I have some more things to say, but they'll be at the end of the update. I hope you all enjoy
It had only been a day since Portland, and while what he did was wrong, Amelia had given up on trying to be mad at Damon. This was his decision to make, which he would suffer the consequences for at some point. There was no point in doing anything other, then letting him learn on his own.
"What do think Matt wants with Stefan?" Amelia asked curiously, as the couple made their way through the cemetery, on their way to meet with Liv.
He gave her a look. "I don't know. It's Matt. Food, money, a new social class. Whatever it is, it better distract Stefan from his sizeable screw-up with Caroline."
She winced at the thought. Caroline had gone MIA since Friendsgiving, everything with Stefan getting a bit much for her, so she was spending some time with her Mom outside of the border. Stefan had yet to properly talk to the girl, neither of them willing to attempt to make the first move. It was a awkward situation for them, and everyone that knew them.
"Oh yeah." She sighed. "I should probably call Care, find out how she's doing. I just want them both to be happy."
"Even if she goes completely crazy and flips her switch, cause she can't bare the thought of being without him?"
Amelia gave him a glare, hitting him in the chest. "That's mean."
"That's truthful." But that only earned him a huff, as she stormed ahead. "What? Oh, come on. Amelia! You love me!"
"Debatable." She retorted.
Their bickering halted, as they spotted Liv in the distance, knelt on the ground digging through a bag. Amelia shot her a grin, as the girl turned to face them. "Wonder twin two. Thanks for doing this."
"Don't worry about it." The Parker witch shrugged. "I needed an excuse to get out of that frat house. Way too much boy. Gross." Seeing their disinterested looks, she rolled her eyes, before getting to the point. "You got everything?"
"Yep." Damon said, popping the p. "Blood from a Bennett - Lucy to be exact - and an Ascendant from whatever the hell your last name is." Amelia pinched the bridge of her nose, as Liv took the stuff from him, giving the Salvatore a icy look.
Looking away from him, she examined the Ascendant curiously. "So this is the famous Ascendant? Surprised Jo gave it up." The blonde mused. "It's the only thing keeping Kai in his prison. If he gets out, he's coming after Jo."
The two vampires looked at one another, Damon shifting awkwardly on his feet. No one knew about the compulsion he did on Ric, apart from Amelia and Stefan, and he wanted to keep it that way. He had compelled Alaric to forget it happened, so everything would be fine in that front.
"Well, good old Jo..." The Salvatore trailed off, making the witch raise a brow at him. "Can we do this please?"
Shrugging, she nodded. "Whatever. So, I'm gonna need the moon to activate the Ascendant. It will be viable for about 8 hours, so once I send you over, the clock is ticking."
The Evans girl nodded. "But how do we get back?"
"Drink these." She answered, handing them three small vials of blood. "It's my blood. It will link you to me so I can find you and bring you back. Give one to Bonnie, too."
Pulling off the cap, Damon sniffed the blood skeptically, as Amelia slid the spare vial into her jeans pocket for later. Liv looked at them incredulously. "Are you waiting for a toast? Drink."
Doing as told, they clinked their vials together sarcastically, before each downing the contents. Damon pulled a face he swallowed it. "Hmm. Bitter. Wonder why?" Liv ignores the insult, and prepares the Ascendant. "Shall we?" He smiles, offering his hand to Amelia.
Smiling back, she took it without hesitation. "Here goes nothing."
Slowly, as Liv poured the Bennett blood on the Ascendant and chants the spell, the world around them begins to fade. Then, everything faded into a bright light, before returning to normal. Only, Liv was no longer stood in front of them, parts of the cemetery different. Like, for example, Elena and Jeremy's parents grave was gone from where it stood.
"The Gilbert's grave is gone." Amelia was the first to spot. "Caroline pointed it out to me in the past. If it's not here, then that means this is 1994. Years before they died."
"Which means Bonnie is here." Damon added, carefully eyeing the area. "So let's go get her. Just keep your eyes peeled. There's a pork rind munching somewhere around here."
