Pain... horrible pain was the first thought that came to my mind. My head was spinning and my body felt broken and bruised. I tried to lift my head up while still keeping my eyes shut, but my attempt failed and I laid back down. Why did I feel so sore?
The last thing I remembered was a spitting image of Cade, my handsome boyfriend, pressing his lips up against mine passionately. His short, shaggy blonde hair ruffling in the cool nighttime breeze, as he cuddled me to warm me up. Then a shadowy figure in a large black cape tackled Cade and pinned him to the ground. My feet started a sprint into the distance, but it wasn't long till my legs gave out. Making me collapse to the ground with my vision blurring, getting worse by the second.
Finally regaining some of my strength, my arms pushed me to get up and check out my surroundings. The room was that of a prison cell with only a small, rickety bed and a puny toilet in the corner away from the bars around a steel bold door. I came close to the icy concrete bars and gazed outwards. The walls were covered with cobwebs and ancient vines and other infesting weeds. There were five other cells besides the one I was in, and as far as I could see, there was no doorway out. The floor was made out of some rocky, hard material I couldn't identify, but the walls were all sturdy cobblestone.
Suddenly something moved in the cell across from mine. My eyes darted towards it, where a familiar figure came near the bars of its cell.
"Cade!" I cried out.
That got his attention quickly as he caught my stare.
"Sarah... what happened? Where are we?"
"I don't know, but we have to find a way out of here."
Just then a husk, mysterious laugh echoed around the room.
"Oh Sarah, Sarah, Sarah..." the voice chuckled, "You know very well that you cannot escape."
His voice sent chills down my spine. I remembered that cocky and smooth tone of his that lured me just three years ago.
"W-who are you?" I muttered as I desperately searched around the area for the owner of the voice.
"Show yourself!" Cade yelled angrily.
The voice only laughed cruelly at us.
"You know exactly who I am, Sarah. You just don't want to remember."
My hands trembled so I grasped the bars trying to calm myself down as soon as possible.
"Obviously she doesn't know! So let us go!" Cade shouted gritting his teeth in rage.
Then there was complete and utter silence. A hand then gripped tightly around my waist.
"Hello Sarah..." he purred in my ear as he forcefully turned me around to face him, "Miss me?"
It was Jareth, the Goblin King. I had defeated him once before by conquering the labyrinth he put me through to save my brother Toby.
He was still the way I knew him to be. His hair stood on end like a lion's mane and was so light blonde it could have been fooled for white. He wore gray tights and his shirt a white, v-neck that went down low to show some of his chest. A gold medallion dangling from his neck.
"What do you want?" I asked as he began to twirl my hair around his finger with his free hand.
Jareth looked into my eyes with his cold mismatched blue ones. He smirked at me slightly showing a bit of his sharp, pointy row of teeth.
"You know Sarah, I thought that you would be smarter than this."
I shivered at his touch as he moved his hand away from my waist down to my arm.
"Use that beautiful mind of yours and think. 'What would a immortal beast want with a scrawny human girl?'"
"That Goblin King had fallen in love with the girl..."
"Precisely..." he grinned slyly, "It was easy getting you here with the help of my new... partner."
Partner? Jareth wouldn't ever ask for help unless he was truly desperate.
"I'd prefer the term... acquaintance..." another voice growled.
I gasped a little, scared at the sudden intrusion. A man then came out of the shadows from the outside of the cell and showed himself to me.
This man was no where close to Jareth's appearance or personality. He wore a well fitted black suit and a white bow tie. His black hair slicked back and combed to perfection. His eyes were a deep shade of gold that put
me into a trance, but there was one thing that stood out most about this strange gentlemen. A crisp, white mask that clung to the left side of his face. It cut off half of his face from my view still leaving a slight part of his mouth close to the mask looked swollen and red.
"What are you staring at?" he snapped at me.
I jumped back a little at his tone and my back hit Jareth's chest. He laughed at my reaction to the other man, and wrapped his arms around me so I couldn't move away.
"That would be Eric Destler. He's a good friend of mine."
Jareth took a sneaky glance at Eric and Eric returned it with a scowl. Jareth paid no attention to it but instead gazed lustfully at me for what seemed like forever.
Eric cleared his throat.
"You should be getting my prize as I have gotten yours, and fast too while you still have the chance."
Jareth suddenly let go of me and teleported outside of the cell next to Eric.
"Do not fret Eric. I'll get that woman of yours, but do you want the boy as well?"
Eric smirked at his words and clenched in his hand into a fist.
"Indeed, that fop will get no mercy from me ever again."
The two laughed maniacally in unison as the vanished into thin air, their laughs still echoing throughout the cells.
"Sarah who was that other guy? I know you told me about Jareth but who was that other man?" Cade asked me from afar.
I gulped hard contemplating my response.
"I read a book once about him. He killed several people without a second glance, and it was all for this girl named Christine. He fell in love with her voice and would do anything he could to make her his. Cade... he's called... the phantom of the opera."
"With both the phantom and Jareth we're doomed, Sarah! What are we going to do?" Cade's voice seemed to falter because of his mood.
"What we can do..." I replied, "Nothing..."
Sorry for leaving it on a cliffhanger I will update every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Thank you for your patience! Please comment!!!!
