Ch. 11 The Tale of the Three Brothers

Juliette sadly stared at her hands, feeling immense pain, sadness, guilt, and anger. Thus her hair turned into a grey color with some dark blue and blood-red mixed with it.

" Your biological mother must have loved you so much that she was willing to forfeit her life for you," Ragnok's voice echoed in Juliette's mind.

Juliette's gaze softened.

" It may not be similar, but at least I know my real Mummy is like Mummy Lily, who sacrificed her life for her children to keep on living," Juliette whispers as she softly grasped her hands into fists.

" I-I might as well keep on living then for their sake," Juliette lifts her head as she sadly stared at Ragnok.

Ragnok grunted in response as he held his hand out to Juliette, who accepts, and she slowly stands up.

" Would you like to know more about yourself?" Ragnok asked Juliette.

Juliette looks away from Ragnok as she turns her gaze to the family tree.

" Is it possible that I could have living relatives through my biological mother and father?" Juliette softly asked Ragnok.

" It's a possibility. Your Family tree will let you know who is alive and who is not," Ragnok informs Juliette.

Juliette nods her head in response as she turns to face the table where her family tree got laid. She takes a couple of breaths as she steps forward, and she looks down to study her family tree.

Ragnok went to stand next to Juliette as the two study her family tree.

" Interesting," Ragnok widely smirked when he sees familiar names on Juliette's family tree.

" What's interesting?" Juliette softly asked, looking and sounding confused, making her hair turn orange.

" Through your father, James Potter, you are the descendant of a Pioneer Potioner named Linfred of Stinchcombe, who then changed his name and became 'The Potterer,' after creating successful medical potions," Ragnok explained to Juliette.

Juliette turns her gaze to the family tree, seeing an image of Linfred of Stinchcombe or the Potterer.

Juliette softly smiled, feeling and looking intrigued about the ancestors that were born before her.

" Not only that, his eldest son, Hardwin Potter, a very talented Magizoolgist that specialized in Phoenix and Basilisk. He married Iolanthe Peverell, a beautiful and respectable Healer that helped her father-in-law, the Potterer, in creating many medical potions that cured many magical sicknesses," Ragnok informed Juliette.

Juliette hummed when she sees images of Hardwin Potter and Iolanthe Potter nee Peverell.

' It's good to hear that my ancestors helped saved many lives,' Juliette proudly tells herself. ' And what's cool is that I am related to someone knowledgable of Phoenix and Basilisk,' The young female excitedly smiled, causing her hair to become light blue.

Juliette then turns her gaze to Ragnok.

" A Potioneer is like a Scientist, right? And a Healer is like a doctor, correct? So, what is a Magizoolgist? Is it something related to animals since I have heard stories about Phoenix through Muggle books? If so, what kind of animal is a Basilisk?" Juliette rambled, wanting to know alot about her ancestors.

Ragnok amusingly stared at Juliette.

" Maybe?" Ragnok responds to the first question. " Yes," He responded to the second question.

" A Magizoolgist does have something to do with animals. A Magizoolgist is a Witch or Wizard that studies magical creatures. The specific name of this subject is Magizoology. A Magizoolgist can choose to learn about all of the magical creatures from around the world, or only learn specific creatures, like Phoenix, Basilisk, and dragons, to name a few," Ragnok answered Juliette's questions.

" And speaking of Basilisk, it is a giant poisonous snake," Ragnok bluntly tells Juliette.

" Cool!" Juliette beamed, finding the subject very intriguing as she begins to recall Charlie's devotion to dragons.

' From seeing Charlie being so knowledgable about dragons as well as being so passionate about those creatures. I have a feeling that he wants to be a Magizooligst, and even though I recently met him, something tells me he is going to be amazing in that field,' Juliette happily tells herself.

" Speaking of Iolanthe Peverell," Ragnok changes the subject, grabbing Juliette's attention as the two turns to stare at the Family tree.

" She is also the granddaughter of a Legendary Wizard named Ignotus Peverell," Ragnok tells Juliette.

Juliette's Hazel-green eyes blinked when she sees an image of Ignotus Peverell.

" What makes him so Legendary?" Juliette asked, sounding and looking curious.

" There have been many stories about your ancestor, Ignotus, and his brothers Cadmus and Antioch Peverell. I honestly do not know which of these sources are real because some of them seem too fictional as I recall it," Ragnok rubbed his chin.

