+Epilogue+
I grabbed my keys off of the counter.
"I'm headed out," I told my mom who was sitting at the dining room table.
"You're staying at the Thomas's this weekend?" she asked.
I nodded. "Yeah. I'll be home Sunday night and I have my cellphone with me plus it's not like you don't know the home phone or where it is..."
"And you'll be sleeping in the guest room... and Ket won't be...?"
I rolled my eyes. "Of course, Mom."
"And remember, we're visiting your Aunt Tam on Sunday once you're home," my mom reminded me.
"Any news on her condition? Any improvement?" I questioned.
"You can check with Jarod once you get to the Thomas's, but as far as I know there have been no changes. She's perfectly healthy and there's no reason she should still be asleep but... I know she'll wake up in her own time, though. She'll wake up when she's ready."
I nodded. "You're right. Aunt Tam is strong. She'll wake up soon."
"By the way, before you go, do you know where your brother is?" my mom asked.
I rolled my eyes. "He's out hanging out with Josey. Apparently Josey is teaching Reed how to pick up girls."
My mom sighed. "Oh lord."
I laughed. "I know, right?"
Josey and Reed had quickly become good friends and because of that, Reed had started to warm up to Ket and they were now pretty good friends. I gave my mom a quick kiss and headed out of the kitchen.
"See you soon," I called.
Just as he always was, Ket was waiting in his car in the driveway for me, right on time. I slid into the passengers seat.
"Guess what," Ket demanded.
"Okay: what?"
"Jackson got community service time."
I nodded. "Good. Maybe he'll even actually learn something."
Ket scoffed. "Probably not. It was all thanks to Braum, though, that the charges went through."
"Oh. . .Braum? Were you talking to him recently?"
Another odd thing that had happened recently was that Braum and Ket had become friends. Ket had divulged to me that Braum had had feelings for me all along- which I had suspected, especially after my talk with Cris- and ever since things had been strange between us. I wanted us to be able to just be friends, but I also didn't want to push him. At this point, I was just waiting for Braum to make a move one way or the other. It was up to him now whether or not we became friends again.
"Yeah, I was. I promise you that he did honestly mean to call you. He wants to get coffee soon. He's just had a lot of stress at work lately because they have some big new case at the station. Apparently it's something about a case of stalking or something."
"Oh, that sucks. I hope he contacts me soon, though," I replied, rolling my lip into my mouth.
Ket gave my knee a quick squeeze before returning his hand to the wheel. "Of course he will. No one can resist you, Rolland Gessman."
I grinned. I couldn't believe how lucky I was. Nothing was perfect- my aunt was still in a coma, there were still several holes in my memory, Reed still had to be extremely careful, especially since only one of his lungs was replaced, and although he was now fully recovered, there was still a chance the other could collapse and I was having troubles with one of my best friends- but I also had so much to be thankful for. I had incredible friends like Josey and Cris- who were also incredibly cute together, I had my family back, I had a new, adoptive family whom I loved very much and I had Ket. We weren't official yet at all, but I was okay with that. We were taking it slow and one step at a time. We were just enjoying our time together and our chance to create as many lasting memories as possible, and I had absolutely no objection to the making of amazing memories.
