47 - Rebirth
In the middle of a road, the body of a women laid on the ground, her eyes staring blankly at the sky above. She could hear a car approaching, but it didn't make her move, she didn't even flinch as headlights came closer and became brighter.
"Oh, my God" A voice yelled inside the car, as it came to a screeching stop.
The female driver got out of the car, jogging forward to the women's still body, fear written all over her face. She bent down beside her, checking her desperately over for any injuries, the adrenaline kicking in.
"Ms? Are you okay? Are you hurt?" She fires out rapidly, noticing the women's eyes are wide open, but with a void look filling them.
"No" A small voice replied, with no clear emotion in the voice "It hurts. It hurts all over, and I don't know how to make it stop"
The driver gulped "Okay. I'm-I'm Cindy. You're going to be okay. I'll go get a blanket from my car, then I'll call an ambulance. You will be okay, I promise" Getting to her feet, she jogs back over to the car, searching quickly for the blanket and phone.
Grabbing the phone, she dialed 911 and pressed it to her ear, searching through everything the boot for the blanket. When she found, she began to walk back toward the women, stopping when the call was finally answered "Hello. There's been an accident. I don't know exactly what's happened, but-"
Before she can finish, the phone is snatched from her hand, thrown to the ground with a brutal force. Her body stiffens in fear, as she looks straight ahead of her, to see no one in the road any longer. Cindy lets lump form in her throat, tears stinging the her "Please" She whispers pleadingly "Please don't hurt me"
Amelia stares at the women's back, tilting her head to the side in consideration, her eyes fixated on her neck "Three months ago, I never would of thought twice abut this. I wouldn't even be here. But now - I'm sorry"
Grabbing Cindy by the hair, she pulls her close, before piercing her fangs into her neck. A high pitched screams fills the air, before it all goes silent, and a thud of a body hitting the ground sounds. Blankly, the Evans girl just stares at the corpse for a moment, before she walks toward the now abandoned car.
She takes it without hesitation, driving away from the scene without looking back, one destination stuck inside of her mind.

Inside the Mikaelson compound, everything was quiet, only Elijah in view. He watched as Cami walked out, a defeated look on her face, and he could sense his brothers presence behind him. He glanced over at his half sibling, as small smile on his lips.
"I like her spirit" He comments genuinely, and Klaus didn't even attempt to force a small back.
Instead, he sighs and looks down, a remote look on his face "So do I"
As they turned to walk away, they sense a new presence enter the courtyard, making them freeze on the spot. Turning, their eyes widened in slight disbelief at what they saw, unsure of what to say or do.
In the middle of the courtyard, a numb Amelia stood with a bag in her hands, the faint races of blood wiped around her mouth. She looks around the familiar place, before she spots the pair upstairs, staring at her from the balcony. Biting on her lip, she allows her eyes to meet Klaus'
"You once told me, there would always be a home for me here if I needed it" She begins, before dropping her bag to floor "Well, I'm hoping that offer still stands, as I really need somewhere to call home for a while"
Klaus sped down to the ground floor, so he was stood right in front of her "You are in danger being here, love"
She scoffed, a glassy look in her eyes "I step foot inside Mystic Falls, I'll get stripped of my vampirism and die. I'd rather be here facing your demons, then mope outside the place I can no longer call home. I don't care how dangerous it is"
Elijah walked down the stares, a brow raised at her "Surely, you should be with the Salvatore brothers, if what you say is true. I don't believe any of you are ones to give up, when faced with a crisis"
"Can we not talk about them, please?" She asked in a low voice, diverting her eyes to look at the ground "I- I'd really prefer it if we didn't talk about them"
At this, the two brothers exchange looks, scanning the girl before them up and down. It was easy to tell something was wrong. What that was, was a different question, apart from that it was to do with the Salvatore's. When Klaus's eyes met hers again, he could see a flicker of a small ghost upon her lips.
"Please, Nik. I know you guys are going through a lot, and whatever it is you are doing about it, I want to help. I could do with the distraction, really" She offered "If you want me to go, I will. But, I'd grateful for the chance to stay a while"
Once again, he and Elijah looked at one another, before back at her "Fine" Klaus agreed "Like I did once say, this is a home for you. But, you are to do exactly as we say, and not put yourself at risk"
"Deal" She agreed easily "But, if you think you guys are going to be to pry my problems out of me, you are out of lot. I'll talk about them when I'm ready, and right now, I'm not sure I'm ever going to be ready" She then picks up her bag again "I assume my old room still remains? I'll go unpack, then you can explain why the Quarter is crawling with wolves"
Swiftly, brushes past them and walks upstairs, leaving them staring after her in wonder. This wasn't the Amelia they were used to, and despite her warning, Klaus was determined to figure out what was wrong with her. Much like her, he could use her problems to distract from his own, God knows he could use it.