Juliette hummed when she sees images of Cadmus and Antioch Peverell.

Juliette then turns to stare at Ragnok, wanting to know more about Ignotus and his brothers.

" According to a famous book written by Beedle, the Bard named The Tale of the Three Brothers. Your ancestor, Ignotus, was portrayed as the humblest and wisest of the three Peverell brothers," Ragnok tells Juliette.

Juliette nods her head as chairs magically moved to them, and she and Ragnok sat down.

" Meanwhile, his eldest brother, Cadmus, was described as being an arrogant soul, distancing himself to those around him. On the other hand, his second brother, Antioch, was described as combative, enjoying being in fights and such," Ragnok explains to Juliette.

" The story stated that the three brothers used their magical talents to cross a treacherous river that would have assuredly killed them. Death then appeared in front of them and congratulated them for their use of magic by presenting them a gift of their choice.

Cadmus wanted to humiliate Death, so he requested a stone that would have the power to bring the dead back to life, which Death obliged and provided for him," Ragnok looks at Juliette, and he sees that she is staring at him with a shocked expression.

' Was Cadmus that sorrowful? I mean, I know I would be crazy wanting my loved ones back if they died. But, bringing them back for my selfish needs sounds so wrong,' Juliette tells herself, looking and feeling conflicted.

" Antioch," Ragnok continued.

" He asked for a wand more powerful than any other in existence: a wand that must always win duels for its owner, a wand worthy of a wizard who had conquered Death himself. So, Death obliged, creating a wand from an elder tree on the banks of the river," Ragnok briefly stared at Juliette, who is looking at him in disbelief.

' Antioch is so power-hungry that he wants to use something so powerful to defeat many people that cross him,' Juliette frowned, looking and feeling concerned about her ancestors. Still, Ragnok says that the sources have turned fictional, so she isn't sure if what he is saying is true.

" Lastly, Ignotus," Ragnok smirked when he sees Juliette looking at him.

" Unlike his brothers, Ignotus seemed untrustful of Death. Instead of wanting something he desired, Ignotus asked Death to leave the meeting without being followed by Death.

So, Death begrudgingly decided to rip a piece of his cloak and give it to Ignotus because he didn't want him to see what he planned," Ragnok snapped his fingers as two cups of tea, and some snacks appeared since he could see that Juliette is getting hungry.

Juliette's stomach growled, causing her to blush, which made her look and feel embarrassed, making her light blue hair turn pink.

" Thank you," Juliette whispers as she grabs the teacup, and she takes a sip.

' From what Ragnok is telling me about Ignotus, he did make a wise decision by asking Death to give him something to escape Death itself. I cannot help but imagine Ignotus being very brave to do that,' Juliette tells herself as she drinks her tea and eats her snack.

" After meeting Death, the three brothers went their separate ways, but stuff started to happen to the two of the three brothers," Ragnok takes a sip of his tea.

Juliette worriedly stared at Ragnok.

" Cadmus did use the resurrection stone. He used it to bring back his lover. However, Cadmus soon found out that his lover did not get revived; they appeared sad and cold, and the lad felt as if a veil still separated them. Because of that, driven mad with longing, Cadmus committed suicide to truly be reunited with his lost love," Ragnok briefly stopped when he sees tears fall from Juliette's Hazel-green eyes.

Juliette sniffed as she waved her hand to let Ragnok know to continue.

" Like Cadmus, Antioch used the Elder Wand. He went to a Village, met a Wizard, and fought against him. With so much power in his hold, Antioch easily defeated his opponent. Despite the success, he went to celebrate, but Death quickly took his life in a disguise of a Thief, who cut his neck and then took the wand to a distant land," Ragnok stopped as he snapped his fingers, and a handkerchief appeared in front of Juliette, who kindly accepted it.

" You said only those two suffered consequences," Juliette whispered as she wipes her tears away with the handkerchief. " What happened to Ignotus?" She asked, looking and sounding concerned.

Ragnok widely smirked.

" Because of the gift Death bestowed Ignotus, the lad was able to live his life peacefully. He fell in love, married, and had a son. As he got older, he finally decided it was time for him to go. So, he gave Death's gift to his son as a family heirloom while Death greeted him like an old friend," Ragnok finished telling the story to Juliette.