*****
The first stop was the Boarding house, which apart from the pool table and a few electrical objects, wasn't so different to how it was in modern day. Upon arrival, the couple split up, searching the house and calling the Bennett witches name.
"Anything?" Amelia asked hopefully, as they before rejoined in the living room.
He shook his head. "Nothing. You?"
"No." She sighed, falling back onto the couch. "And I checked every room, including the basement." As a familiar scent hits her nose, she sniffs curiously to double check, before sitting up and beginning to rummage through the cushions.
"What are yo-" Damon is cut off, by her tossing a pillow at him, pointing a red stain on it.
It was crimson red, a color that only worried the couple, even if Damon tried not to show it. "What if Kai-"
He quickly clamped a hand over her mouth. "Let's not jump to any depressing conclusions, okay?"
"That's blood." She argued firmly, removing his hand from her mouth. "That's blood, Damon. If that freak has laid a hand on her, I swear I will tear out his liver and feed him it."
"Look at that, we're jumping." Damon frowned, as she only glared back, before picking up the phone. "If Kai has Bonnie, we need to talk. So, I'm going to page him."
She sat back down, grumbling. "Oh, I'm not aloud to jump to conclusions, but you're fine to assume he took her." She muttered childishly, as he just watched her amused, continuing on with his plan. "What?"
He shook his head, unable to hide a smirk."Nothing dear. Let's dial Jackass's number 555- HIYA KAI." He said with a eye roll. "We leave our number, then we hang up. Now we sit by the phone like 13 year old girls and wait."
She saw his serious look, groaning. "Thrilling." She deadpanned, stuck in a sulk.
After a few minuets, unable to sit still, the girl got up to explore the house. She stayed in the living room, sitting cross legged on the floor, as she rummaged through the cupboards. Old letters, photographs, books, nothing of any real interest. Until, she found a old camcorder, and began to fidget with the buttons.
"Gotcha'" She grinned, as she found the power button, finding there was still life in it. "Let's see what's on you, shall we?" She spoke to herself, pressing the play button on the side, and watching the small flip screen play the video footage.
Damon appeared on the screen, surprising her. He was in clothes, similar to the ones he appeared in the crypt in. A baggy white shirt, with a checkered shirt over the top. "Well, I am officially in hell. This place is my own personal hell." Video Damon spoke, making the Evans girl frown at his words, and the saddened expression on his face.
"Whoa." Damon swooped in, snatching the camera from her grasp.
She went to grab it back, only for him to hide it behind his back. "Hey! I was watching that. Actually, what was that?"
"Uh, it's my audition tape for 'Real World London'" He lied badly, giving her a fake smile. "Fingers crossed. I think I'm finally gonna make."
Crossing her arms over her chest, Amelia gave him a hardened look. "Okay, now what was it really? As, to me, it looked like a video journal."
"What?" He scoffed, chuckling with a wary look. "No. Journals are lame, especially video ones."
"Damon, just for a second, be serious." She asked, clamping her hands on his shoulders, attempting to get him to look her in the eyes. "Why would you say that this is your own personal hell?"
His face crinkled, trying to think of viable excuse. "Well, I mean, because I was stuck here with Bonnie. I didn't have you with me. What could be worse then that?"
Amelia facial expression dipped. It saddened her to think, that he couldn't be fully honest with her. They were as close as you could get in a relationship, yet, he was still keeping things from her. She understood, that his time in the prison wasn't something he may want to relive, but she wanted him to feel like he could talk to her about it.
"Damon..." But, she didn't get to finish, as the phone began to ring.
They both looked at one another, before Damon answered the call, placing it on speaker for Amelia to hear. "Kai, if you so much as hurt one hair on her annoying little witchy head, I will kill you and-"
"That was so sweet. Why did you have to ruin it by calling me annoying?"
Damon froze, as a look of surprise appeared on Amelia's face. "Bonnie?" She asked to clarify, not really believing what she was hearing.