"I'm not looking for tough guys, Josh" Marcel explains, pouring himself a drink "I'm looking for warriors"
Josh rolled his eyes "What's the difference?"
"A warrior fights for what they believe in" Klaus speaks up, walking into the loft with Amelia following behind "A warrior fights for his family"
Marcel stares at Klaus a moment, before a smile breaks out onto his lips. His eyes then fall on Amelia, who sends him a smirk, as a surprised look falls onto his face. It had been months since he'd last seen her, having been told by Klaus about her life in Mystic Falls, which never left her bored for a moment.
"Happy to see me, Marcellus?" She asks, walking forward and taking his drink from his hand, wrapping an arm around his shoulder.
He shot her a smile "It's good to see you, A. Must say, I didn't expect to see you in town"
"Well, I'm a women full of surprises" She replied, downing the drink in one gulp, then taking a seat on the small couch.
When Josh left, the three sat around the coffee table, the game of Go sat in front of them. Amelia simply observed them, nursing a glass of Bourbon in her hands, her mind drifting off to different places. Though, she still pays some attention to the conversation ongoing, since it was helping bring her up to speed with everything.
"The wolves have the numbers. Back in 1925, the Guerrera pack was maybe a hundred. We went guerrilla warfare on their asses and wiped them out over a four day fight" Marcel explains, as he moves a piece on the game board "But, we're not just talking about Guerreras now. They've had wolves coming in from packs all over"
"Well, we don't have to hit them all" Klaus shrugged "Only the twelve with the rings that take me out every full moon"
"Wait, you want twelve rings?" The youngest Vampire asks, his voice one of slight disbelief "Go out and chop off the hands of every wolf you find 'til you get what you want! I mean, come on! You taught me that" He exclaims, earning a small smile from Klaus, as he takes his turn.
"Not sure that was the greatest lesson you've ever taught, Nik" The Evans girl mutters, rolling her eyes.
Marcel ignores her, studying the hybrid for a moment "You and Elijah are stalling. Why?"
"Because it's possible they are in the procession of something very dangerous to us" He admits begrudgingly, and the pair realize instantly what he is implying.
"You couldn't of mentioned it was missing sooner?" Amelia hisses lowly, slightly annoyed she had been told this before.
Marcel gulps, slightly stunned "They have the stake that can kill you"
"It went missing..." His voice trials off, pain becoming obvious in his tone "the night I lost my child. So, it's in play, and the thought of that makes me very nervous. Especially on nights like tonight"His eyes snap out the window, making them all glance outside, to see the full moon rose high in the sky.
"Why would you tell me that?" Marcel asks warily, as Klaus narrows his eyes at him.
"Depends. Do you have it?"
The dark skinned man scoffs "Course not. That kind of weapon does me no good. You die, I die, along with every vampire we've ever sired"
A look of pure relief falls on Nik's face "Well, then, perhaps you'd like to help me get it back? We attack the wolves, tonight, when the moon hits its apex. They won't expect it while I'm weak"
Feeling her phone buzzing, Amelia quickly excuses herself as new man arrives, but she slips out before introducing herself. Seeing the caller ID, she sighs, her finger looming over the reject button.
Caroline.
Biting her tongue, she answers the call, slowly pressing the phone up against her ear "Where the hell are you?" The blonde snaps, instantly making Amelia regret answering.
Ever since Amelia lost him, Caroline despite grieving Bonnie herself, had been trying to help the Evans girl through it. But, if felt more suffocating and smothering then anything. Whatever Caroline did to help, only resulted in making things worse, one of the many reasons Amelia had escaped to New Orleans.
"Out" She replied shortly, leaning back against a wall with a bored expression.
Caroline sighed, rolling her eyes "Well, you've been MIA all day, when we could of done with your help. Get your ass back here"
"I'm not coming back, Caroline" She sighs, deciding the best option is to be blunt "I can't stay there. I can't live with you on the outskirts of Mystic Falls, hoping we'll find a way to get rid of the spell, and go home. Because, even if we did, what's left for me there? I can't do it anymore.I'm sorry, tell the others I'm sorry"
Before Caroline could argue, Amelia hung up and turned off her phone, before slipping it back into her pocket. She feels a tear form in corner of her eye, but quickly wipes it away, pretending it was never there as she walks back into the loft. She'd pushed her feelings away so far, she wasn't going stop doing that now.
