Chapter 29

-Lucy's P.O.V-

The paramedic instructed Lauren to put a neck brace on me. I felt her hands shaking as she did. Once it was on, her hands went back to supporting my head. A sharp pain shot through my stomach and I let out a scream.

"What is it? Lucy what's wrong?" She anxiously asked.

"I'm having contractions" I cried, squeezing my eyes shut from the pain.

"She's two months early, that can't be right can it?" I heard Lauren ask the paramedic.

"It can, the stress and the state you're in has caused baby to want to come early. Don't worry it's perfectly normal, I've taken women to hospital who have been this early. Just hang in there Lucy you're doing great" He said.

"I don't feel so great" I replied, trying to make a joke to better the situation. "I'm so scared"

"Excuse me,miss" Keeping my head still, I moved my eyes to find a firefighter by the passenger side window. "We're gonna cut the roof off now. You're gonna hear a lot of noise but don't worry you're both perfectly safe"

"Hurry please, get me out of here. My baby..." I begged and cried a little harder. He nodded his head before disappearing.

"Lucy can you hear us? We're right here!" I heard Georgia shout from outside. I managed to smile to myself.

"Lauren, if anything happens. Choose the baby over me. Please" I winced as another contraction hit. They seemed to be getting closer.

"Shut up! Don't say that. You're both gonna make it out of here, do you hear me?" Lauren angrily spoke, still holding my head.

"The baby is coming and I can't open my legs!" I yelled, I could feel my heart beating faster. I was petrified, I wanted Bobby.

"Hurry up!" Lauren screamed at the men outside. I could hear the girls from outside yelling at the firefighters and the paramedics. Lauren reached her hand forward and grabbed my left hand. "You're gonna be ok"

"I appreciate you so much" I told her and squeezed her hand tightly.

The sound of a loud machine deafened me, they were finally working a little quicker on getting me out of the car. Lauren had used her jacket to cover my face. The sound drowning out my screams. The machine didn't stop but the jacket was moved off of my face, the roof of the car had now disappeared and they were working on prying the front of the car off.

-Bobby's P.O.V-

I laughed out loud at Dutch's little tantrum. He had lost to all four of us. Serves him right for when he beat us all the night we were playing cards.

"Don't cry Dutch" Tommy mocked.

"I'm down $40 asshole!" Dutch pushed him slightly.

We watched the two begin to wrestle each other on the floor. I grabbed my beer and finished off the remaining liquid inside. Johnny handed me the cue and motioned towards the pool table. I shrugged and stood up, waiting for him to set up.

"Bobby!" I heard two female voices scream.

Tommy and Dutch stopped fighting and jumped straight up, I turned around and saw Ella and Ali rush over to us. Ella grabbed the cue I had in my hand and threw it across the room. Both girls grabbed onto my arms and tried dragging me away.

"Woah hey, what are you doing?" I asked them, pulling my arms out of their grasp.

"What's going on?" Jimmy asked, the guys stepping forward behind me. I looked down at Ella's hands, they were shaking. Their facial expression were a mixture of dread and worry. I frowned at them. This all seemed a bit too familiar.

"We have to get to the hospital" Ella said.

"There was an a-accident" Ali stuttered. "Lucy and Lauren..."

"What kind of accident?" Johnny asked concerned not letting Ali finish. "Is Lauren ok?" Normally, we all would've teased him for being so concerned about a girl, but this situation seemed too serious. Not even Dutch made a sarcastic comment.

"Where's Georgia?" Dutch pushed past Jimmy and me, glaring at the two girls.

"Georgia's fine" Ella told him. "So are Susan and Barbara" She saw how worried Tommy and Jimmy looked and put their minds at ease.

"The car, it came out of nowhere" Ali began to cry as she started to explain.

"What?!" I spat.

"Head on or?" Dutch asked.

"No" Ella sobbed and turned to me, giving me a sympathetic look. "It went straight into the passenger side where Lucy was"

"Is she ok? Is she alive? What about the baby?" Johnny asked. The other three gasped.

"We don't know, we came here to get you" Ali sobbed.

My heart dropped to my stomach. I didn't need to hear anymore. I barged past both girls, making sure to grab Ella's wrist as I did and dragged her out with me. I wasted no time and jumped straight into the passenger side. Ali got into the back. I grew impatient as Ella's shaky hands fiddled with the key. Finally, she started the engine.

"We're right behind you Bobby!" Tommy yelled. All of the guys climbing onto their bikes.