"Amelia?" Bonnie asked, emotion seeping in her tone. "Amelia, is that you?"
"Yes!" She cheered, as Damon smiled at her overjoyed look and tone. "It's me, Bon. It's me."
"I can't believe I'm hearing your voice right now." The Bennett witch sniffed, a little disbelief in her tone, thinking the girl was only her imagination. "How are you here?"
Amelia laughed a little. "You aren't the only one. It's a long story, but, we are here to get you Bonnie. We are here to take you home."
As much as they loved it, they had to cut the reunion short, so Bonnie could tell them what had been happening with Kai. Apparently, she had been made to spend Thanksgiving with him, in his old family home in Portland. After a dinner of spaghetti, he stole her blood and took the Ascendant, leaving the witch in Portland. Instantly, Amelia could see the worry on Damon's face, knowing Kai was going to escape now he had what he needed.
"Hang on." Amelia paused the girl. "You hot wired a car? Who are you?"
Bonnie laughed. "A badass apparently. A badass in Muncie."
"Muncie?" The Evans girl repeated, after thinking for a moment. "That's not too far from here."
"61/2 hours away, give or take a knuckle." The Salvatore told her, checking a map he laid out on the coffee table.
"Liv's puling us out in 7."
"If you don't stop to use the little witches room anymore..." Damon trailed off, knowing Bonnie would easily catch on, grinning a little.
"I can make ti home in time." She breathed out. "I'm going home."
Amelia nodded, ignoring the fact only Damon could see her doing it. "Damn right you are. Be safe, we'll see you soon." With that, they hung up the call, so Bonnie could get herself back on the road.
Even though this was a happy thing, Damon couldn't bring himself to celebrate, his mind focused on Kai. "If he's got Bonnie's blood and Ascendant, he has everything he needs to get out." He frowns deeply. "What if he's already out?"
****
With time to kill, a distraction from thinking the worst needed, the couple retreated to the kitchen. As Damon got to work cooking for them, Amelia sat on the counter top, looking through the pile of CD's after setting the table ready.
"Perfect." She grinned, putting a CD in the player.
Pressing play, Livin' On A Prayer by Bon Jovi began to play, Amelia instantly dancing around to the beat. Damon just rolled his eyes, thinking back to the day of graduation, when he found Amelia, Stefan and Lexi drunkenly dancing to Bon Jovi.
"Oh, oh. Livin on a prayer." She hummed a long, bopping her head up and down. "The 90's and early had some of the best music. Better then the teenage pop we have now. People just don't appreciate good music as much anymore."
Damon just gave a her a bemused look. "Okay, headbanger. Sit down, foods ready."
She stuck her tongue out at him, before sliding onto one of the benches, as Damon placed a plate down in front of her with a pancake on it. On top, he'd made a smiley face out of blueberries, doing the same to his own.
"Wait." She says as he goes to eat, grabbing the can of whip cream. Leaning over, she added two small vampire fangs to the blueberry mouth, before giving herself a nod of appreciation. "Perfect. Let's eat."
The Salvatore just stared, making her look up at him, blushing a little at the look her wore. "What?"
"Nothing." He said, shaking his head with a small grin.
On the side of the table, Amelia's eyes fell on the newspaper, that was folded onto the crossword puzzle page, A mouthful of pancake, she grabbed it and looked, noting all the scribbles out and notes along the side of the page. Swallowing, she glanced at the Salvatore sat across from her.
"Alright, which one of mangled the poor crossword?"
"6 letters, illiterate witch, b." He answered smartly, earning a eye roll.
"Funny." She deadpanned, her eyes scanning the pages of the newspaper, as she flicked through it boredly. The main article made her eyes widen slightly. "Is this what Kai did to his family?" She questioned, slightly alarmed.
Damon nodded hesitantly. "Kai's greatest hits staring us in the face everyday."