"Well, that doesn't matter" Amelia sees Klaus say with a shrug, as joins them all again "Because tonight, we're going on a wolf hunt"
She gives an impressed smirk "Sounds like fun. I'm in"

The plan was set in motion. Get the rings off of the wolves, and destroy them to stop the weakening Klaus. Everyone had their own part to play, so Amelia and Haley were hid inside the compound, ready to attack any wolves trying to get to Klaus.
Haley is the first to attack, rushing at two wolves heading to go upstairs, snapping their necks and slipping the rings off their fingers. Amelia hears a growl from behind, and spins on her heel to face two wolves, both of their eyes glowing gold. On one of them, a moonlight ring rests on his finger, making her send him a frown.
"Oh, come on boys" She tuts "Surely, you'd think to hide the one thing we are after"
She just stays stood still, as the first wolf comes running at her, letting a low growl as he does. Rolling her eyes, she kicks her leg up and kicks him the chest, sending him flying to the ground with ease. She goes to kick the next one, only fir him to grab her leg and twist, sending her falling down on the spot.
"Rude" She snaps, quickly scrambling back up and rushing at him.
Grabbing his arm, she twists it and holds it against his back, slipping the moonlight ring off his finger and putting it in her jacket pocket. She then shoves her hand into his back, grabbing his spine and breaking it, making him fall down dead instantly.
Haley looks at her impressed "Your good"
She simply shrugs, noticing the first wolf getting back to his feet "I've had a lot of practice"
It was like she had jinxed herself in that moment. As she threw out her arm, her fist formed to punch the wolf, a sharp pain went rippling through her arm and the rest of her body. Surprisingly, she didn't scream, her voice completely lost in the heat of the moment. Snapping to her sense, she ripped her arm from the wolf's mouth, rushing and snapping his neck.
Her eyes then fall on the bit, but strangely, no sense of fear of panic rush through her. Maybe it was the adrenaline, maybe it wasn't. Whatever it was, it was stopping her from fearing one thing she knew was certain. Death.
This bite was going to kill her.
Before Haley could notice, she quickly rolled down her sleeve to cover the bite, and prepared for the next round of wolves coming their way. Haley and Amelia stand back to back, as a the wolves circle around them, some with noticeable moonlight rings on their fingers.
"Have I mentioned that I've had a rotten couple of months?" Haley says, a determined look appearing on her face.
"So have I" Amelia says, clenching her fist "Shall we let off some steam?"
Haley smirks, nodding "Let's do it"
The wolves didn't stand a chance at that point, as the Hybrid and vampire rushed at them, not a hint of fear in their eyes. Haley had lost her child, and Amelia had lost the love of her life. They were angry, and ready to kill anybody who threatened them. These Guerrera were no exception.
Spotting someone familiar, once all the other wolves were down Haley ran straight at him. Violently, she beat him into a bloody pulp, clearly having a personal vengeance against this one. Amelia stood back and watched her, collecting up the last of the moonlight rings as she did.
"You think you're strong because of that ring you wear?" She yells in the mans faces, pining him against the wall by the throat "You're NOTHING! We were strong, we were apart of a pack, and you ruined it"
Slipping the ring off his finger, she drops the guy to the floor, holding the blue gem ring in front of his face "If I see you with one of these again, I will kill you myself"
*****
"Amelia"
She span on her heel, having recognized the voice instantly, but saw no one there. Her entire face was pale, beads of sweat dripping down her forehead, as the bite on her arm grew and worsened. She could hear Elijah and Klaus talking in the next room, but this voice was different.
It was the one she had been missing for months.
"Damon?" She croaked out, her voice breaking slightly.
"What are you doing to yourself, Amy?" His voice asked again, and she spun yet again in the direction she heard the voice, to see him stood there.
He was leaned in the wooden door frame of her bedroom, his arms folded lazily across his chest, a concerned look plastered all over his face. She blinked rapidly, thinking when she opened her eyes he'd be gone, yet he remained stood there.
