I could felt my heart melting at that sound. I still couldn't believe that we are going out, it all felt like a dream. I mean, he is the hottest, most talented guy in school. And he, of all people, is interested in me.

“Come on babe, let's go and get the party started!” Leo said with a mock country accent, putting his arm around my shoulder and pulling me next to him tightly and kissing the top of my head. My heart skipped a beat in giddiness and I put my arm around his waist as we walked down the lane. I could feel the envious glares from all the girls we walked past, but I no longer felt troubled by them; I have gotten used to that over the past few months.

“Aw, look at that cute teddy bear.” I said, stopping as I spotted a giant brown teddy bear hanging on the hook of one of the stall. I looked down the stall and saw that it was one of those with three cans and you have to shoot at. Leo followed my line of vision and smiled.

“Alright, your wish is my command”' Leo said, tightening his arm around my waist and marched straight towards the stall.

“No Leo, you don't have to do that.” I said immediately, trying to pull him back to our route. But he was stronger and dragged me back towards the stall.

“It's going to cost like, at least 50 bucks to get that bear.” I whispered to him furiously as we approached the stall, tugging at his sleeve all the while. “Let's just go.”

Leo shook his head at me and smiled his crooked smile at me; one that I had learned to recognized as his determined smile and walked straight to the stall owner, whose face brighten up visibly as he saw us approach.

“Hello there fellow, want to shoot some cans to get your pretty girlfriend there a prize?” He said with a heavy country accent. I blushed at the word girlfriend. I still had trouble believing that I was Leo Hartmann's girlfriend.

“Sure thing.” Leo said, handing the stall owner ten bucks for five shoots at the cans.

I crossed my arms over my chest to show Leo that I wasn't happy with this. But his just looked back and smiled at me giving me a wink. I gave him a weak smile to let him know that I wasn't mad. How could I ever be mad at him?

The first shot was completely out of range and I couldn't help but laughed. Leo glanced back to give me a mock hurt look. The next two shots weren’t perfect but they got a lot closer to the targets. He only had two shots left so he still had a chance of getting a small prize.

He shot the can pyramid at the side and they wobbled, and another shot at the bottom can but it didn't fall.

“Come on Leo.” I said; pulling my hands out of my pockets and gesturing to him for us to go. But he shook his head at him and paid for another round.

I rolled my eyes as Leo pull up the rifle, and shot right in the middle of the cans causing them all to roll down the shelf.

My eyes widened in disbelieve, although not as much as the store owner. He gave a bit of a dramatic sigh and took the giant teddy bear I was eying down from the rack and handed it to Leo.

“Well, here is the prize. Glad you good looking couples are the one that win.” He said, giving me a wink. My face immediately turned into the colour of a beetroot while Leo laughed good-naturally.

“Here you go.” Leo said, handing me the teddy bear. A smile stretched on my face all on its own as I receive the teddy bear and hugging it close to me.

“You really didn't have to do this...” I said, trailing off and burying my face in the teddy bear's fur. Leo smiled and kissed me out of the blue, then leaned down and whispered in my left ear.

“I'll do anything for you.”

A shiver of pleasure cruised down my spine and I could feel my face tingling all over starting from where his breath blew on my ear. Leo made me feel in ways that no one ever could. It was like the world was brighter, more dynamic.

Jolting out of my flash back I rested my head on the teddy, the back of my eyes warm from tears pickling in my eye. Letting a stray tear escape my eye, rolling down the side of my face and eventually absorbed into the teddy bear's fur.

Whipping my eyes on my sleeves I took a deep breath to calm myself down from my overwhelming emotions. Every time I think of Leo, this happens. So over the years I had learn to block him out of my memories, but it's been so long that I guess I just kind of forgotten about that and let my guard down.

Grabbing hold of the teddy bear I trotted down the stairs and back into my room. Placing the teddy delicately on a clean corner of my bed I ignored the state of my room and turned my laptop on.

I tapped my foot impatiently as I waited for my laptop to boot, scrolling the contacts on my phone looking for a certain someone's number.

I opened my internet browser and the news on my homepage confirmed what I wanted to find out. He is here.

Spotting what I was looking for I quickly pressed dial before I chickened out. The phone rang three times before the person on the other end received the call. Sooner than I expected.

“Hello, who is this?” the familiar voice asked, I bite my tongue, not sure if I could trust myself to speak. “Ashley, is that you?”

Oh crap, how did he know it was me?

“Yes, it's me, Ryan.” I replied, my voice sounding a lot calmer than I ever thought I could when concerning him.

“I never thought I would hear from you again.” Ryan said; his voice pleasantly surprised. “What's up?”

What's up? There were so many answers to this question. None of it I want to admit.

“I am good. Thanks.” I said, before cutting straight to the chase “You are in town, right?”

“Yeah, are you in town too?” He asked, sounding surprised; he didn't even bother asking how do I know where he was. Everyone knew he was always with Leo, so wherever Leo was, Ryan would be there.

“Yeah, I am leaving in two days, can we meet up?” I worked up courage and asked, heart beating fast and expecting him to say no. After all he was an important somebody now.

“Of course, I can only do tomorrow afternoon though.” He said. “Let's meet at the cafe we always hang out in, yeah?”

“See you tomorrow.” I said to the phone, my voice a whisper and I heard the call disconnected.