"If Kai's out, he's gonna go after Jo." The Evans girls said, putting her head in her hands with a groan. "He'll kill her. Now, thanks to your compulsion on Ric, we've stolen the one thing that probably made her feel safe. The key keeping Kai trapped in here."
"Well, if I have my Gemini rules down, actually, he's going to merge with her, which will most likely result in her death, which I guess is 6 of 1..." The look his attempt at comfort received, made him shut up instantly, getting up to change the music.
Groaning once more, Amelia rested her head on the table. "You've screwed up. We should of found another way to do this."
"I thought you'd gave up being mad at me?" He asked.
"I'm always mad at you." She retorted, before getting up to her feet. "I need some air, I'm going to go explore a while."
"Amy..."
But, she sped out, and he was left to hear the front door click shut.
*****
In 1994, the Old Evans estate was still a wreck, but it was in better shape then it was in present day Mystic Falls. Amelia sat on the beaten down porch, her fingers tracing the chipped paint, as she looked around at the overgrown garden.
"We made so many memories out here." Damon commented, as he walked over to join her.
She glanced up, as he sat down beside her. "How'd you find me?"
"It didn't take a genius, to work out where you'd go." He shrugged, as he looked around the old estate as well. "This where you use to always come, when you need to think, or you didn't want to spend the day with me, Stefan and Katherine."
She laughed halfheartedly. "Yeah, well, I had good reason for not wanting to." She then glanced around again, smiling a small, yet sad, smile. "We practically grew up on this porch. If we weren't here, we were on yours. I can remember chasing Candice down the driveway, us two sneaking off into the garden to avoid our parents, I can remember teasing our younger siblings about liking one another."
Damon chuckled at that. "When it turns out, they should of been the ones teasing us."
"If Candice could see us today..." She trailed off, looking down and biting her lip.
Comfortingly, Damon wrapped a arm around her shoulder, pulling her close to him. "She'd be proud of you." He told her. "You know, me and Bonnie used to come here nearly everyday. Being here, it was closest thing I had as a reminder of you, and I needed every single one I could get."
"In that video journal, you said this place was your own personal hell." Amelia cautiously brought up the subject. "Why? And don't lie to me, Damon. We're engaged, we should be honest with each other."
"May 10, 1994, I had a day." He began, not looking at her as he spoke. "I was mad at Stefan for something. I don't even remember what it was, and in typical Damon fashion, I acted out. People died. A lot of them, and believe it or not, ever since that day, I've felt horribly guilty. So I thought that this was my hell, Amelia... But you know who didn't? Bonnie. She had hope for both of us. She's the reason I survived, the reason I made it out. Who knew? Turns out you spend time with someone and don't kill them, you actually become friends. I'm doing this for Bonnie, Amelia. And that's it."
Grabbing his chin with her hand, she turned his head to face her. "Stop acting like I'm going to judge you for past mistakes. Damon, I'd never do that, we've been through this before." She told him, before running her hand through his hair. "I never thought you and Bonnie would become a pair."
The Salvatore swatted her hand away, giving her a look. "Don't make this any weirder then it needs to be."
"I love you." She breathed out, as she rested her head on his shoulder.
Damon rested his head on hers, entwining their hands together. "I love you too."
That's when they started to feel something, looking at one another confused, until the scene around them began to fade. Suddenly, blinking to gather themselves, they found themselves back in Mystic Falls cemetery. In front of them, stood Tyler and Liv, looking rather panicked.
"We had another hour." The female vampire growls angrily. "What are you doing!?"
"Kai is here." Tyler informs the duo, making them tense. "We need to get back to Mystic Falls before he takes anymore of her magic."
"No.' Amelia spits stubbornly. "Send us back first."
Liv just shakes her head. "I can't."
"Bonnie was on her way!" She tells them, stalking closer to them. "She's going to think we abandoned her. Send us back! We can't leave her over there!" Suddenly, she hits against something invisible, letting out a shriek of pain as he skin begins to burn and blister.
