Chapter Ten: Love?
Moxie jumped out of the water with a fish in her mouth. Xayli smiled as gave her an approving growl. "Good job! You learn fast!" He laughed. Moxie grinned and purred at him after she'd put the fish down. "I know! Who knew it was so easy?" She giggled. She shook water off her wings. Being a dragon was just what she'd always wanted in life. But she knew her father probably missed her. A lot. She sighed. "Xayli, after we're finished with what I need to learn today, can we go and find my father? I want to show him that I'm okay." She said. Xayli nodded. "Of course we can. But I'm going to warn you, he might think you're trying to eat him." Moxie sighed with amusement even though she knew Xayli was right.
"I think fishing is down pat, so lemme show you something that only Lightfuries can do." Xayli said, taking off into the air. Moxie quickly swallowed down the fish she'd caught and followed him. When they were high in the air, Xayli fired a plasma blast. Moxie squealed with surprise and excitement. Was she going to do that!? Xayli smiled at her. "Come on, try it. Focus, and just force it out." He instructed. Moxie focused...she drew in a breath...she felt a burning sensation in her throat and suddenly a blast of purple plasma shot from her jaws and exploded a few feet in front of her. "Fly through it!" Xayli shouted excitedly. Moxie tucked in her wings and did so. When she opened her eyes, she saw she was virtually invisible. "XAYLI!" She squealed. "Cool, right?" Xayli asked. "YES!!" Moxie roared. She fired several blasts, which sounded like fireworks. Xayli laughed. He liked seeing her happy. He stopped to ask himself why he felt this way. Why he felt like Moxie was....perfect.
Moxie reappeared and looked over at Xayli with round, adorable pupils. She grinned. Xayli grinned back. This was so much fun. Xayli growled happily. "You want to go and find your father now?" He asked. Moxie was quiet for a second. No. She really just wanted to stay here with Xayli. But she could not just leave her father thinking she was dead. "Yes, please." She said. The two dragons began ascending up towards the entrance to the Hidden World. Moxie began imagining her father's face, shocked terrified, anything but happy. Hopefully, she'd be able to quickly change that.

Astrid heard wingbeats as she sat in a boat just a little ways off from the Hidden World. She could see where the water suddenly dropped off. Rocks jutted out of the sea around the edge of the huge opening. As she watched, two wanted figures came out. She gasped. A Nightfury and a Lightfury! The dragons were flying in her direction. Soon, they would be on top of her. She got a strange feeling. Could that dragon, the Lightfury, be who she was looking for? She waved her arms around. "Moxie! Moxie, is that you?" She called.

Moxie saw a boat, with a familiar woman waving her arms. The woman was calling her name. Moxie gasped. "Hey! I know that Viking! It's Astrid! She's the one who did this to me!" She said to Xayli. Xayli looked into her eyes. "Do you want to talk to her?" He asked. Moxie nodded. "Yes - yes. If she knows who I am, then she can explain it to my father. That will clear up a lot of trouble." She said. Xayli smiled. "Then let's say hi." The dragons dove for the boat. Astrid looked a little surprised. When the two landed, she seemed a little timid. "Moxie?" She asked. Moxie nodded. Xayli laid down and calmly spectated. "It's me." Moxie said, even though Astrid only heard dragon sounds. Astrid sighed. "Moxie, I'm so, so sorry, I didn't think about what I was doing... I want to make it right." She said. Moxie laid her ears down flat. She wants to change me back. "I forgive you, Astrid. I thank you. Never in my life have I felt so...so meant to be!" She said, but Astrid still heard dragon sounds, so to show her what she meant Moxie went and nuzzled her.
"Y-you're not mad?" Astrid asked, dumbfounded. Moxie shook her head. Astrid pulled out the potion she'd made. "This will change you back." She explained. Moxie looked out to the sea. My father...my friends... She looked at Xayli. My love. It felt strange actually saying that in her mind, but she realized it was true from the moment she thought it. She looked at Astrid. She looked at the potion.
And shook her head no.
Astrid's eyes widened. "What?" Moxie stepped back, becoming more confident in her decision. She shook her head again. Astrid stared her dead in the eyes. "You... don't want to go back?" She asked so quietly only dragon ears could hear. Moxie shook her head yet again. Astrid approached her, putting the potion away. "Your father is losing his mind. He wants to know you're okay, Moxie. He wants you to come home." She explained. Moxie produced a short purr and sat down on the deck. Astrid took a moment to figure out what she was saying. "You're...gonna...." She started. She shrugged. "Okay. Let's go." She decided. Moxie smiled. "And my friend is coming, right?" She asked. Astrid just heard a short roar, but knew it was a question. Xayli lifted his head. Astrid stared at Moxie. Moxie gestured towards the Nightfury. Astrid smiled a little. "Your friend?" Moxie nodded vigorously. Astrid chuckled. "He can come, too." She said. Xayli looked at Moxie a little surprised. "You want me to come?" He asked. Moxie nodded. "Yes. You're my new friend. I want my father to meet you." She replied.
She wants to introduce me!? Xayli felt his face get hot. And the way she'd looked at him when she'd said no to the potion that would send her back to her old life... And why did he feel like he was supposed to be approved of to be near Moxie?
