"May I come in?"

Jungkook chimed while giving two knocks on the door.

"Come in please," a very sweet voice chimed back.

Entering inside the room, Jungkook was momentarily traumatized.

The room was a mess with toys and stuffs scattered here and there.

He groaned.

"Where is the owner of this little messy room?"

"Here," a very small hand poked out from the other side of the bed and waved, letting Jungkook know her whereabouts.

Jungkook walked there with furrowed brows, hands on each side of his hip. Reaching there, he gasped loudly.

"My baby, what are you doing on the floor? You'll catch cold!"

The small girl with long black hair was too concentrated into reading the thing in her hand that she never heard her father's plea.

"Papa, who's Taehyung?"

Taehyung. Taetae.

The name along was enough to make him revisit all the memories. Memories that were both sweet and bitter.

Sweet memories, that belonged to him and his Taetae.

Bitter ones, that made him aware of his Taetae's pain. His loving Taetae had to go through so much pain and he was clueless.

Jungkook smiled bitterly when he remembered how Taehyung made him promise to read the diaries on his twenty fifth birthday.

Jungkook never disobeyed Taehyung and he didn't disobey him then too. He read the diaries exactly on his twenty fifth birthday as soon as the clock struck to twelve.

He read each page and felt the pain building in his heart. He read both diaries and understood what Taehyung and his sister felt for each other.

He cried hard while reading them on his birthday night. He cried so hard but there was no one to lend him a shoulder. He understood then how loneliness felt. He understood how his Taetae felt.

"Papa! Earth to papa!"

A small hand tugged at his shirt, making him snap out of his trail of thoughts.

"Jeon Noeul, why did you touch my cupboard again? I forbade you, didn't I?"

Jungkook huffed. The little girl pouted cutely.

"But papa it's not fair! You keep reading this diary hiding from Noeul and papa is not allowed to hide anything from his Noeul," she replied huffing in return.

Jungkook chuckled. He could never stay mad at her. One look at her adorable face was enough to melt his heart. Jungkook carried and settled her on his lap while he sat on the bed.

"Papa wasn't hiding it, baby. You're just too small to understand what's written in it," Jungkook explained, caressing his daughter's head.

"I'm sorry papa, I was just curious." Noeul replied pouting ever so cutely and playing with her father's hair.

"And curiosity kills the cat," he reminded.

"Here's the catch papa, Noeul is not a cat!"

Her eyes lit up while doing the revelation. Looking at her ever so lovingly, Jungkook chuckled.

"Oh really? Come here you cute little fluff doll," saying so he started to tickle her. The tickling competition was getting furious by time.

"Papa, stop! No tickles!"

The room was filled with sounds of giggling from the pair of father and daughter.

After awhile, when they both got tired from all those laughing and tickling, they laid on the bed facing the ceiling.

"Papa, now tell me who was he?"

Noeul asked still panting from the furious tickle fight.

Jungkook's lips curved into a small smile. Still staring at the ceiling, he replied to his daughter's questions.

"He was Kim Taehyung. My Taetae. My brother, my friend, my life."

"Life became quite lonely when he left. But then after some years I met your mother. Life started to become less lonely and now.."

"Now what papa?" She asked searching for her father's eyes.

"Now I have you. The moon in my dark sky and I'm no more lonely. But yes I still miss him. A lot. That is why I read his diary to feel his existence around me, to feel a little less hurt. Just like my Taetae used to do."

He said finally looking and smiling at her. Noeul was small but she saw her papa was hurting.

She hugged him tight saying, "It's okay, papa. Tell me where you're having pain. I'll put an ointment and band aid on it."

Jungkook smiled pecking his daughter's hair.

"You're already doing it, my baby. You're my band aid like I was my Taetae's."

They laid there to relax for sometime. With Noeul playing with her doll in his arm, he stared outside the window watching the sunset and getting lost in his own thoughts.

"Noeul," he called her name.

"Hmm," she replied playing with her father's hair now.

"When you'll grow up and your heart will be able to understand what love is, find a man like my Taetae."

"As you wish, papa." She replied mindlessly.

"It's a promise?" He asked for assurance.

She looked at him curiously. He looked at her lovingly. She sighed shaking her head side to side. Jungkook laughed.

"Okay, it's a promise papa."

"You better follow your promise because I'm going to mark this day and going to remind you this on every year."

She hummed.

"Noeul, I think we should get up and clean the room. It's getting dark and your mom is going to come back soon from her friend's house. She's so going to scold me for this."

"Just give her a long popo like always papa and she'll melt and become a tomato."

Noeul shrugged. Jungkook's eyes rounded.

He couldn't believe Noeul still remembered that one time when he and his loving wife almost made out in front of her and how spotting Noeul, his wife became flustered and her face became red resembling a tomato.

"Noeul, my baby. Don't ever ever mention that in front of your mom, okay? Is papa clear? Now let's go and clean our room!"

"Okay papa, let's go!"

That day a promise was made. A promise which held no meaning for naive little Noeul.

But who knew the future?
