Chapter Eight: A Special Meeting With the King
Xayli led Moxie to many other beautiful places in the Hidden World. She loved them and kept smiling at him every time he spoke. He secretly admired her shimmering scales that reflected teal and violet when the light hit them a certain way. He'd only known Moxie for a few hours and already he liked her -- a lot. She had told him of her father and her friends and of the chief of Berk, Hiccup, who was Toothless's rider some years ago. He'd listened to every word. Now the two were flying over the sea, outside of the Hidden World. The cool night air was refreshing. Moxie gazed blankly at the water. "Hiccup's wife did this to me. At first I wasn't sure if I was supposed to be mad, but now I'm almost greatful. This day has been the best west day if my life." She said.
"The very best?" Xayli asked, smirking at the way she'd worded that. "Yes. The very best worst day of my life." Moxie replied, smiling. This dragon was like her -- adventurous and goofy. "I like being a Lightfury. But I also miss my father and being able to communicate with humans." She said. Xayli said nothing. That had to be a hard feeling to feel, being torn between a creature you loved being and being a creature your father loved you being. Another dragon flew towards them from behind. He stopped them, and all three hovered over the water. The dragon was a Nightlight. He had blue eyes and was mostly black except for his feet, his belly, the tips of his ears and the tip of his nose with some more white on his wings. He looked adolescent. "Hello." He said. "I am the king's son, the eldest of his first clutch. My name is Zaphir. My father sent me to get you. He is aware of the new arrival."
"We will accompany you without resistance." Said Xayli.

Zaphir led them to a cave lined with bright crystals. Another adolescent Nightlight was at the entrance. She was mostly white with green eyes and black where Zaphir was white. "Zaphir, Mother wants you to feed the hatchlings." She said. Zaphir scowled. "It's Jax's turn!" He whined. The female Nightlight shot him a fierce look. Zaphir snorted. "Lori stop being so... whatever that is!" He said, entering the cave. "I'll lead them in, now go feed the hatchlings!" Lori growled. Zaphir reluctantly gave Moxie and Xayli up to his sister. Lori led them the rest of the way to where Toothless was laying down with his mate. The Nightfury nodded to them. "Xayli. Nice to see you." He said. Moxie remained quiet. "What's your name, newcomer?" Toothless asked her kindly. "Moxie." She replied. "Where do you come from, Moxie?" The king asked. Moxie took a breath. "You're probably not going to believe me, but..."
Moxie told the whole story. When she finished Toothless became somber. "It has been rumored that what you say is possible." He said. His mate gave them a concerned look. "I've seen it happen." She whispered. "It's not just a story. I was watching from the bushes when the sorcerer transformed himself." Toothless looked at her, shocked. "What!?" His mate nodded. Xayli politely bowed his head. "I have already instructed her on what she needs to know." He said. Toothless nodded. "Good." His mate looked Moxie in the eyes. "Do you wish to go back?" She said, almost too quiet to hear. The two Lightfuries stayed in a locked stare. "I like what I have become. If I am to stay here, I will probably be happy. But one thing draws me back -- my father." Toothless squinted. He was thinking. Finally, he spoke. "Xayli, you are to be her constant companion and bodyguard. I want her safe until we figure out what to do." He said. Xayli nodded.
Moxie stared at the floor. Her father was probably in terrible shape. But she didn't exactly want to go back. It wasn't because of the scales, or the flying, but a deep feeling within her soul...a feeling that she had always been a dragon at heart.