Alarmed, Damon quickly drags her back. "Amelia, you were over the border."
Tyler looks at them sadly. "I'm sorry." He apologizes, before him and Liv before take off out of sight, unable to be reached by either vampire safely.
"No..." Amelia says, shaking her head. "This can't be happening. We were so close. This can't of all of been for nothing."
*****
Since Liv and Tyler left, the couple just sat in the cemetery, trying to wrap their heads around it. They'd came so close, after so long being stuck, they could of brought Bonnie home. Now, she was going to arrive to find them gone.
"Bonnie's gonna get to the house, and we'll be gone." The Evans girls sighed, leaning her head back against the tree they sat under.
"Until the next comet, full moon, or eclipse." Damon listed, a determined tone in his voice. "As long as we have that." He nodded to the Ascendant, that Amelia hadn't let go of since Tyler and Liv left. "Can can go back as many times as we need until we get her back."
"Wait." A new voice interrupts. "Are you guys talking about Bonnie Bennett? Because honestly, I didn't think she was all that great."
Looking to the side, a tallish man with short dark hair, stood leaning against a nearby tree. Instantly, Damon's lips morphed into a scowl, as he looked at the man. It didn't take long for Amelia to piece it together.
"Kai Parker, I assume?" She asked, glaring at him also.
Kai looked the girl up and down. "Huh, Damon was right to ramble on about you contently. In fact, you're more hot then he gave you credit for. I mean, I assume you're the infamous Amelia Evans?" He guessed, before his face scrunched up a little. "Where have I heard your name before? Evans? It's ringing some very confusing bells."
He gave up thinking within seconds, and flicked his wrist at them, causing the Ascendant to go flying from Amelia's hand into a tree. It fell to the ground, broken into multiple different pieces, making it unusable.
"Alright, dick." The girl spat furiously, scrambling to her feet. "Now your just asking for your neck to be snapped."
Damon got up, standing at her side. "I am gonna enjoy the hell out of this."
Kai smirked, as he walked toward them. "Oh, hey. Me too." He smirked, muttering something under his breath, making them drop to their knees and hold their heads in pain. "I, uh, stole some of Liv's magic when I tried to kill her. Think some it might still be in my system, so pardon me."
Forcing herself up, Amelia sped over to the Ascendant pieces and grabbed them, just before Kai could reach them.
"Wow, you're a determined one." He nodded, impressed, before looking down at the pieces she held. "Phesmatos Incendia."
Suddenly, the pieces began to burn, the flames getting bigger as they traveled up the Evans girl arm. Amelia quickly dropped the melting metal pieces, moaning in pain as she attempted to put out the fire, desperately trying to stop the burning. Gathering himself, Damon sped over to attack the Parker siphon, only for him to disappear before he could grab him.
Grabbing a tree branch from the floor, Damon swung it around like a bat, causing Kai to become visible again. The hit knocked him over the old iron fence, landing on the ground with a loud thud.
Amelia breathed heavily, as he arm healed, the flames finally out. "You're actually insane."
"You okay?" Damon asked, grabbing the arm that finished healing, and she just nodded.
"Well, you don't get put in Prison world for being mentally stable." Kai retorted, smirking at her wickedly, as he dragged himself to his feet. "Huh." He then nodded, as noted neither of them went for him. "I guess this is that, uh, anti-magic border, which means now there's a psycho loose in Mystic Falls and no vampires around to stop him. Oops."
They can only watch, as he gives them a sadistic wave, before turning and walking away from them.
It's been a while, like I said before, but you got a long update. I'm going to try to update this more regularly, so I can get Forever Yours completed. Honestly, the amount of times I considered putting this on hold is dumb. That's not happening, I love Amelia too much. I just hope people still want to read this, it's been that long.
I want to say, I want to hold of Amelia/Damelia themed editing contest, just so I can see what wonderful creations you guys come up with. If you'd be interested in taking place, let me know, I'll think about putting one on.
I hope you all enjoyed :)