"I can't do this anymore" She said in weak tone "I don't know how to live without you"
"Yes you do" He corrected, shaking his head at her "You've done it before, you can do it again"
Silent tears slipped down her cheeks "What if I don't want to? You promised you would come back to me, you promised we would get married and be happy. Now, all I have is reminders of the life I can never have, with no place left to call home"
Damon slowly walked toward her, gently cupping her face with his hands. Her breath became uneven, his touch sending shivers down her spine. But, that was reality finally started to reappear, as the hallucination faded.
'Damon' turned out to be Elijah, worry plastered all over his face "Amelia? Amelia, what is going on?"
No answer left her lips, and she just collapsed into his arms weakly, her legs giving out on her. His eyes widened in surprise, but lifted her bridal style into his arms, scanning her over for whatever could be causing this. That's when he found it. The bite.
"NIKLAUS"
Klaus entered within moments, looking at the pair in surprise and confusion, until Elijah simply held up her bitten arm.
"Why wouldn't she say something?" He asked, biting into his wrist and pressing it against her mouth, watching the bite heal as she drank from him hungrily.
The eldest Mikaelson frowned "I think it has something to do with Damon Salvatore"
"Whatever the idiot has done to hurt, can't be so bad she has a death wish, Elijah" Klaus scoffed, taking the girl from his arms and laying her onto her bed.
Elijah simply frowned deeper, her hallucination making all the pieces fall into place in his mind "Brother, I don't think we were the only one with loved ones on the other side when it collapsed"
After a moment, it clicked for the original hybrid, and he looked at the Evans girl with a sigh. This was what she had been hiding.
******
Dear Damon,
I didn't think I'd ever back at this stage of my life again. Writing letters to the dead. But, the world seems to be cruel enough to of taken you from me again. This time, it feels different. This time, I lost someone more then just my best friend, the guy I'd been crushing on for as long as I could remember.
I lost my fiance. I lost the love of my life, and I don't know how to come back from that. I can't go back to Mystic Falls, not because of the anti-magic spell, and it would be too painful even if I could. Too many memories, it would be overwhelming.
Everyone is coping in different ways. Elena, Stefan, Caroline, Matt, Jeremy, Tyler, Enzo. They are managing to cope in their own ways. Today I realized, I don't have a coping method. All I've done, is take my pain out on innocent people, and nearly let myself die from being reckless. I just feel so empty...
So, I'm leaving New Orleans. I thought coming here would help, but I'm just going to cause problems for everyone here, problems they don't need. When i leave, I'm going to do something that... something you would get angry at me for doing.
I'm sorry, Damon. But I can't feel this way anymore. This may be the last time I write for a while. I'm always going to love you, Damon Salvatore. But now, I have to find a way to live without you.
Forever Yours,
Amelia x
Sealing the envelope shut, she added it in the box with all the other letters, and closed the lid with slight hesitation.
"You are not going to change my mind, Nik" She spoke, feeling his presence behind her "It's for the best, and you know it"
"Running away and turning off your emotions is for the best?" He retorted, sarcasm strong in his tone "This isn't you, love"
Looking over her shoulder, she shot him a glare "Then who exactly am I? I don't know anymore. When I look in the mirror, it is like a stranger is staring back at me. The Amelia you know, got swept away with Damon when the other side fell apart"
He glared back "The Amelia I know, wouldn't pick the cowards way out. She would face her pain head on"
"Then I guess I'm a coward" She snapped, finally turning to face him, slinging her packed bag over her shoulder "I was going to wait until I left, but I guess there is no time like the present"
Before he could stop her, her eyes fell shut, and she did the unthinkable. Her mind flooded with memories of Damon, that made a singular tear fall down her cheek, until she pushed them to the back of her mind. For months, it was clear her humanity was on it's dimmer switch. Not fully on, but no fully off.
When she opened her eyes again, the light had drained out of them, no emotion clear in her at all. Klaus simply stared at her, and a smirk appeared on her lips, wiping away the tear like it was never there.
"Goodbye Klaus" She said in a empty tone, brushing past his shoulder as she walked out.
For the first time in months, she didn't feel anything, as her switch was officially off.
This took a while, I've been trying to get it perfect. I promised Amelia would visit New Orleans, and she has. I've been waiting till I was writing Season 6, to finally turn of Amelia's emotions, and now I finally have. It's gonna be a fun ride.
She'll be causing people a lot of problems next chapter, when she heads back to the border of Mystic Falls. Anyone watching season 8 currently, will understand why I'm currently in so much pain, and why the newest episode has killed me. So much happened, only 5 episodes left, I'm not ready.
I hope you all enjoyed, I'll update again soon :)