"Fucking go!" I screamed at Ella. I know I was wrong, she was just as scared and nervous as I was but I couldn't waste anymore time being here. The whole time she drove, all I could think about was my girls. I brought both my hands together and began to silently pray. Something I had never done before.

-Lucy's P.O.V-

"We need the roads clear!" One of the paramedics demanded to an officer.

"Oh my god" I heard Georgia whisper as we passed her. I just managed to catch her cover her mouth with her hand.

They had finally got me out and strapped me to a gurney, wheeling me towards the ambulance. Lauren never left my side. I squeezed her hand again as another contraction came. I couldn't focus on all the needles being stuck into my arm. I continued to cry as I was placed into the back of the ambulance, Lauren climbing in after me.

"Lauren, we'll meet you there!" Susan yelled and then the doors shut.

The contractions wouldn't go away and all I could do was whimper. The paramedic that sat in the back with us pounded his fist on the back of the ambulance, signalling that we were clear to go. I looked up at Lauren, all the colour had drained from her face.

"Just hang on Lucy" The paramedic said.

"I can't, this baby is coming now!" I yelled. Lauren grabbed a hold of the paramedics collar.

"You have to do something!" Lauren demanded. He looked between the two of us, beads of sweat dripping from his forehead.

"Okay you, Unbuckle her and take off her underwear" He told her. Lauren hurriedly took of her jacket, throwing it to the ground and lifted up my dress. Grabbing my underwear, she swiftly pulled it down.

"Jesus I know we're close but this is a bit much no?" I said through my crying, making light of the situation. Lauren let out a small giggle and rushed back to grab my hand. The paramedic knelt down in front of me, his eyes wide.

"Oh god, you're fully dilated, this baby is coming" The paramedic blurted.

"I told you that!" I yelled at him.

"Get behind her, she can push against you!" Lauren helped me sit up and I leaned my back against her chest. She reach round and took both of my hands in hers.

"I'm right here ok, you can do this"

I opened my legs wider and the paramedic instructed me to push. I let out a scream as I did. My breathing became heavy as I stopped. I leaned my head back against Lauren's shoulder. I was instructed to push again, Lauren kept talking, telling me how great I was doing.

"Lauren I can't" I sobbed after I stopped pushing. Leaning my head against hers.

"Yes you can, you can do this" She said trying to motivate me to continue. "Only a few more pushes Lucy come on"

And I continued to push, I pushed until I couldn't push no more. Taking a breather between each push. I never realised how difficult it was to give birth. It broke my heart , Bobby wasn't here, I needed him now more than ever. At least I had Lauren.

"One more push Lucy!" The paramedic instructed.

"I can see the head! Come on one more" I could hear the excitement in Lauren's voice.

I let out one last scream and pushed with all the strength I had left. I felt so relieved and closed my eyes. I sighed and tried to catch my breath. The tiny little cry coming from my baby warmed my heart.

"She's here!" Lauren cried and helped me sit up a little more. The paramedic handed my baby girl to me, she was so tiny. I sobbed and held her close, a wide smile on my face. After months of feeling her move in my stomach, I finally got to hold her. The feeling was indescribable.

"Oh she's beautiful" Lauren coo'ed.

"We're gonna be at the hospital in two minutes" The paramedic told us.

"Okay" I mumbled. I felt my body growing weaker by the second. With my baby still in my arms, I slowly lay back. I could hear a rapid beeping.

"What's happening?" Lauren yelled, helplessly looking at the paramedic.

"We're losing her!"

"Hey! Lucy don't do this, your baby needs you! Lucy!" Was the last thing I heard before my eyes closed.

-Bobby's P.O.V-

We finally arrived at the hospital, I didn't wait for Ella to stop the car. I unbuckled my seat belt and jumped out, sprinting into the main entrance and banging my hand on the front desk.

"Lucy Graves where is she?" I anxiously asked.

"And who are you?"

"I'm her fiancé" I spat. I went to open my mouth to speak again.

"Bobby!" I looked ahead and saw Lauren. Her face was bright red, I saw the tears falling from her eyes. I rushed over to her and grabbed both of her arms tightly.

"Where is she?" I asked, my breathing uneven. I heard footsteps behind us, I didn't need to look to know that it was the others. "Is my baby ok?"

"Your baby was born 10 minutes ago in the back of the ambulance" She told me, using her sleeve to wipe her face. My mouth hung open slightly, my baby, my little girl, she's here. I couldn't believe it. I had to see her, I needed to hold her. I looked back at the others and smiled but my smile quickly faded.

"Where's Lucy?"
